    I guess it's worth noting that HON66 lock has 6 wafers, wafer #6 is always 1. Also, on factory locks wafer #5 on A side is 5 or 3 and wafer #5 on B side is 5 or 2. Things get way more interesting when lock is not original or worn. If key is worn - decoding (reading with machine) one side of the key will not match decoding of other side, making this game even more interesting. Worst of all, nobody is willing to pay for extra knowledge which is required when dealing with this lock.

      Good info! I think this lock system is garbage overall. But you can make good money fixing or replacing when they inevitably fail.

    Hey, I’m new to lock smith I’m located in Richmond ,Va and I love this video , I should be receiving my Lishi set this week , can you help me out ? After I pick a lock and I got my number for A and B side where do I input those numbers ? What program did you use or do I put them directly into my Xhorse cutter ?

      to see if you have a valid code you can use insta code or lock codes. the xhorse key machine can progress as well but I never do it with the machine.. I mostly use lockcodesl.com in the field. but I also have insta code

    • @BoredLockpicker

      I use lock codes and insta code. It doesn’t matter which one you use though. If you aren’t entering a valid code into them they aren’t going to work. If you aren’t sure on a space you need to use the plus one feature on either program.

    • @phillipzan2005
      @phillipzan2005 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoredLockpicker What is the plus one feature? I actually have not heard of that before.
      I think my biggest issue on the Honda that I seem to notice is trying to get the pick to stay centered when I am holding it and reading then trying to juggle my phone or note pad to write the depth numbers down. Cause depending on some of them if you hold it more to one side it can give one number or a different. If that make sense. I did get my hands finally on a broken honda ignition cylinder, that I am confident I can fix(the shop had no idea I could fix those so they only called me to program the new keys that came with the new cylinder). So hopefully that will be a good one to practice on at anytime.

    New to this. I'm considering buying this tool because I'm sick of calling AAA when I lock myself out lol. You're obviously experienced and move really fast. Are there any good resources for complete beginners learning to use this tool? Also, I'm wondering why your tool is upside down? I'd think they'd make it so the numbers were right side up, but I'm probably missing something. Thanks!

    • @BoredLockpicker
      @BoredLockpicker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not one of the easier ones to learn on. The lock has to be picked twice then picked back to the home position. As far the tool being upside down…it can be inserted either way just like a key. I’m right handed so it’s easier for me to pick it counter clockwise. If you’re actually going to use it to unlock a vehicle. Hondas unlock clockwise so you would probably insert it the other way to pick it clockwise. I think you’d be better off just getting a couple of what they call service keys cut. They’re just metal keys no chip in them that you can use to unlock it.

    I'm playing with random (unknown model) newer Honda door lock (picked it up in body shop) right now and it made be totally mad. It has code written on it, so I know all the numbers, BUT! First of all, at unknown reason, it's extremely hard to pick either way - everything is counter intuitive, to be short - in most cases only random playing with tumblers and direction of tension (!!!) allows to pick it. Second - after hours of trying, I couldn't pick (turn) it twice. Not sure if it has different design or what. It still possible to read numbers, BUT! If I pick it one way - I can only read one side (say - B, positions 1,2,3,4,5), side A would show totally incorrect readings. If I pick it other way, I can read positions 2,3,4 of side A, but side B would show totally incorrect readings. Never together! I never ever would want to do it in real life, spending hours outside the car and trying to figure it all out. This is definitely stupidest lock, taking in consideration all of its flaws.

    • @BoredLockpicker
      @BoredLockpicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s wild you can’t pick it twice. I haven’t ran into that issue yet on a Honda lock. I wouldn’t mind taking a crack at it and see if I can pick it all the way over.

    • @sergey_sovetsky
      @sergey_sovetsky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoredLockpicker It's ether damaged or different indeed. It's from newer car, not seized or anything, looks clean. Today I was able to pick it second time, but it was done by random playing with tumblers and shaking lishi (!!!). I was able to read correct numbers on both sides, but as soon as I released pressure on lishi, lock returned in first picked position (so it only needed to be picket once to return back home). This is just nuts. Maybe this lock requires slightly different lishi. I don't know.

      @@BoredLockpicker it gets hung up a lot trying to go between cuts, it's the only lishi that seems to have this issue. It does work, but easier to pull a code once it's open.

      I've had quite a bit of success with hon66 here in NZ. But I do find that I'm often unlocking old worn out Hondas so it can be a bit difficult getting that tool moving when the lock is already a bit stuffed.
      Could air bag and hook the button in half the time but it looks far cooler to the customer if I can pick it in a couple of minutes.

    I like your videos but don't like that you use your lishi upside down, which confusing to your viewers which I think they're the majority of your audience!

      I think most of my viewers on these are locksmiths and I hope locksmiths aren't confused by this......

      To be fair I’ve had lots of practice. But this one imo is not very hard.
