- Taking a break from my usual rotation of games to talk about a Real Times Tactics(tm) game I've taken an interest in lately. As told by a tipsy goose. Not a full tutorial, my goal was more to showcase less obvious mechanics and tricks, hope it's helpful! No Conquest! Yet, anyways! Oh, by the way, you need Call to Arms in order to play Gates of Hell: Ostfront, but you don't actually need it installed.

I have over 100 hours in this game and I’m still learning. If you like RTS, or are a WW2 enthusiast, this game is for you. The level of immersion is amazing.
Honestly I think it suffers SO much for how it’s classified as “a DLC with DLC” back in the day this would be more than even an expansion pack! Excited for the new faction. And my opinion is that it’s rough, but I’ve actually found even RTS newbies have a blast blowing up enemy tanks
You can pick up things from the ground when in direct control. Press 'c'; things nearby will get green; Aim at the thing you want to pick up and get close (laying down or kneeling may be required); when the standard crosshair disappears klick LMB. There is a 50/50 chance with picking stuff up and firing into the ground but sometimes it works ;).
That’s absolutely nutty. Idk if they fixed it but recently I’ve been making my engies toss their rifles because there was a bug (? Feature?) causing them to not repair vehicles. They’d stand up and point their rifles at things, but when you toss it, it never happens 😅 this game is a masterpiece
Can officers spot on their own with binocs? Do they randomly look around?
The officers try to use it like a gun. They may point it at enemies for that reason, but i believe theyre programmed to try and pull out their gun whenever a threat comes within shooting distance. If you want, you could try dropping or storing his gun and then seeing how he behaves. I might try it myself bc i dont know. Usually if you f6 or click on an enemy they will try to stick to that point with binos unless something distracts them.

I dont have a red outline on ebemy unjts when i hover my mouse over them is that a mod or something.
Do you mean corpses or live enemies? It could be a setting in the options. I tried to check but my game crashed, last patch destroyed it for me 🤪
@@DeadEndGoose when you go in direct control like 1:03 while you aim at enemy it becomes completely red and has a red outline

Man stop the "le funny" sidetracking and get to the point. Theres nothing worse than trying to learn shit about the game and stuff permanently interrupted by gags.
