    It looks like riding very fast must be dangerous to me.

    Just take some air pressure out of your front tire to get better grip, like 2-3 psi.

    • @MTBTrailReview
      @MTBTrailReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I run about 27 psi with tire inserts, and that's usually pretty good. I think it was more of a mental thing that day. This was one of my first rides back after breaking my collarbone, and the terrain is very similar to the section where I broke it. I need to go ride it again.

      @@MTBTrailReview yeah makes sense, I'm in recovery of my shoulder and thumb, probably riding stuff I shouldn't be currently haha. If your fork is running to fast, or your stack it too high, that could also cause a wash. I get being gun shy, better to ride how you feel comfortable.

      @@bullseye0112 Its necessary and frustrating at the same time. I know I'm riding way below my ability at the moment, and I know why. I think it's just a mix of time and patience. Thanks for the advice and good luck in your recovery!

      I may do a group ride out there at some point, but I honestly don't go to often. It's a pretty long drive from my house.

    Wow, that ride brings back some great memories, I lived in Poway and rode Sycamore Canyon many times. I like riding up Scripps Poway Pwy to the Hwy and then drop into the parking area.

      That's a good loop. I need to get back out there and get some redemption now that I have my confidence back.

      We started at the Sycamore Canyon lot right off the 67. I'd recommend starting in the Poway lot if that's an option for you.

    Nice. A couple of suggestions. First, start at the Poway parking lot accessed by Sycamore Canyon Road. This will terminate at the smaller dirt parking lot at the Martha's and Beeler's trailheads. Cardiac is a fire road that is aptly named and pretty low on the funometer. If you ride Beeler's from the lot, don't do it as an out and back, rather at the end of the trail, ride back on your recently driven Sycamore Canyon Road, to the aforementioned parking lot. Second, after the fun and chunky Marthas, continue straight to Stowe Trail. Stowe, to be legal and not risk bike CONFISCATION by the few and proud, requires a USMC permit. www.miramar.marines.mil/Resources/StoweTrail/. Lots of challenging and fun trails accessed off of Stowe such as: Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, Mongo and Spaceballs .

      I used to ride the Santee trails a lot, then out to Martha's. I just need to get the Stowe pass, and I would start from the Santee side (much closer to my house). Do you know the status of the Santee trails? I haven't been out there for awhile. Last I heard they were still unsanctioned, but the land managers didn't really care.

    This is one of my favorite trails but you missed the best part! If you keep going straight where you turned around it is a sick flowy singletrack that is super fast. At the other end there is a concrete fire road to climb straight up out of the valley and makes a loop to be back up with the fire road up top. Much better than climbing back up the way you came. We start down by Santee lakes and ride the Stowe trail up through Gooden ranch and sycamore canyon. Make sure you get your military pass if you want to do Stowe though!

    • @MTBTrailReview
      @MTBTrailReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought I remembered something else beyond that, but I wasn't sure if it was on military land. Thanks for the heads up!

    • @bmanchargerfan
      @bmanchargerfan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MTBTrailReview no problem! And don't worry about accidentally going on military land, they put a sign every fifty feet telling you to stay on the trail when you hit the military property! That's only on the lower part of the Stowe trail though

    What kind of set up do you use for filming while riding. I have been using the hero 7 with chest mount. Stabilization is an issue.

    • @MTBTrailReview
      @MTBTrailReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the Rylo with no gimbal. I love the stabilization, but the editing and upload process can be difficult if you do not have good software.
