    I used to fly around the streets on my bike pretending to be Jessie, on my various ‘missions’ talking to Norman through my bike helmet etc.
    I used to get some funny looks and head shakes! Mainly from people I’d went to school with years earlier! It was like they never seen a 43 yr old playing at streethawk before 🤷

    Excellent video. Me and my best friend were into Streethawk. It was a natural evolution to watch after Night Rider. This was another one of those series, like Automan, that the British TV announcer would claim that a new series would be back next year! As there was no internet, you just took their word and were disappointed when it never came back. 😊

    Thank you Steve. I watched Street Hawk again when it was broadcast on Forces TV about five years ago Unfortunately they never showed the pilot episode. I think the series has held up very well. There's always a danger in revisiting films and TV from our youth in that they don't quite measure up to the memory. It deserved more than one series 👍

    • @RetroSpectives
      @RetroSpectives  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I was surprised how well it held up. The Knight Rider comparison came about because I'd gone back to that and lost interest. Going back to Street Hawk, I wasn't expecting much but I was riveted throughout every episode and was left wanting more. I always thought Knight Rider was better but in hindsight I've changed my mind.

    Show should've had a full season.
    I just got an e-bike around last month, and when I took it as far as Walmart (which is an extremely long distance from my house), the whole time I kept thinking I was Street Hawk.
    When I put the electric mode on 3 (fastest), I acted like it was hyperthrust!
    By the way, there are three different versions of the pilot episode. You can easily find all three here on YT. The OG pilot is my favorite, because it was longer, the beam was blue and didn't shoot straight like the red one, and there was even a streak effect at the start of hyperthrust! You'll see other differences too.

      If you were running a Street-Hawk reboot, how would you handle it, given the problems that plague the original series? For example, the first Street-Hawk series had cost issues, bike part issues, and their timeslot against the drama successful TV show Dynasty which didn't help. Critics of the show found it difficult to accept that crimefighting could be fought on a bike, given most of Jesse's body was exposed to assault or harm while riding Street-Hawk. Also, the "speed thing" is an issue with Street-Hawk, but the same could or can be said about Airwolf. What are your opinions on Street-Hawk? Do you think the first Street-Hawk show should have been made as a spinoff from Chips? If so, should the reboot Street-Hawk be a spinoff of TV series SWAT or some new version of Chips? What should change about the Street-Hawk bike? Should the bike have cloaking tech to protect the pilot, morphing tech (to change it from government vehicle to police bike), and should it get propellers like the Condor in 1980's MASK (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) cartoon? Lastly, should the 1980's flopped movie Cyclone be a-part of Street-Hawk's reboot?

Sad it only lasted 1 season but to this day it is the main reason I got my motorcycle liscense and my Bike (which in a funny twist) cause it is a Hawk250! I also sourced a fiberglass kit to make a full size StreetHawk but I have yet to commit to the 7k pricetag, maybe one day lol! I have also began making a Streethawk out of a GIJoe RAM and having a 3D printed Jesse Mach and Streethawk made! Even with 1 season this show still captivates people and has a big fallowing! Great job with this video! My favorite Street-Hawk episodes is Vegas Run, but that episode and others had more issues than unbelievable speeds. For example, every part of Jesse's body while riding Street-Hawk is open to physical attacks. Also, the constant traveling from command center to police station makes Street-Hawk seem inconvenient for crimefighting. Given rumors online about a new reboot Knight-Rider series "geared" for crossovers with unspecified 1980s TV canceled shows and/or movies, what improvements can or should be made to Street-Hawk? For example, before Street-Hawk was released in 1986, I think that show should have spun-off of NBC's Chips which had a fanbase of motorcycle lovers. Agreed? Second, that bike (Street-Hawk) should have some cloaking-tech shielding. Third, Street-Hawk should have a morphing capability to change from cop bike to government attack motorcycle (just as rumors online suggested Street-Hawk producers were contemplating during the 1980s). Plus, Robert Beltran's Street-Hawk character shouldn't have been killed off. Agree or disagree? What are your thoughts about a Street-Hawk with Knight-Rider crossover for present-day reboot rumors? Lastly, would you include 1980s movie flop Cyclone in this discussion?

    • @RetroSpectives
      @RetroSpectives  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Some good ideas there. I like the idea of any kind of crossover. For a Street Hawk character reboot, specifically, Jesse could do with a bullet-proof costume that somehow links technologically with the bike systems. With modern film-making tech and writing, I think they could do a great job of revitalising the show.

    • @seanholmes7482
      @seanholmes7482 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RetroSpectives , great points! It seems like your suggesting Jesse Mock needs a Marvel Ironman suit for Street-Hawk riding. When Street-Hawk's TV series ended, Knight-Rider TV productions absorbed most of Street-Hawk's producers. Those producers worked within the Knight-Rider TV business to give Kitt concepts like the "C" button and Super-Pursuit-Mode. However, the fictional character of Bonnie never explained to Michael how she developed Kitt's speed boost or new breaks. Was Kitt's latest advancements during the 1980s a plot hole or something else? Also, the producers of Knight-Rider introduced Street Avenger (aka: RC3) played by Hollywood actor Peter Parros. Avenger isn't the same as Hawk, but these details seem to suggest those producers were contemplating a crossover between Knight-Rider and Street-Hawk. Right? If you were to fill those Knight-Rider plot holes, would you start with making Michael ask Bonnie where she got the idea for Kitt's Super-Pursuit-Mode (Possible Bonnie Response: Norman Tuttle)? This would "beg the question" from Michael about what Bonnie gave Norman in return for getting more speed (Possible Bonnie Response: Kitt's Molecular Bonded Shell). Why? Norman would be able to create a bike "protective suit" for Jesse similar to your suggestion using Kitt's Molecular Bonded Shell, and Bonnie gets more speed for Kitt using Norman's formula. The only thing missing from this "suit theory" is robotic mobility for Jesse.

