The Peugeot 508 is a fantastic all-rounder and this SW estate model adds a huge amount of practicality to the mix. Its boot is bigger than most rivals, with plenty of clever touches including an optional motorised tailgate and hidden compartment under the floor. It may not be quite as sharp to drive as the saloon, but comfort and luxury are top-notch and it certainly feels built to last. Buyers may be put off by the high list price for models at the top of the range, though.
Just took ours on a 2500 mile road trip to Italy and back from the UK. Fully loaded, and at motorway speeds it’s averaged 62.7mpg overall and never missed a beat. An amazingly economical and comfortable car. Highly recommended.
This exact model car?
Which engine please?
Just bought one, it is 1.6 HDI SW model. Had more cars on view to choose from (Vauxhall Insignija, i40, M6, F Mondeo) I have been driving lion cars more than 10 years now (307, 308, 406, 407, 207), but I always look others too before I buy. But for car I will expect economy drive, nice interior, lovely exterior, good equipment and also value. And with P 508SW I got all of those thing with reasonable price. Car is nice to look at, comfortable to drive and I havent had any problems with pugs before, really!.... and most of them drove more than 260 000km in my hands. Only regular checkups and usual stuff (tires, brake pads, belts and etc.) So afcourse I cant say any pad words towards Peugeot cars. But I agree that for everybody has theyr own favourites and we should respect that. Who am I to judge other people car preferences? Safe journey to everybody!

I just bought a 508 SW (2012). It's remarkable how well it drives compared to other cars in this class that I have tried. Also, interiors are excellent!
my parents got the 508 sw gt 2012 its really comfy and got a great ride i have to say
i think this is the best looking peugeot of all time
"automatic gearbox is jerky" she said, changing gear by hand
Because in reality the automatic gearbox of this cars are robotized :/
She's driving a manual and stating a fact. Why is this a problem for you?
@@nigelmtb 9 year comment, phew lad
@@BCBe4tS Only on 1.6hdi, all other have 6 gear Aisin gearbox with Sport mode and Winter mode. Pretty capable unit.
The people bashing this are probably clueless german fanboys, or are lagging 15 years. This Peugeot is classes above every car in its price range. The RXH is a car that has every single thing you can imagine on a car. Only drawback is corner leaning(not much though, and certainly less than passat all road) and slow gearbox when in auto mode (not in sport though). It's fuel consumption is 5.5l/100km or around 45 US mpg. That is a joke compared to the Audi all road which goes up to 9l/100km and passat 8l/100 km,which have 12 hp less. The passat 6 doesn't hold a candle to it and I've tried them both. I own an RXH and the 2.0 HDI engine is a marvel. Sounds like a ceiling fan. My car has 270000 km on it, and has never had a single thing replaced or fixed. 200hp and a consumption 45 US mpg (54 UK), all while having an all road 4x4 vehicle with features which rival a Maserati (talking about the RXH trim) ? Lets see Audi or Volkswagen or Volvo beat this with their all road vehicles.
And we all know about the ride comfort and sexy looks of french cars.
just got a 508 SW about 6 weeks ago, got to disagree ref the jerky auto box. Its as smooth as it gets. Cup/bottle holders aren't a problem if you put them in the right way. All in all an excellent car.
This is the first time I'm thinking of getting a French car.
The gearbox with torque converter comes from Aisin. Cheers.
There's no problem with the cup holder, its just that you need to put the bottle in verticle, although it feels like you should tilt it!
This is a really nice car and the interior space is great.
She used cup holder wrong if you put bottle in at an angle it works fine
Love the driver very cute..but sadly i was looking for a courier estate car but this lovely lady nearly had me buying one..till she mentioned boot space, and comparing it with mondeo estates which i am looking for a fine example..Ford Mondeo titanium x 2.2 or ST version.I had the vectra estate 1.9 cdti so despite its high mileage when i bought it. It still was a really great car once i changed the most needed part replacements..and i managed 40.000 very enjoyable miles in it lived ate and drove in it.. And very fast too..cruised at 85 all day long happily
She compared the boot with Skoda Superb which is bigger then pretty much everything on the road, even from higher class cars.
If you check car sizes you will find that Mondeo Tournier also has a much smaller boot than Superb. Actually new Focus estate has bigger boot than Mondeo estate
The conventional automatic with torque converter from ZF, fitted to the two liter engines and some of the petrol engines, is exellent. Many feel the EMG, the robotized manual, do not shift as smoothly, so please before you order, go for a drive with both automatics before you decide which to buy, since the gearbox make up so much of the driving experience. Cheers.
