Most cases you know whom your envious of and to go against your own ego to now help those individuals to achieve their goals will cause the envy to disappear, with no intent to compete However, boastful individuals can cause others to become envious as they make others feel unblessed. So humility has a major role to play.

The solution to envy: 1) Gratitude 2) Generosity and 3) Compassion.
I would probably add: maturation of the soul. A kind of evolution beyond adolescent fantasies
