I absolutely LOVE the 59 Plymouths !!!! I grew up in a 59 !!!! My dad bought a new 59’ Savoy in August of the year !!!! Great car …. It got me and my parents to the 1964 Worlds Fair in Flushing NY!!!
Hi Donald, Happy to read "I absolutely LOVE the 59 Plymouths !!!!" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car. Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful example of the Forward Look, a thrill a minute as they said back then. You can see the FINS as your driving in the mirrors looking back. Like flying a rocket ship 🚀.
Never been a Plymouth brand fan but this car is exceptionally handsome. Nice styling and details. The dual antennas set it off. Great restoration. Thanks
My dad died in Feb. Nick died in Sept. They were life-long friends. This was Nick's car. This video means a lot. Maybe one day I'll meet you at Carlile w dad's car. A 53 MG TD. Thanks for the great video.
Stunning example of a rare '59, even more rarely seen in this beautiful Bronze Metallic. Plymouth's unusual fabric offering on these '59-only Sport Furies is a standout, with its nubby fabric color-keyed to their exterior paint colors. Dan's freshly installed interior looks wonderful. And I think the swivel seats were standard on only two of Chrysler's offerings for '59 - the Sport Fury featured here and the Chrysler 300-E - and optional on all Chrysler's other offerings including the Imperial. Looking closely at the swivel seat seen here, you'll see the bench-seat seat frame that passes under the fixed center section. Chrysler built so few bucket seat interiors that it didn't offer individual left-side/right-side seat tracks on any of its '59-'61 swivel seat cars. Thanks for the video!
The fins will return when the flying cars arrive. Love em ! As a kid in the sixties I could identify most makes and models by their distinctive styles.Dodge and Plymouth had a style of their own right out of "whoville"
The Canadian version of the 59 Plymouth Fury is the 59 Plodge Viscount (I called it a Plodge since it has a 59 Dodge Cornet front end on a 59 Plymouth Fury body).
Great car ! Love the fins. The craftmanship then blows me away. funny 318 story,,, I used to stop by a local Wheels And Deals years ago (gone now). Sometimes something cool like the '66 7 litre Galaxie (a fave) or a black '73 or so Challenger with a 318. I dig it and some guy asks for the keys. Fires it up and red lines it, looking for a miss. Nope. He buys it. About a month later, i'm at a local Winston shop (gone too) with my '72 Chev Step Side (yes, gone ;( and here comes the dude with the Challenger, screaming ! no, the 318 ain't just a grocery getter ! When I was a kid in the early 1960's, my grandpa had a four-door '59 Plymouth Belvedere in a colour similar to the Fury shown here. My parents used it as their wedding car in 1960 (I wasn't around yet but I've seen the photos) and we took it on our first family trip over the border (or "across the line" as my mom used to say) to the USA back in about '65 maybe. At that time, my parents owned a British car and I thought the Plymouth was a spaceship compared to that dowdy little Morris Oxford that sat in our driveway.

Gorgeous machine. I remember back in the '70's and '80's when the only Fury's that received attention were the '56-'58 models. Now you look at the later one's and see them as works of art. On a personal note, I cannot look at '59 Plymouth and not think of the classic movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"! Does anyone else recall the great chase scene with the cabs? My favorite movie of all time.
Back during my hippy days, I tooled around in a 1959 Savoy--the bargain basement model, with a flat-six (so smooth!), and three on the tree. It was beautiful, thanks to someone before me, painting it a "Seafoam Green"--that looked blue to me!...I installed a powerful--for the time (mid-70s) 100 watt stereo with Jensen Speakers. I would pull up at a light, and just blare out my favorite Hendrix tunes!..Lots of disturbed stares from those "straight" folks in their newer cars!...that large car had no frills--no power brakes, no power steering, etc. I was a stronger man, back in those days!..lol
Mr. Morton's Fury is just fantastic! The interior is amazing, too and I think friend of the channel Mr. Guyer needs to send a matching shirt along to another fellow, "Fin Fan"... 😉 Thanks, Lou!
The 1957 to 1960 Plymouth by Virgil Max Exner, was called the star of the Forward Look . Beautiful shark FINS and the very best engineering and Torqueflight Automatic Transmission. PLYMOUTH is ahead for keeps as the ads would proclaim. And they were rightfully so. Space Age Style ✨️.

