- Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, Filter emerged as one of the most popular bands in the post-industrial scene in the mid 1990’s. Filter frontman Richard Patrick recently sat down with Gibson to check out the brand new G-45 Standard Acoustic Guitar while sharing insight into the creation and songwriting process of the bands hit single “Take A Picture" as the band celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the platinum selling release "Title of Record."
The G-45 Standard builds on the revolutionary new G-45 series platform to provide the perfect mix of tone, performance, and traditional Gibson style for all players and every stage.
It is hand-built in our Bozeman, Montana factory using time-tested Gibson build techniques like hide-glued dovetail neck joints and domed top braces along with modern specs like slimmer body depths and Advanced Response neck profiles.
The G-45 Standard also features a gloss top finish, dense Richlite fingerboard, Soft Diamond inlays, and top and back binding. A solid Sitka spruce top and solid walnut back and sides deliver crisp sounds with plenty of wonderful overtones while a Fishman Sonitone pickup captures every nuance for easy plug-and-play at home, in the studio or on stage.

That album with Take a Picture is simply a MASTERPIECE and Richard and this band Filter to me... were Robbed of credit or what I thought was wayy more deserving of awards... and the real music fans or people who know music understand that album is EPIC

I just got my g45 standard last week. It sounds awesome! I can’t stop playing it. Gibson definitely did a good job with these.

Love Filter acoustic sound
These are great acoustic guitars. I'm not joking. I've been playing for 43 years or so, and mostly pounding away on acoustic. I've played at least 10,000 acoustics in my lifetime. I've owned plenty of original 60's J-45's and 50's. I've even played a ton of Pre-War Martins. To date, this is the most comfortable acoustic I've played. The string spacing has been changed to be between 1 3/4 and 1 11/16. The spacing is perfect. And the tone is very, very unique. The unfinished Walnut is magical. It's just really light and open. The tone, along with the comfort of this 24 3/4 scale guitar, makes this my favorite acoustic. It does have a lightness to it, so when you hit hard it does have a tendency to rattle a bit, so you need to play back near the bridge when you get aggressive. I know that this series will be susceptible to cracks, especially the Walnut. Keep them humidified with those pack systems. They're pretty inexpensive. Other than that, go try one!

You definitely touched a lot of people with your music man. Your tunes are the backdrop to so many good times, parties, and just driving down the road, stereo up, singing our hearts out to the skies. We’ve lost a lot of brilliant musicians from that golden era, and the world seems to have turned its back on real music, so it means a lot to see you so passionate about music today.

I compared the Gibson G45 standard with the Seagall S6 and was surprised by the Seagull S6. I ended up with the Seagull
Just remember if you buy any other guitar Gibson will flatten your skull!!!
