Thank you Dr. Mona! I just got a phone call from school and they told me my son bump his head! Good lawd! i almost pass out! its nice you made this video..
Hi Doctor, hope you doing well. My daughter fell running at school on a Thursday and bumped her forehead around the eye region. When she returned home, there was light swelling but it subsided quickly. On Friday all was well, she was running and playing at a birthday party. Saturday she woke up with a fever (she has a nasal congestion issue for a week or so). She also threw up on Saturday morning and in the lift while going to get some meds. How can you tell if the throwing up is from a high fever and nasal congestion or from the fall itself? She threw up 36-40 hours after the fall) thank you.
Hello doctor my kid is 1 year and 10 months old and he was running and fell down and hit a chair and had deep cut near his eyebrows and he was bleeding and I took him to near by doctor and he put 3 stitches and told to take CT scan just to be safe and I am worried a lot.is this normal I am crying
My daughter 11 mnth old fall from the bed and she got hurt on head something soft swelling on her head what I can do for that plzz reply I'm worried is dat normal it's above ear side above part of head
I hit my babies head when he was 3months old i didn't notice a bump. He is 5months old now and i notice the goose egg should i still apply a cold compress for 10min.
A bump should resolve the days after the incident (as the inflammation goes down) so if still noting a lump this far out it's unlikely to be related to that event. Best to get it evaluated if feels/looks concerning or has been persistent hope that helps!
Hi doctor my son fell from a couch and hit his head on the tiles he is 9months old l used a towel with ice to rub his forehead but the bump it's not going away but it's a bit better than before
Hi, my 6 month old just suffered a skull fracture and minor head swelling after falling off out of her bed. I took her straight to the emergency room and she’s had a cat scan, X-rays and monitoring for 12 hours. Her doctor said she will be fine and the fracture will heal. She seems to behave normally, but she appears to be less verbal. She can still make noises and has the same motor skills, it just seems as though she isn’t babbling as much. Maybe she’s just out of it due to the injury, but she has shown a few time that she can still do it…she just doesn’t. Could it be a sign her language skills have been affected or is she just being quiet because it only happened a day ago?
Hi doctor, I have a toddler she is 1 and 11 months old and she coughs followed by vomiting some phlegms and then complaining of pain in back of the head ? She did have a head injury while playing few months back but it’s concerning as parents . What could it be ,? Does this sound serious from your professional perspective??
Hi my 7 month old baby fell down from the bed while sleeping at around 3am but he eats normal and do his activity normal..he's having fever for almost 48hours even the self care paracetamol couldn't work...please what will i do because his conditions are normal but the fever?
A head injury will not cause a fever so likely he has an unrelated illness. Check out my channel for a video on when to seek care for a fever. Hope he feels better!
My baby daughter thought it was funny to take of the nappies in the cot.. then make a kaka with excitement... we all laughed, but within the minutes I was cleaning everything up in the cot and babe (1y5m)... I quickly put a new nappy on the baby and put her back in the cot... I went quickly to put all dirty washing straight in the washing machine.. then I herd the bebe climb out of the cot, and fall on the floor banging her head which was red. I feel so guilty its unbelievable, and my wife blames me for this. I'm devastated it happened. The baby is fine, but I'm not feeling confident at all..
Why falling straight to head to a hard surface from a height with a drastic sound does not always mean that baby has injury to head or any part of the body ? How the head skulls works to protect babies from getting any brain injury ? Please explain this also so that we parents can be super sure. Please ma'am.
There are lots of factors that determine the severity/impact of a fall so you can't just go off of height of a fall or where the impact was but you have to look at their injury and symptoms as I discuss in the video. Yes the skull works to protect the brain but injury can still occur at any age so look for the red flags I mention and follow your gut- if concerned always see a clinician. Hope that helps!
My daughter just fell while playing she hit the side of her head. I did the follow the finger check to see it she was alert but 10 min later she fell asleep now I'm here watching for any signs
Hi Doctor, my 18 month old son fell in bath tub and diagnosed with subdural, ER and on call neurologist said it’s minor , will go away in few weeks , we are noticing changes in my child walking, he is little silent and less appetite; could you suggest. Are these symptoms temporary and go way as subdural heal.