Is it possible to look better than brand new? This is an amazing Sport Fury, color combo and upscale trim look are fantastic. A real pleasure to view - thank you gents 👍
Cool Plymouth. One thing I have noticed over many years is that the Chrysler Corperation seemed to have some of the wildest interiors back in those days. :) It would be considered gawdy today, but I think it gos so well with the fins and all the chrome and stainless trim and accents that were just plastered all over the cars of those days. I've always been a Chevy guy, but the Chrysler/Mopars have drawn me in for as long as I can remember because they were just different. Thank you again for sharing Lou. Take care. Edit: That plaque from the previous owner's Son is just icing on the cake for this one. Very cool to have it back with the car where it belongs.
Seems like 1959 was a special year for Plymouth and many other makes. The 60 fury was the addition of tinsel and a more sculped front quarter panne. By 62 on the other hand the fins were gone and the whole thing was getting that rocket ship look.😊

One of my "cool" cousins had an all-black '59 Sport Fury with a 361 4-bbl V8 "Golden Commando"(you gotta love the names they used for car lines, trim, engines & transmissions back then) & swivel front bucket seats. She married an Air Force jet pilot in '62 and drove the Fury from Detroit to Edwards AFB in California & back a few times. The first girl I knew that had a need for speed. Great times.
¡Excelente video Lou, y saludos!
Hi Art Boston, Fun to see the cars with fins :-) If I see them, they're in great condition, and the Caretaker is willing to share them, then you'll see them too, Lou
What a thumbnail _ Grabbed my coffee for this one, and i ain't going nowhere _ Man-o-man what fins _ Buckles on the door panels _ Great upholstery, i could go on and on - Thanks for bringing this to us here Lou and thanks to the owner for displaying this work of automotive art. . . :>/
That’s a sweet ride. My uncle had one he bought new. I don’t think it was sport model I remember it having the trunk lid like this one it was a beige or tan color and the grill up front was gold in color. I don’t remember much more about it that was too long ago. But thank you so much for sharing these jewels with us.
Awesome Mopar! That's a classic! This 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury looks like something your buddy Randy Guyer would own to have in his massive collection. That 318 engine sounds healthy, and the interior looks great, with the exception to the head liner. As with any Mopar in that era, it has the dashboard mounted rear view mirror. The Bronze exterior paint job looks great as well. Those old Mopars are so cool! Another classic gem Lou! 👍👍
You're right Michael, I need one of these for my collection! My restorer (Mike) is doing one now for his father that will be red. I know they're going to lean on me to buy it when it is done.
What an auto. You always show the best cars. Those headliner trusses are unusual. I always see them running across instead of the length of the body..He put a lot of work into that car. Glam!! lol. Peace.
The trunk alone looks amazing. I think George Jetson had 1 of these..lol! Really y has a presence to it. Very cool interior & must be a real conversation starter wherever he goes. Swivel seats & love these old bubletops..

What a piece! It's great to see such a super clean classic Plymouth. The design of the car is just amazing. Overall the '57 - '61 model years of Fury have an epic styling.
Yeah Lou, I love how people actually LOVED and TOOK CARE of their cars back in the good days. Unlike today where we basically just 'put up' with a vehicle because they're really isn't much to look at anyway but just to use it for transportation and that's all. So sad. So let's keep our thoughts on the good days of yesteryear!
Yeah lonnyjaw, You're right. Buying a car was a big deal and you valued the car you purchased. Most vehicles today are transportation only. Good news! You're subscribed to the right TH-cam Channel to take a look back at the cars you enjoy :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
These swoopy, rare Mopars of that era are so rare, because in most parts of the country, Chrysler products in particular would rust rather quickly...more so than the other big car companies during that time frame. so sad, because Chrysler really was so innovative in style terms, from the later 50s and into the early 70s. And their larger engine offerings were just so ahead of the others, for a few years....413, 383, 426, 340, etc. What a line-up!

Beautiful car. My dad wrenched on and drove his friend's '59 Sport Fury a number of times at Lions Drag Strip in the mid sixties. It had a 1964 426 Max Wedge in it to run in B/MP (NHRA) and C/HR F.1 (AHRA). My dad drove it to four wins in six times out in the heads up money bracket (and several class wins) at Lions Drag Strip in the summer of 1965. The car originally came with a 361. In 1966 the car owner dropped in a 480" Hemi with a clutchflite transmission to run in A/MP (NHRA).

