  • In this episode, journalist and minister Chris Hedges joins Hamza Yusuf to discuss wrath, the spiritual root of so much violence and warfare and a vehicle for dehumanization. Hedges reflects on his decades spent reporting from war zones and the indelible scars left by such experiences.
THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS, A SPECIAL RENOVATIO SERIES HOSTED BY HAMZA YUSUF
Hamza Yusuf converses with scholars, leaders, and writers to explore one of religion's most enduring conceptual frameworks, the Seven Deadly Sins. These compelling conversations shed light on how the sins manifest themselves within us, illustrate their devastating consequences on our culture, and elucidate their corresponding virtues for all of us who struggle with sin.

This was an amazing conversation. I learnt so much Alhamdallilah.
Hamza Yusuf is showing an excellent example of how we can learn so much from even non-muslims and that we should always be seeking knowledge above anything because knowledge is true power as it gives us so many different perspectives on various situations in life.
When you listen to conversations like these, it's as if you're being lifted from the ground and you're distanced from all the chaos that's happening on the earth. It gives us such great perspective.

Totally, and this should be the typical and very minimum level the average person operates at..just imagine how far the ummah and humanity in general could go if THIS was everyones starting point? MashaAllah. Alhamdulilah we have people such as these gentlemen to showcase how things can be and are for some people.

It's one of the great shortcomings of our ummah... Muslims generally don't look outside of the Islamic traditions for knowledge. It's basically like we are not allowed to. Nonsense. It's so important. I love how Hamza Yusuf always talks about different things that are so essential for Muslims and for literally everyone.

I know God, I walk in covenant with God and I Love God. I fear God as well and that is the beginning of Love because until you fear disobeying God and causing God to look upon you in shame so you feel horrible then you can not love Him. I started this walk when I was 32, to look for God. I started to actually begin to find God when I was 39 and sealed myself to God as the gospel tells us to, those of us who listen to the gospel teacher and not the ones who came after him, know to take up the commandments of God and to seek out our roots back to Abraham and to Moses and Yehoshua and the prophets so we become firm in knowledge of what GOD ALONE asked of us. It took me several years of fighting sin and the devil by obeying God. I fought the sin out of me with God's help, by his instructions in the written word. It is a very narrow road and as the mattan/Matthew gospel says very few will find it. We have to fight Satan and the whole world that serves him in sin in order to get out and the one who will help is God alone because we can't trust anyone else. I am with God, God provides for myself and my family and yes there is absolutely evidence BUT not until you absolutely come clean, in thought, word and deed, the absolute opposite of all the lying religions. The gospel was sent down to free us from sin by sending us to our teacher and if you reject it then you are freed from God into sin perpetually and to death spiritually from God which as I can now see is absolutely hell on earth, your light you pretend to have is absolutely darkness caused by your unwillingness to even try to obey God. I speak to 99% of the population. If you can't put everyone first after God and stop yourself from all sin THEN YOUR NOT WORTHY AND YOU ARE ALREADY FINISHED BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED.
So come out of all sun, take up the commandments and begin your battle, call to GOD ALONE, LEARN YOUR ROOTS, BE GOD'S PEOPLE. FIGHT SATAN WHO IS THE SINNERS INNER VOICE, THE CONSCIENCE THAT LEADS YOU TO HURT YOU, that's not you, it's Satan the deceiver. If you come to God and pass the trials cleansing yourself by obedience then GOD WILL BECOME YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOU WILL LOVE GOD AND HATE SIN, SATAN WILL FLEE FROM YOU.
SO there it is Mr Peterson
Peace, the ball in in your court
Be wary of this world, it is the valley of death, you need God's light and God doesn't dwell with sin or sinners. Not until they begin the journey to stop sin.
    😀😉[Quran Chapter 3]
    77. Those who exchange the covenant of God, and their vows, for a small price, will have no share in the Hereafter, and God will not speak to them, nor will He look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. They will have a painful punishment.
    78. And among them are those who twist the Scripture with their tongues, that you may think it from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "It is from God," when it is not from God. They tell lies and attribute them to God, knowingly.
    79. No person to whom God has given the Scripture, and wisdom, and prophethood would ever say to the people, "Be my worshipers rather than God's." Rather, "Be people of the Lord, according to the Scripture you teach, and the teachings you learn."
    80. Nor would he command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he command you to infidelity after you have submitted?
    81. God received the covenant of the prophets, "Inasmuch as I have given you of scripture and wisdom; should a messenger come to you verifying what you have, you shall believe in him, and support him." He said, "Do you affirm My covenant and take it upon yourselves?" They said, "We affirm it." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."

I don't understand why pornography and violent video games are not taken seriously as destructive to society. People like to copy, it is our nature, that is how we learn. Why are people being taught these horrible things? I know that once someone starts that they grow numb. Even all the violence in the movies. I am so happy for this insightful conversation. I think 'consumerism' is propping up the 7 deadly sins. We are consumers, not people or citizens. I am so sad to see the world going this way.

I have to make one "correction" (for lack of a better word) about Bobby Fischer, being referred to as an Anti-Semite. He may have mischaracterized *all Jews* as problematic, which clearly is prejudiced. Bobby saw something though - an aspect of Gog and Magog - these are people who have infiltrated religion, disguising themselves as Christians, Muslims, and Jews, but *are NOT* . A perfect example, the *Sabattean Francist* (a combination of Shabbetai Tzevi , and Jacob Frank) - the Rothschilds - who are NOT Jewish; rather they are, Sabbatean Frankists - *a death cult* that warps the true religion of Judiasm , that comes from the Torah. And who was it that Established this New State of Israel(?) - the Rothschilds. That is who Bobby was referring to.
    * I would like to note: The Talmud is also a perversion of the Torah; which came after Babylon conquered Israel.* (And the *Kabbalah* - Jewish Mysticism - for that matter, is also *NOT from Torah either!* )