It is so hard for me to say without seeing your child and the images of his/her brain. If you're noticing any changes in your child, I would contact and go see your pediatrician. Would rather double check everything with them!
My son hit his head on the floor of the pool, he complained not breathing properly right after and felt pain in the back of his head but was alert and no symptoms after 2 to 3 hours, is there any possible delayed symptoms after a month or 2?
It truly depends on the initial injury, so it's hard for me to say specifically about your son. If there is any concern, talk to your pediatrician and they may consider imaging!
My 5 month old head was bumped due to my 3 year old jumping on the bed an she has a lot of hair how would I properly check for a goose egg ? I called the doctor they said she’s okay but I’m a worrier. No other systems just a goose egg
My 1 year and 11 months old sister fell a number of times hitting the back of her head on the tiled floor. She always cried for a minute and just stopped and just played normally after that. Last sunday, she fell and hit the back of her head again, that sunday night.. the affected site became red and became swollen. Is the doctor needed? Or we just have to observe if her head injury is severe?
Is your sister okay now ? My son, who is 1 year 11 months as well, had the same thing happen to him. He fell and hit the back of his head, and his head was swollen. What should I do ?
My daughter is 1 year old and she fell from our bed… she was sitting wrongly and fell from her back and hit the tiles with the back of her head , I immediately used ice to rub the area and she cried but later was fine and she haven’t acted weird she’s been fine ever since … it’s been a week now but just yesterday I noticed a bump on the left side of head and when I pressed the area it’s a-bit soft that I don’t understand what it is but my daughter seems normal , am so terrified bcz I don’t understand what it is , am taking her to the doctor today , I pray it’s nothing to worry about…

I dont hve a change yet to go for a check up for him.. Maybe your doctor advice to you can help us please.. Though i watched some youtube video about it.. Im still worried.. Hi Dr. Mona, my 2 year-old hit his head on the wall and he cried for a minute or two after that and was acting normal after that. He had a small bruise on his forehead which later went away next day or 2. 2 days later started blinking his eyes rapidly, and few days later also started shoulder shrugging and opening mouth. Took him to his pediatrician who mentioned it could be tics and referred us to a neurologist. The tics lasted 4-5 days and has almost went away after that (been 2 weeks). We are still going to take him to the neurologist in 2 weeks, but wanted to check if it could be related to the head bump. Could the fall have exacerbated/caused the tics?
Dr. Mona, Thank you for your response. Yes, he had a stressful time at the PICU couple of months ago for RSV bronchiolitis. And the following weeks have been quite stressful with lots of changes (no more school, new nanny etc.) He still has the tics sometimes when he’s tired late in the night. To make things worse, he’s at the phase where he’s fighting sleep and not sleeping too well. So hard to go through both for me and the kiddo, but I hope this all passes soon.

Hi doctor, my 7 year old was holding my 5 month old in the kitchen chair and the 5 month old stretched out and sister fell face forward on the floor. When I got to her she cried a little but was normal for the most part. It was also bed time so she was already sleepy and she went to sleep maybe 30 mins after the fall, should I take her to be looked at?
Hi Dr. Mona. my 4 years old son fell on the tiled floor and hit the back of his head. He cried so hard but no symptoms appear within 24 hours,48 hours until 72 hours. Hi Dr. Mona last night my 3-month-old and 24days ongoing 4months old fell from the bed on a tile floor around 2:23 am by about 18inches or 1 ft or nearly half height where she fell and I was observing since last night there's no bumps in his left side forehead it just red and after a few minutes it has goes away. As long as your baby's behavior is consistent with their usual behavior (normal feeding pattern, sleep pattern, playfulness etc) I would not be alarmed. If there is a serious head injury red flag symptoms discussed in video typically present shortly after, but it's good to monitor behavior for 24 hours, if any concerns in that time good to have them evaluated by their clinician