Beautiful car Lou. When I see these I can't help but think of Christine even though this one is a 59 not a 58. But I really like the color on it. According to Hagerty a 1959 Plymouth Fury hardtop weigh 3,465 pounds.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing and I would have thought this car weighed more. Lou
When i was a little kid my dad had this same car, but it was a 4 door hardtop in light blue with the same color as this car inside (i think, color may have been blue but i am pretty sure inside was brown). It had the sport deck (toilet seat) also.
Beautiful, and not common one tone color. Best looking 59 probably. Trunk reminds me of a 58 Packard Hawk, which stole that design idea from Imperial I think.
It's awesome to see a Story where the owner has had the car for a long time and has lavished love and attention on it. I would have liked to have heard more about his web site and maybe one or two people, of interest, that contacted him. I don't have one of these cars but if I did I would have wanted to get his web site information. The video work was excellent on this Story.

The paint color on this rolling art is too perfect. And the owner's respect for the original owner and his family is impressive. This is a winner!

funny 318 story,,,
I used to stop by a local Wheels And Deals years ago (gone now).
Sometimes something cool like the '66 7 litre Galaxie (a fave) or a black '73 or so Challenger with a 318.
I dig it and some guy asks for the keys. Fires it up and red lines it, looking for a miss. Nope.
He buys it.
About a month later, i'm at a local Winston shop (gone too) with my '72 Chev Step Side (yes, gone ;(
and here comes the dude with the Challenger, screaming !

When I was a kid in the early 1960's, my grandpa had a four-door '59 Plymouth Belvedere in a colour similar to the Fury shown here. I loved it when one of those '59 Furys hit the fire hydrant, and it looked like "Old Faithful" at "Yellowstone"!!
@@turbinexman Yes, with Rochester at the wheel. It's just painful now to see those classics getting torn up!
Yes and a lot of them! you see them in some old tv series and movies.
A really immaculate Sport Fury inside and out. Just love the burble from that engine. A pleasure to see such a car. ❤
Hi Derek, Happy to read you appreciate the condition of this car :-) "A pleasure to see such a car" I agree, Lou

Moms friend Vickey had one of these! I think it was this color.
Hi Jeffrey, Happy to read this car brings back memories of Vickey's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Great car! Love the bronze color and checked upholstery. The fins are awesome. This time period was perhaps the pinnacle of car design imagination.
Hi Delray, Happy to read "Great car!" :-) Enjoy reading the details you notice and share, Lou

Peter Gunn's car in 1959, although his was the convertible Sport Fury in metallic bronze.
Awesome car! Exner Excellence!

Nice car, nice story, thanks for sharing
Hi Chris, My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
What a piece! It's great to see such a super clean classic Plymouth. The design of the car is just amazing. Overall the '57 - '61 model years of Fury have an epic styling.
Hi Plymouth Die-Cast Replicas, Happy to be able to share this one with you :-) Glad to read you enjoy the styling of this car, Lou
MAN! THAT IS SUPER COOL!
High praise :-)
Absolutely beautiful and like new!
Nice !
Just look at the side profile, bliss!
:-)
Too awesome, Plymouth’s icon car such a shame Plymouth gone with the dinosaurs 🦕
Hi David, High praise :-) Lou
Um dos meus preferidos. Um clássico que deixou saudades. maneco - Porto Alegre- RS - Brasil.
Hi manoel teixeira, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
The fins!
They're big ones :-)
My neighbors had that exact car, so stylish, i think the driver seat swiveled for exit.

Hi Scott, Thank you for sharing what you notice, Lou

Great car. Idea: feature the Lunar Rover. I’d love to see the opening. “Today We’re in the moon”. You’re wearing a spacesuit of course. 😂
I like the way you think!
Nice rare car. I still think that the 57 and 58 Plymouth Fury's were way more stylish and prettier than the ones that were made in 59, 60.
Hi Hairy Larry, Happy to read you appreciate this "Nice rare car" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Kip, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful, and not common one tone color. Best looking 59 probably. Trunk reminds me of a 58 Packard Hawk, which stole that design idea from Imperial I think.
Hi Neil, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Cool car nice interior
Hi David, Happy to read you enjoy this "Cool car" :-) Lou
Beautiful Plymouth Fury! Wonder if it repairs itself like Christine?
Hi Alan, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Hmmm, not sure about how this one gets repaired, Lou
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy this one (other than getting website info) :-) Appreciate the kind words on this story, Lou
