  • www.photopaperdirect.com having been offering original cartridges on the site, we are always asked as to the difference between original and compatible cartridges. In this video we test the two options, using a brand new Canon printer and the same paper / settings. Enjoy!

    I am using compatible cartridges and I do not have any problems with them and they are 80% cheaper then originals.

      I have used compatible cartridges. They were crap!! I've bought some and after a short time, not only it ran out. It was dry.

    The video isn't meant to provide conclusive learnings. We have bought the compatible cartridges from known and popular online store (in a similar manner to many other customers who would buy from them) and simply tested one against the other.
    I do agree that compatibles vary in their quality, but how would a regular home user or small business owner suppose to know that. Original it seems offer more consistency, but again compatibles should not be ruled out

    Interesting but very inconclusive . . . whose compatible cartridges are you using? There are enormous differences between the many compatibles available. We could not afford to run our department without compatibles. The ones we use have a much greater capacity than the originals

    Can anyone tell me if I want to buy as printer now (Aug 2021) in UK to use compatible inks with which would be the best one to go with. I prefer canon but not essential.

    Compatible or OEM. Epson inktank in best. Genuine ink very cheap just need to print regularly.

    ... disable the ink gauge (hold the red STOP/triangle button for 5s when ink out error appears). There is no way for the (re)manufacturer to reset the ink gauge on the cartridges. These compatible cartridges must have had at least 50% of ink still in it after the test!

    Lol at someone paying £1.15/page for compatible ink. It's like £2 for a set of four Epson cartridges. It's more like >1p/page, including the paper

      @@rocky-zx6kq The ink flow has to be stopped by using a stopper and reopened only once the prints start appear fading. CISS is simply an automated refill system and can never be the same as an inktank printer

    You can get decent compatible cartridges for 0,25€ each, it means 1€ for a complete set if your printer have slots for 4 color cardridges, and it means 0,04€ per page with compatible cartridges.

    It looks like Canon have sent the two printers free of charge to advertise this propaganda. After all, the printer manufacturers make a bomb out of selling these ridiculously overpriced cartridges. It is always the case that the cartridges sent with the new printer have deliberately low quantity of ink, and there is no way these cartridges would out-perform the compatible XL cartridges as usually supplied. Note that he does not state anything about the amount of ink in the cartridges before starting the test. I have been using compatible ink cartridges for at least 12 years without any problems. They print well (NO STREAKS!), and last a very long time. If I had purchased manufactures ink cartridges over this period I would have been out of pocket by hundreds of pounds for nothing!

    • @shrujanamsyama9940
      @shrujanamsyama9940 ปีที่แล้ว

      The compatible cartridge is normal one whereas the original cartridge is XL. This is why there is difference in number of pages. Yes, I agree that it is most likely a paid video

    Expensive to run this printer. Get an Megatank or HP Instant ink. 7.5 p per page or less with the instant ink program.

    • @evandrinks
      @evandrinks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would depend on what printer you have, if there is a big difference. Original inks will always look higher quality for your pictures when compared to compatibles. I use a Canon Pro 100 for most of my prints, and I only use the Genuine ink. I know some people who have tried using compatible inks and they tell me that the quality is similar, but that the prints will fade after a few weeks. I also know a few people who have used compatible cartridges, and they have broken their printers. Overall, I would say that genuine ink will always be what I use.

    Not really a true comparison, some compatibles are cheap quality, and others are much better, for example, Cartridge People cartridges are great quality, I have used theirs for years and no issues with banding etc. Plus we have no ideas what the settings are on each printer, and whether the printer needed a print head clean after installation. At the end of the day you will still get more prints with compatible because you can afford to buy 2 or 3 sets for the price of the originals!!