    • @RetroSpectives
      @RetroSpectives  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wouldn't that be great, if Tuttle was introduced by Devon to the team as a new consultant? I'm definitely on-board with your suggestions there, and mentioning Iron Man, you've made me contemplate the idea of an artificial intelligence like Jarvis, for the bike and suit. I can't wait to see this reboot we've just invented! 😂😄

    • @seanholmes7482
      @seanholmes7482 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RetroSpectives , thanks for the complement! However, my suggestion focused mainly on the missed crossover potential opportunity during 1986 through 1987 between Knight-Rider and Street-Hawk, regarding episode Night of the Juggernaut. During that episode, Devon was kidnapped and replaced by a copycat, leaving Kitt and Michael in Bonnie's control. Although, I'm willing to go down the same route with you just as TH-cam channel SciTrek is doing with current 2025 reboot rumors about a new Team Knight-Rider crossover show in development designed to bring back 1980's action shows into one tent. As I stated, the only issue with Jesse's armor being composed of Kitt's Molecular-Bond-Shell back then or now is the weight on his body. Therefore, Jesse and Street-Hawk will need access to robotic tech for mobility. Fortunately, current rumors suggest the new Knight-Rider show in development will once again crossover with the Bionic Man (which had lots of robotic episodes). Those two different shows could provide Jesse with his indestructible robotic suit with full mobility back then or now for every proposed reboot related rumor. It is important to note that I'm not a fan of the concept for Steve Austin's Six Million Dollar Man story, given the idea of a "present day" cyborg man seem more illogical than stories about Street-Hawk. Personally, I think the Bionic Man concept should be scaled down to more practical terms, and I would be happy to discuss that in detail. However, this is a Street-Hawk discussion channel, and I won't "steer" too far from that unless you say so. On that note, do you think the original Street-Hawk story should have spun off of Chips to capture more motorcycle fans, and should a reboot Street-Hawk show spin off the TV series SWAT or some other cop-show to get started again? Lastly, do you think it was a mistake by the producers of Street-Hawk to kill-off Hollywood actor Robert Beltran's character, given his success with other shows?

    • @RetroSpectives
      @RetroSpectives  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Team Knight Rider sounds like it might be quite exciting as a shared universe type thing - ripe for crossovers. It is a shame that was never explored back in the 80s. And .. if you want to 'steer' in any direction int he comments, go for it. I'm not policing that. 🙂 Street Hawk/CHiPs I'm not sure would have worked, as they're very different genres, although both shows featured motorcycle cops, so there's that. I think as far as Street Hawk rebooting as a spin-off, it would probably be very cool to have it as perhaps a surprise introduction in an episode of Knight Rider, then have the bike and car teaming up under the Knight foundation umbrella; have Project Street Hawk as a Knight Foundation side project. Characters from other shows could also be introduced as part of the shared universe. I think yes, it may quite possibly have been a mistake to kill off the character played by the most well-known actor, but we don't know, even in hindsight, how busy Robert Beltran may have been, and might have only signed up for a single episode, to give the new show a mainstream appeal.

    Isn't it amazing how the bad guys are always so focused on destroying the hero of the show that they totally don't see the cliff coming 😊

    Unfortunately, the soundtrack that Tangerine Dream composed for the 13 episodes has never been released. For me one of his best songs. Knight Rider, Airwolf, Blue Thunder, Street Hawk.. forever!

      Yes, definitely one of the best theme songs ever I think. A quick youtube search for Tangerine Dream is an interesting rabbit-hole to disappear down.

    NBC should have picked up this show and done a crossover with Knight rider

      Considering both shows were produced by Universal, and even had a scene from both shows use the exact same location (look up knight rider vs street hawk here on YT), you'd think a crossover would've happened.

      Let's think .. black, sleek motorbike. Leather suit. Bangin' synth/rock soundtrack. Those boxes need checking, plus maybe advanced GPS, A.I. course correction & guidance systems, stealth capability. Maybe an onboard computer A.I. voice like Jarvis from Iron Man? Anything else?

    I think Street Hawk aged much better in contrast to Knight Rider. As a child i first watched Knight Rider of course, but today i think the most episodes are outdated in terms of effects and storys. KR had some great moments like all "Goliath" (Garthe Knight😂)-Episodes, as well most of the third season. On the other hand the humour was nonsense most of the time and the first two seasons were really boring as well.
    Street Hawk had only 13 Episodes + Pilot, and that's the benefit. The whole thing was darker in terms of storys and soundtrack. I love especially the pilot and Vegas Run, which had very good moments. Rex Smith was a good actor in contrast to Hoff and Regalbuto an excellent sidekick. Certainly there were gadgets like Hypertrust, which was ridiculous and other things which copied Knight Rider all the way. Nonetheless i prefer Street Hawk😊
    Sadly, there are no plans for a Bluray-Release, but the DVD-Version is better than nothing.

      I pretty much agree with everything you've said there, especially how the show does seem to have aged well.