The gearbox is by Aisin
Great cars! Buy a used model and it'll be thousands of pounds less than a Passat, higher quality and more reliable. Peugeot FTW!!
10 years on that is proven lol 3/4 thousand in the difference
Peugeot better than ford
I think there's a reason why they're called cup-holders and not bottle holders, I don't think a person would ever put their bottle there.
The new facelift had a traditional auto gearbox which is very smooth.. This one is pre facelift and has an robotised manual box which is a bit jerky..
1.6 has robot manual box, 2.0 163 and 2.2 205 ps have 6 speed Aisin box. You can only get the auto in those engines, 2.0 140 is manual only
Automatic gearbox is a bit jerky?? What a hell does that mean?
SteveGisthebest80 it means it isn't smooth, so the gear changes will be fairly rough or clunky
mainly its not even true. It has dual-clutch and you dont feel anything when it shifts. Its not like one clutch gearbox in 308 from the same year for instance.
Karlos, no, the 2013 does not have dual clutch, however, I am surprised as to why she is saying in the video that the gearbox is jerky. It actually shift incredibly smoothly (I have the 2.2 liter diesel), so smooth that people do think its a dual clutch when its not.
means it lasts about 6 months before blowing up
@@seansteel3326 she's driving the 1.6 which has automated manual. It is jerky. You probably have the 2.0 with a proper automatic and it is a joy to have
she revealed the secret floor its no longer a secret, the bottle in a cup holder lol then blames the cupholder :}
She loves the car!
Sponsored by ford.
Every single car is compared to a ford... and lose.
Pedro Honrado So.. this is a budget car.
Same in Germany.. Every test is sponsored by VW
Peugeot engines run longer than Ford.
@@xell1969 both Ford and PSA used same diesel engines until 2018
It's funny that you say the auto box is terrible and the. Change gear with the manual shift. Great one.
How can you compare the 508 with a Skoda Superb? The Superb is bigger than most cars in that class, actually I would say that it is in the A6'ish class...
Because the 508 replaced the 607, which was also in A6 and 5 series class. In fact I think the 508 would essentially be more premium than a Skoda Superb, Peugeot is a much stronger brand with true heritage, unlike Skoda.
Beautiful beautiful car! Well seeing the comments reliability may be an issue but I can't judge since I have never own one.
Ha ha ha brilliant just as she complains of a jerky auto box the changes gear manually love it!!
Since 308 the PUGs are of great quality compared to any other brand, except the THP-engine.
Hi rebecca, nice review. When are you guys going to do the review on tne Vauxhall VXR(HSV) estate review, let alone the sedan? They won't be around after next year !cNo banana this time?
You apparently don't know what you are talking about but no problem. :)
Why would you change the belt more than recommended? Have you noticed that many of the newer chain-cam driven engines have been very unreliable just in that respect? Newest Peugeots have the Continental cam-belt in oil that you don't have to change very often, same is in brand new VW cars, like the Golf. If you choose a Peugeot, choose a engine made by PSA then you are clear (the diesels are a very good choice).
I wish Peugeot would come back to the United States and Canada.
Yeah, Rebecca .......lovely stuff !!
Is it still cold over there ? Here I'm already wearing t-shirt !
Want this car but seeing them cupholders makes me wonder if they work at all for moder smal cans.
They work perfect for cans, exact size, and they work for cups, but not bottles. Bottles work in no cup holder
I have one of these , the gearbox is like a jerky teenager trying to change gear ! CRAP ! But not the worst and sport mode and flappy paddles fun even in a 1.6 Diesel ....
Funny thing the english use liters for volume but refuse to go fully to the metric system.
Beautyful Car and Beautyful Lady.
As it is an estate car review I'd have liked some more time spent on features like loadspace(or lack of it). ? The 308SW has removeable seats -not the 508SW?
If the auto-gearbox is jerky maybe she could have demonstrated that somehow.
That my friend, is called ''cornering light'',
I live in Canada -- French cars not sold here :( -- so I can't be sure, but seems to be the case from watching these videos.
