True Dual H Pipe Dual Borla XR1 Racelines Quad Center Exit NO RASP for a 3.8l V6 Camaro / Firebird

- With better clearances than speed engineering and others with the similar routing, this exhaust setup gives the 3.8l v6 camaros and firebirds very unique sounds with the long desired NO RASP at higher rpms. The only performance mods besides the exhaust, is an intake, egr delete, and dyno tune. THIS IS A STOCK CAM CAR! So what you hear doesnt include any extra cylinder fill or overlap changing the sound to sound better. There are 2 vibrant resonators, 2 borla xr1 raceline mufflers, and quad dual wall tips.

I have the Speed Engineering True Duals x pipe system + pacesetter on my 3.8 bird. Absolutely loved the sound. Sounds great bro
I was debating buying that system for my 3.8....does it get rid of that annoying rasp? Did you have a shop fab it up or did u do it yourself????
@@fbodyblack it does get rid of the annoying rasp on the top end. But because the Pacesetter headers are unequal length, there's still a little bit of harshness at around 2000 RPM or so if you hold it there.
This time around I'm getting some custom equal length downpipes made to make my Pace setters function like long tube headers.
But overall it's definitely a great bang for the buck. Especially considering most new Cat-Back exhausts that come for the 3800 are the same price if not more expensive than the SE x pipe system.
Was going to have a shop do the install, but no one wanted to touch it, because I wasn't installing cats with it. So my father and I just did it ourselves and our driveway

Thank you for posting this! We are getting ready to start on a heads / cam '97 3800 Camaro, and would like to do this with the exhaust. I've never heard a system that so successfully deals with the 3800 "rasp". Great work!

@@MooresMotorsports Thank YOU very much for sharing your build! We're just putting in a 206/216 zzp VS cam, so it's not a real hot cam, but hopefully the exhaust will accentuate what little lope it has.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you do your egr delete?
@@strong_voice_of_truth honestly, I only even know how the exhaust sounds with a cam lope because I tuned the idle down low to allow the stock cam to show itself. Not a big cam or not, you’re sure to hear it.
And the egr delete was a simple pack of two plates that one bolted to the intake manifold and the other bolted to the headers. Module is completely removed. Egr is tuned out of the computer. Those block off plates I got before the whole epa thing went wild though. Might have to cut down a sheet of metal, drill a hole, lay some rtv, and bolt it down yourself nowadays.
@@MooresMotorsports Sounds simple enough to do. Thanks. This is my son's first car. He's about to turn 18. It's a really clean car out of FL with the 3800 and Y87 performance package on it (rear disks, quick ratio steering box, 3.42 posi, and dual exhaust tips). He got it for not much money because it has a bad head gasket. I just happen to have a low-miles L26 out of a 2008 Buick that we are going to build- port the heads, install the cam and supporting mods (valve springs, dual timing set). We're going with an S-10 torque converter for a higher stall. Hoping to get it to run some mid 13's in the quarter and still be really nice to drive.
@@strong_voice_of_truth very nice! Just be careful with the dual timing chain. When I worked on high hp LS cars, we actually stayed away from them because the cover had to be shaved and it caused a greater weak point than the single chain. Didn’t really have issues with a single chain setup. Granted that’s a diff engine and I never ran a dual chain on these engines so I’m not sure what it entails. Just wanted to give a heads up. I do know the 4l60e likes an unusually high stall too. Not sure of the s10 converter off the top of my head, but paired with the v6, I imagine it will be fine. I hope all goes well, it seems like an exciting first build with your son! I’m sure he will enjoy it!

About to put a similar setup on my bird. Ain difference is 2.5" and flowmaster fx mufflers. Its getting a zzp gt1 xam as well. Should sound nice.

That is a good sounding 3800, but I've owned many V6 engines in my day and used many styles of exhaust on them and there's literally no way to not get some drone. I think the mufflers that I've used that had the least amount of drone were some cherry bomb vortex.
I actually really don’t have any drone with this. All the sound is outside, it’s actually peaceful in the cabin. Lol

@@kskip4242 hey I understand you having a hard time believing it and I don’t blame you. I went through almost a dozen different setups trying to cure the rasp and drone in this thing. All different types of exhaust setups. This is the only one that stuck and it’s a rather extensive setup for an exhaust system. So definitely, no offense taken. 🤙🏼

Mid length. If you want longtubes for this, you have to custom make them.
Need to do high revs. Otherwise you can't make your claim of no drone
I did hit some high rpms at the end, but I’ll have more videos soon for sure. Have a couple dyno runs so far. But the rasp on this car has always been bad anywhere north of 2500rpms. I still hit 4500 in the video at the end.
Do you remember what model the borla mufflers were.

I really wanna know how much a setup like this would cost. I want to eliminate the rasp but don't want to spend too much.
It’s about the cost of a good set of long tubes for an LS. All parts and labor for the entire system came to around $1500 after taxes.

Yea, it was a Connecticut barn find. Sat for 10yrs. I’m working on cutting and rewelding new frame rails and floor pans. Then sanding, respraying, and coating the underside.
@@MooresMotorsports my 94 3.4 came from Cincinnati I just started the restoration. I'm really curious how the 3.4 would sound with a true dual H pipe exhaust. Completely different than the typical single fbody exhaust systems.

They already have an interesting burble to their sound anyway, imagine long tube headers H pipe and some decent Mufflers on one of those Motors I bet it would sound badass. @@captaindragonslayerking3913 maf relocate, short ram air intake, heat shield box, mid length headers, egr delete, 180 thermostat, and a dyno tune. I think that’s it that contributes to power in any way.

you have to buy the headers, resonators, and mufflers all separate, then have an exhaust shop make it. I designed this true dual h pipe setup for this camaro and had a shop fabricate it for me based on my specs. You cant buy this setup anywhere.

I just used a universal one that was set for the diameter of the pipe and I think it was 10” long.

@@kurrentevent the headers are just ceramic midlength pacesetter headers. From there it hits the catless h pipe. Then there are 2 vibrant resonators. Then after the axle or two borla xr1 raceline mufflers. Then the pipes get brought to the center to the generic quad tips that are dual wall. Piping is 3” all underneath and the quad tips are 3” in to match the piping and 4” out.

Parts are pacesetter mid length headers, true dual h pipe custom designed and made, dual vibrant resonators, dual borla raceline mufflers, then 2 dual wall dual outlet exhaust tips.
Did you customize yours yourself or you can buy it like that?
I came up with the design and had an exhaust shop near me put it together.
Do you make this exhaust kit that I can buy and have shipped to my house that I could bolt on?
I don’t. I came up with the idea and gave basic instructions to the exhaust shop I went to, and then they built it. Never thought about making it an actual item because I didn’t think there would be enough interest in it.

What kind of trailing arms are those and how much
Pretty sure they were just generic poly busing tubular arms. This was a while back so I don’t remember anymore. Umi and BMR should have them as well, I don’t know what prices they sell for off the top of my head.

Not uncommon for these actually. A lot have quad exit, just typically 2 on each side. There was the cme though too which was a quad center.
