    You took the longest route possible to get to eticket lol. When you get to the top of the first fire road “climb”, go straight, make a left at the “T” and continue straight. Your option looks 5x longer.

      I did that route when I went back a second time, and it's definitely more efficient.

      I would call this low intermediate. It has some faster downhills, but nothing super technical. The climbs are pretty tough, too.

      @@rolpal619 I park at the same spot I parked for the PQ beginner ride. It's kind of hard to explain how to get there. If you don't have Trailforks, I would download it and use that. It is one way now, but I haven't done it since they made it one way, and I don't know where the trail that takes you back starts or ends.

    In the beginning after the hill up, instead of going right, go straight there is a crazy trail ! It leads to a fork in the trail where a bike pump station is. I’ve done it hiking & it’s crazy so I could only imagine how biking it would be.

      Yes. That climb is very steep. The camera view doesn't show it. I couldn't do it. I haven't tried but I walked it a hundred times.

    I've been on these trails...but the trail from the picnic tables going up is one long steep climb. I'm amazed he could make it by bike.

    thank you for the rattlesnake awareness bit. Planning on being in SD this March ( from Oregon ) and had planned to
    ride . I was curious about the snake situation so this video helps tremendously.

      No worries! March is a toss up for rattlesnake activity, but it's better to assume they are going to be out than to get caught by surprise.

      @@jsinnott5952 They are usually less active early, and become more active throughout the day. Bike rentals are hard to come by right now. REI usually has something, but I would start by calling the local bike shops close to where you'll be staying.

    Grew up all over that area, late 60s and 70s, before the trails and the center were there. There used to be a cave over the mountain, back side of Cowles Mountain. Tourmalines, I think. Anyone remember? Of course, in those days
    There weren't alot of people around hiking. Shocking to see the crowds.
    The dam was very special..
    Overall, well done San Diego!

    I did e ticket once. It’s fun but not fun enough to warrant the climb out imo. The part where you go left at that jump you hit is more fun than e ticket itself. Fast and flowy.

      That is a very valid opinion. I've only done it a few times for the same reason. The trail itself is really fun, but the amount of fire road required to get there, then the climb out, leave it at the bottom of my list of favorite trails to ride.

    I’m about to get into mountain biking and I live in sd too but man rattlesnakes scare the shit out of me lol. I feel like I’m gonna bail and fall onto snakes 😂

    love E-Ticket. Did it Wednesday. like the video. have you tried after E-ticket and rock garden then dropping down across the creek, around by visitor center/mast blvd then back up fortuna saddle? about a 12 mile round trip with hardest climb ive done (more than cowles).

      I have not done that loop. I've hiked up that trail, and can't imagine riding it. I don't think I'd be able to ride it with my current gearing. Can you make that climb?

      ​@@MTBTrailReview I've been able to climb back up fortune to about 100 feet from the top several times. gets steep and sandy and your just exhausted at that point. I think that one hill is overall harder than cowles mtn backside.

      @@MTBTrailReview i can make it till about 15 feet from the top. gets very sandy at the end and by that point you want to throw up from the rest of the hill!

      I have not ridden it, but I've hiked it. I would say it's probably not worth it, and I would do either E Ticket or Cowles instead.

      I think it's fine if you take it slow. I would consider this an intermediate trail. Lake Hodges is a great spot for beginners. Also, Los Penasquitos and Otay Lakes are really good.       Thanks! I have not gone down that section, but it does look fun. I might have to try it the next time I'm out if I'm feeling good. One thing to note, there's usually a lot of hikers on that section, but I was there on a weekday mid-morning, so there weren't to many people out.

      Of course! That's a good question, and I don't know the answer. It's part of Mission Trails, so I would check and see of they are allowed in the park.

    Funny that this video pops up after I accidentally found this trail today! Definitely made me hate mission trails a little less for biking. Also props to that climb at the end, I couldn't make it.

      Thanks! That climb is terrible, and I definitely agree that it makes Mission Trails a little better. I just wish there was a way to access it without all of the fire roads and a little more singletrack.
