  • A daytime session in August (recorded 17.08.21) at Langney Point in Eastbourne (East Sussex, UK). My first summer outing here, fishing for plaice and soles. I fished the tide up and a few small bass and smooth hounds also made an appearance. Thanks Philip - my favourite fish, so I'm often using boom rigs and very short snood rigs, with small hooks just in case they are around.👍

      Thanks Mike. There seemed to be a bit of a pattern on this occasion - plaice just after the turn of the tide at low, small bass as the tidal pull picked up, soles appearing just before the top and small smooth hounds at the top of the tide.

    Hi Mick. For me that would have been an excellent session! Brilliantly filmed (as always) and helpfully informative. I've noticed that you move up and down the beach quite a lot when fishing. Is that why I can't recall you ever using a shelter? I tend to be a bit of a lazy so and so...plant my shelter fairly high up the beach and walk backwards and forwards (and up and down if it's a steep shingle beach) quite a lot to cast and retrieve. Come to think of it, that's probably why I feel tired after a session! Cheers. Ken

      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have shelters, but hardly ever take them now - were used mainly for night fishing comfort. I much prefer to be close to the water's edge than set up on the strand line. Sometimes you get bites on both rods and I want to be near them at the time - although not always possible if you are having to move your gear up and down the beach with the tide! It's personal choice really. Thanks for watching and commenting again Ken.

    Although still not caught my first flatfish. Plenty of other species.

    Hi , is always a pleasure to watch your videos, can you please make a video about rods and reels? The where and what to use , I'm a beginner in shore fishing and don't really know how to choose the rods , what length and TS curve . Thank you

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Florin - I appreciate your support and suggestion; however I'm trying to keep this channel focusing on catching at different venues, rather than general fishing and tackle. There are plenty of videos out there from others covering rod and reel choice for beginners and I'm not sure I could do as good a job as those. Nevertheless I will try to mention why I use the gear I do, when relevant and when I remember to, and in particular rig choice and making, since they are at the business end of catching. Thanks for watching.

    Looks a little bit bassy . Mackerel head on a 6/0 20-30 yards out ?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - the colour looked right, just need a bit more of a chop on the water for the bigger ones to show. I have caught on mackerel heads before, but at night - its too much of a gamble for me during daytime, especially if the shoals of mackerel are not around. Good suggestion though and thanks for watching John.

  • @johnsmith-rs2vk

    Is it an advantage to add small weights on the hook snoods when fishing for flatties ?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If there are strong currents and you're not fishing that far out, its probably worth a try John. However, I tend to just put a drilled bullet or coffin lead above the rig, if I want to nail my sole rigs tighter to the bottom, but again that tends to reduce casting distance.
