      Love the QR and Barry is the best man to do it! Great choice!
      I'm thinking of switching from my DD2 to a SC2 Pro and I think I'll go with your QR System in the future.
      Is SimLabs Xero-Play actually yours and you get a part of the money too? Because I always want to support the guys who did it first apart from if it is a collab then I'll go for availability anyway :)

    3:58 "Kind of a triangle coming to a point but then it's flat right here" Trapezium. The word you're looking for is trapezium, Barry!
    Solid review, as always. Is the nylon pushy-uppy-bit the only part that actually pressures the shaft, or does the bottom part of the trapezium on the wheel side clamp on as well?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think so. That nylon bit is very hard, may be something like Derlin. Adjusting that piece up or down determines the clamping pressure. And I don't see any marking on the plate it is attached to. Or, the bottom of the insert piece.

    Hi Barry,
    Is the 50.80mm wheel side configured so you can install a 3 hole steering wheel drilled where there's two holes at the top and one at the bottom? It looks like you can only install a wheel drilled where there's one hole at the top and two at the bottom. I have two 50.8mm wheels at there both drilled differently eg as described.
    Cheers!

    Very useful to choose a Gucick release system.
    But when you said that you only recommand 2 Q-R, is that means that you didn't recommand B-G system ? I use it (because it s the closer from the Accuforce native system) since 2 years and i don't have problems. But the Xero-Play seems smarter. What do you think about B-G compared to Xero-Play ?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those types of QR's have springs and bearings creating the clamping pressure. They work quite well. I am currnetly testing an NRG QR that looks exactly the same at the B-G one. Only thing is, those types of QR's eventually wear a to point that they will develop play. If they don't have it out of the box. I am of the opinion, that if I am going to invest in a QR system I want it to stay stiff as long as possible. IMO, of the QR's that I have tested to date the Q1R, and HRS systems have the best chance of achieving this.

    24:30 : The closing of the locking lever catches the paddle shifter. That's a massive flaw. You show this is on a relatively large wheel but I have a small formula wheel with the paddle shifters closer to the middle. Wouldn't fit at all I think.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a lot of free travel in the lever action before it actually starts to clamp onto the wheel side insert. So you can move it out of the way as you attach the wheel. I was using a "small" sized Ascher Racing button plate on the R20 Turn Racing rim. The shifters are very close to the center, but did not present any problems when attaching it. You can see that in the clip.

    • @davegelink
      @davegelink 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@simracinggarage3026 The wheel used in your video is large enough to have the large 70mm wheel-side adapter on and even has space to the left and right of that. I imagine my shifters would be right to the edge of that 70mm adapter. (My wheel has a 50.8mm bolt pattern). Would it still fit?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still there is a lot of free movement in the clamping lever. As it closes it moves further to the center away from any controls that my be on the wheel. There a few examples in the video. I did measure the diameter of the clamping section. It is 65mm when fullly closed. Same as the width of the Q1R clamping assembly. Of course only way to be sure would be to test it.

    • @MrMarlby
      @MrMarlby 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @jodybaldwin4864
      @jodybaldwin4864 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @apexracing741
      @apexracing741 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is more getting sent to a direct drive wheel ie suspension movement's etc in sims than irl to make up for the lack of sensations you get in the seat in a real car. This puts a lot more strain on real car quick releases and they wear out and get slop pretty quickly if you run high ffb.

      @@fetB a real quick release for a real car is very cheap to make and uses more metal. Its just aluminium put in a cnc machine then finished by blasting and anodised. I use an 8 quid one off eBay with zero play, solid as hell on a simucube direct drive. If it said NRG, D1 or Simoni racing on it, ssme exact design and amount of ball bearings as mine, 8, it would still be under 100 pound. If it said sparco, about 200 or more, no better in terms of play etc as its already zero play and sparco ones are the same ive seen reviews nothing special just a name so u pay for the name. If you can use a real quick release that will fit on a sim wheel, for less, why pay 249 for a fake one that does the same job, and you need to buy more than one half if swapping wheels. If an 8 quid one does the job who cares if it develops play after a while buy another. If AUD that makes it cheaper than 249 Us, and if made in australia it probably is more than 50 if not making many at a time your right. But if they order a thousand at a time it would probly be about 50. The type that use a bike quick release for midge motors also have zero play and ive seen those much cheaper aswell in aluminium or you can print one but printed ones break. I just think the sim racing racing market is being taken advantage of, with quick releases costing more than a damn wheel in some cases lol.

    • @fetB
      @fetB 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daverich2499 Well, i wouldnt because i diy'ed one and am set, but maybe you got lucky with yours, because i've heard it a few times that those cheap one either get or outright come with a lot of play, like this one too (btw also very typcial for fanatecs which is why they now added a rubber seal of sorts):
      th-cam.com/video/5aG8qSmhIaw/w-d-xo.html
      Granted 8 bucks is super cheap (cheapest i see is 12), but depending on the rate it's going bad, you end up spending the money anyway.
      However, that's what it comes down to. Idk how big HRS is, but i think to have read they are not and neither is this produced in mass (its not even available at the moment it seems), so it's probably not as cheap to build.