That is a feature of cars even in the 90's and it works well. Its not a reliability issue!
i think the 406 coupe can still take that title, but yes i think this looks much nicer than the somewhat awkward saloon version
No they don't, I have Jaguar and its costing me a fortune to maintain, plastic bits have all broken, the electric seat mechanism is broken, the ABS brake system has failed, as well an oxygen sensor, they tell me that the alternator is whining and a headlight needs to be replaced, (600 euros for that) and a new suspension at 100000 kms, but I love it and it made in the UK lol
0:48 Yummy, nice leather boots.
What is better, Peugeot 508 SW or the 508 RXH
None peugots are shit
+Marco Galindo Any one of them is great. Greatly loved car brand in Nigeria. Classy 508, unbeatable!
The automatic gearbox? Which one? There's 3 available...
Again this boot and rear seat obsession...
This is a banger.
Is it really still that cold out?
She does not have a banana in this video.
I like the interior space, but than i saw the hideous front. I would still go for the Superb even though its rather older.
Putting a bottle in a cup holder?
I speak English too, can you explain?
This car looks like a surfboard turned upside down.
Anyways, I'm watching all these videos just to perv on Miss Jackson. :)
wish this is sold state side!!!
We need a 6 foot chick reviewer for the legroom test!
Are you still in 1992?
Please tell us, which car do you find more reliable so we know where we stand? ;)
5 videos in one day :D nice!
Because for some reason, if you ask a british person whats the best car brand in the world, they will say Ford. I don't know why, but they're just awfully biased about them. They make you think a Mondeo drives like a freaking race car, but when you drive it you realize visibility is HORRIBLE, its hard to place it in the corners due to width, it rolls in corners significantly, steerings is lacking feel..it doesnt drive any better than a Citroen C5, which is 30 times more comfortable and refined.
I'm not British and I don't agree with your comments.
It's called a cornering lamp, they had them on American cars in the 80s...
These have internal turning units, like a Citroen DS, from the 1950s
This car displays better build quality than a Mondeo or Insignia, get it right.
Is she in the club?
best familly car made by french you say ? what about the laguna gt estate ?!
What is the reliablity like in peogeuts ?
Good
I think that may be a feature that lights the side you are turning. but yes... reliability still sucks....
i lv your boot
Stop messing about and get a volvo. seats wont go flat? no boot space? it's an estate!! Get a D5 V70 and you'll be smiling POWER!
For some reason the French don't like having good storage space in the interior.
Only Peugeot and Citroen
That's a feature on nearly every new car.
She tells what she had been told. Has no idea, whether it's false or not.
You are wrong but that is apparently your choice so live and learn!
But they like comfort on a back sit :D
it is still strange to me that the new french cars are so germanic looking
Who cares about sluggish automatics, anyway? You were driving a manual box yet didn't compliment it the slightest.
SW (pre-facelift)
Not fair.. We didn't see the size of the glove neither saw a banana.
Very true... French cars have the best interiors... but the mechanical build quality... isn't very good. On the other hand Japanese cars have extremely cheap and plastic interiors. And German cars are somewhere in between.
Cornering feature.
look as good as a Jaguar!
Where did Rebecca put her banana?
Must be christmas :D
but she looks even much better than that peugeot, overall.
...and i don't mean your shoes
Cornering lights.
62.8 mpg lol even bicycles don't get that much in the US.
and what about quality?! I drove one and electronic handles were piece of crap!
Great review by a beautiful women xp n what a beautiful car!!
YOU, ARE, A, BABE!
The 'feet' room is terrible.
Thet're slightly getting better but the french car must be the less reliable cars on the market...
Red and Green You haven’t seen recent JD Power survey results then
The foglights on the driver's side turned on when the indicators were turned on at 1:28, another sign of peugeot reliability
It's actually a feature called curved lighting that lights the corner you are about to turn in to. As the headlights were on, we can see this feature in action. Also, the fog light only came on as the car slowed and the wheels turned. (it won't come on if it is just a basic lane change). It's a really clever feature at night time and reminiscent of the direction lighting of the Citroen DS from 1967.
including the Citroen DS5?? haha
Looks like a car that could have been made in 2005
bicycles get 62.8 miles per 10,000 pedals lol xD
no banana?
Yeaaaa
3:31 Wowwy?
lol
(Worry)
You missed out your
she said made the french company ---> peugeot.
peugeot 504 coupe, 407 coupe, rcz > 508
we liked your comment because we also wanted to marry her, not that we are okay, u marrying Rebecca. thank you!
