Ol 29 is the quintessential NorCal coastal truck. As a NorCal owner/op, truck nut, logging industry guy, I hate to see it leave our area. It couldn’t have gone to a much better home though! Look forward to seeing you chip away at her! Keep up the good work, Wayne👌🏼
Hi it looks like the engine bell housing has a few cracks in her. One at the starter mount and above the starter where the bell housing meets the engine block. I changed many of them to cast iron it was a lot more durable than the cast aluminum .
Cab mounts settled - would cause cab to hit compressor. But then, BW has/had multiple angles of layover compressors. I assume you received the right head , plus other ship-loose parts . Another good detailed video with step by step descriptions of unique features on this rig . NOT a "cookie cutter" !

I lived right down the street from where that truck was built in Newark CA, I could have seen it on its shakedown drive as they drove every one of them in the industrial park near the Plant . It has all the right things to make me a new Sub , 75 Pete , 12V 71 Detroit and it was a Log truck in CA , looking forward to these videos .

I was out in my shop and pulled out my old Spicer binders. I thought I had some manuals for the gear boxes in your Pete. From seeing the bell housing on the main box I figured it to be a S.S.T 1062 or 1263. I didn't get to see the auxiliary trans but with a 1271 I would hope it was a 1241. I have the service and parts manuals for the main and parts manual for the 1241 they are yours if they are the correct ones. @@Ol2Stroker

That would be my dream truck as well. Have a 359 with a big cam, 9 spd. But I am a detroit lover at heart as well. Have a 66 Intl loadstar with a 6-71 also. All junk to play with like you, not working trucks.
Even though the Hood air assist opener did not work I think that is cool I wish when I was driving I had that on any of the Trucks my co drivers always made fun of me being 120 and struggle ing to open and gently close the hood among other things were weighting more helps out
I've always wondered if since they still make 6-71 blowers but with better rotors if an old 2 stroke could be updated with them? Just more efficient blowers would help performance a lot.
It should've had the original number stamped into it when it was installed but they didn't do it for whatever reason, probably in a rush to go to work.
That engine mount deal is like when I pulled the old cab off of my Dentside - I removed the rear mount bolts, and forgot to remove the front mount bolts, but it didn't matter. I was intending to remove them before lifting, but it really wasn't that important.
What a chore getting that old taken out. Good luck getting everything taken apart. Just out of curiosity have you ever seen Werner Enterprises Freightliner with the V-16in it? It’s a beautiful truck. It’s on here. Just look up Werner Enterprises V-16. Well good luck brother. Have a great week.

I am a new Subscriber, This is one of my Favorite Channels, I have learn a lot from you. Your quite the Mechanic. I watch Diesel Creek once and they have no clue what they are doing. Big Joke if you ask me. I love Peterbilt trucks but have not driven one! The truck I drive Is a Freightliner Coronado with a 550 Detroit Diesel 18 speed. I love the truck. 44 rears! I haul Hazardous waste. I watch Hamilton Farm quite often, those 2 guys are quite Funny. I like Wiley. James Pretty is pretty good Mechanic. But so far your the best. Looking for a daily driver to drive back and forth to work. Maybe a old Cabover or a Peterbilt that is a relic. Wish you were my Mechanic, I work so my hours a week, no time to work on anything.

Out of curiosity why did Detroit run their belts for the accessory components at the back of the blocks and not up from like CAT or Cummins? I always thought that was like for a specific truck like a cab over or bus, but it seems like even conventional‘s have belts on the back of the blocks.

On a v92 where is liner protrusion measured? Since the top of the liner is not flat is it measured at the point closest to the block deck.?
