      Can't you just disable this Genuine cartridge check in advanced settings in HP Smart? We have a similar menu on hp laserjet pro ml203dn, and we just disabled the fake cartridge check. Hence, we are using third party toner which is 4 times cheaper, with 9nly issue so far being printer warning about low toner level way before it needs to, but otherwise printing despite warnings

    Pro tip: insert empty syringe into cartridge first and pull the plunger up to create a vacuum inside the cartridge, you should then be able to inject the new ink much easier with less mess!

I just canceled my subscription, and they told me that I cannot you the 4 filled cartridges that are installed in the printer and that I have to buy new ones from the story. Syringe tip: When you've finished with a syringe you will use again, but maybe not for a good while store with the plunger pulled out a quarter inch from fully in. When you come to use it, just push it fully home to get it moving. Sometimes the seal sticks in the barrel and will detach from the plunger when pulled..

    A HUGE THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS ON YOU TUBE! I COUDN'T AGREE MORE ABOUT HP's price gouge ink scam. I refuse to pay their outrageous prices for ink. They also block 3rd party cartridges when their printers are updated, so make sure to not update, and disable updates if using other cartridges. It's a huge hassles to reset some printers.

    I'm glad you mentioned marking your cartridges A B, etc for switching them out... I refilled my cartridges A and popped them back in the machine. The printer prints fine but I have an error message stating used or remanufactured cartridges detected. I thought about switching the A cartridges out with the still sealed package HP cartridges (B) and then reinstalling the A cartridges later, but since I'll know when my ink is getting low, simply by seeing cruddy printing, I'll know to pop the B's in. Since I have to replace my cartridges every 3 months, I should have plenty of bottled ink for a few years. Thank you!

    • @artysanmobile
      @artysanmobile 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@markfesenk0 Why so many updates? Epson, for one, uses that firmware update to invalidate third party ink cartridges, one model at a time. They figured out how to hurt the consumer in the most efficient possible manner. Many 3rd parties have paid the license and STILL, Epson cancels their products via “firmware updates.” It is criminal and I expect they will pay some enormous fine eventually. When you think about it, why would a printer ever need a firmware update? This is why.

      @@markfesenk0 Printer manufacturers use those firmware updates to add to their list of 3rd party inks the printer will refuse to use. The worst ones - hello Epson - even use firmware updates to deny inks that have been licensed previously. There is literally no legitimate reason to ‘update’ a printer.

  • @pgScorpio
    @pgScorpio ปีที่แล้ว +22

    For some printers you might even need 3 to 5 cartridge sets, since they remember the last 2 to 4 used cartridges.
    No need to refill all of them though. Just re-install the old (empty) cartridges one after another (turn printer off-on between changes). Then re-install the refilled one.
    To "fool" the printer you best use original cartridges, since non OEM cartridges often have the same, limited, range of serial numbers, so there is a fair chance you will have duplicate serial numbers and so this trick might not work.

    Just came across your video today.
    I did the same thing with my old HP. It wasn't as advanced (Stupid) as your printer. It had a 2 cartridge memory for each colour. So I had 3 cartridges which I switched around - numbered 1, 2 and 3. When cartridge 1 and 2 were empty (of the same colour) I just had to install cartridge 3 and the printer would accept the cartridge. No stupid questions or anything 🙂

  • @richardanderson5424

    When you install Epson cartridges it sets a timer going to estimate how many days printing you will be likely to do. I do not print things out ver much at all (less than 1 document/month) so it always said that one or more of the cartridges were empty when they definitely are almost full. You could buy a device from JR that you could fit some cartridges into securely and with a bit of perseverance fit other cartridges securely enough to allow the zapper to work. This would reset the timer. I bought one of those continuous ink systems for it but you had to remove the lid from the cartridge slot and my printer didn’t recognise the continuous ink cartridge as being fitted. I no longer use that printer even though I have refills and cartridges .The yellow head seems to be completely blocked even with new refill you can’t see anything and you need to do a few test prints to get the others to print consistently.if you do print quite a bit though the Zapper did work if you can still get them. I think the printer was an r285 which had an adapter so you could print on suitable CD/DVDs. I now use an HP mono laser printer which is quick and I think the toner doesn’t dry out and lasts longer than ink. I also have an older mono laser printer. It isn’t supported after Windows XP but I have found an old pc and an XP installation disc so I will use that.

    BTW I bolted down to Staples to grab a quick replacement set before finding & watching your video and got sticker shock on the 962XL 4 color which was $122.99 before tax and roughly $132.00 OTD I thought thank goodness there were not like French fries with choices coming in sizes small, medium, or large.

If I did I would have drilled a hole at the back for draining excess ink. I always clean off the cartridge very well before putting back but I realized the pins inside the printer when the cartridge lines up had some ink on them so I used a qtip to clean and it worked just fine. @@NotSo-bp9opHigher cost of entry, yes. But that extra upfront cost is saving you a lot of money and a lot of headache in the long run. If this guy had an EcoTank (for example), he could have bought the same refill kit or similar off Amazon and just poured the bottle right into the tank. No hassle. No syringes. No having to "trick" the printer software to get it to work properly. Simple process. I'll never buy a standard cartridge based system ever again, unless cartridge prices plummet. And even then, it it would still be more hassle than a tank based printer because you would have to buy another cartridge set and/or do this extra long refill process every single time. Tank based is fill and forget for a considerable amount of time.

      It takes less than 10min. Howuch do you make at work? $25/hr? $20/hr? 35/hr? The price of those bottles is less than an hours worth of work. A cartridge is an hour of work. Refilling takes less than 10min. The bottles last for multiple fills. The amount of times you can refill, you're saving a few weeks of pay.
