@@pedsdoctalktv Should you Take Child to the ER for Ear Infections if it happens in the Middle of the Night and Child is in Severe Pain???? Would Medical Insurance Cover taken Child to ER for Ear Infection????
THANK YOU DOC. Very informative and make me feel better after watching your video. My daughter 2 yr old has an ear infection, We visit ENT six times and until now she's have an fluid on her left ear.
You're such a good doctor! Recently finished med school and I got a place for pediatrics residency and I am preparing for it - and your videos are so helpful! Thank you so much! Greetings from Germany
Thank you again for the episode doc. Can u please say the relation to ear infection from allergies. My cousins told me that her son had allergies and Doctor recommended tube because he was collecting lot of fluids. Love to hear your opinion on that. God bless Doc 🙏
Does swollen lymph indicate an ear infection? I give my little girl massages behind her ears every night, and sometimes her lymph nodes are swollen, but it tends to go away after a week.
Hey doc maybe you could help me and my kids out. My kids be having ear infections a lot and every time that happens it comes with a really bad cough and a bad breath!
Hi! Thanks for this video! Ok so random question but I am wondering if you have a recommendation for a NYC based pediatrician? I heard you talk in a podcast that you used to work here and I wish you still did because you’d be my number one choice for a ped doctor for my baby coming in March 2022! Hope to hear from you! Thank you in advance
What part are you located. I highly recommend Tribeca Pediatrics. I used to work there and so many of the doctors are fantastic!! I know it's been many years, but I remember always feeling that if I had a child in NYC, I would love taking my kid there too!
Thanks a lot for this video Dr.Mona. Can my kid develop an ear infection within two weeks of completing his first course of antibiotics. He didn’t have any cold or viral infections when he got it the second time. What do you think could be the reason?
@@pedsdoctalktv yes it was for his first ear infection. Thankyou. Looks like his antibiotic is not working for him this time as he is still spiking fevers
Part of the reason I started the channel was I was also tired working clinicially in a place that overloaded patients and didn't allow me the time with my patients I needed to explain these things, so I said to myself: "Ill create an entire platform that provides insight and explanation if I cant do it in short, rushed visits"
Hello! I have a 1yr old who has an ear infection . Dr. Said ears were very red inside and prescribed antibiotic (amoxicillin) but I’ve been hesitant about starting it since my daughter doesn’t have a fever and looks ok and eating and drinking. But I’m also scared the infection might spread to the bone if I don’t give probiotic What would you suggest? Thank you
2y 9m old was diagnosed with ear infection yesterday. Has been hot but never broke a fever. We added garlic mullein oil in both ears last night. Today he has yellow discharge out of infected ear (red and liquid behind eardrum during visit) Husband thinks it’s oil draining but it’s not happening to non infected ear. What could it be? Rupture?
I don't recommend putting drops into the ears for ear infections because there's no evidence to support that they relieve symptoms and it can muddy the water if drainage is noted. If there is significant yellow drainage (it keeps coming, looks different than the drops you used, crusting is noted around his ear or drainage is noted on his pillow) I'd bring him in for eval as sometimes the ear drum can rupture and antibiotic ear drops can be helpful to speed up recovery. Best of luck! Hope he feels better!
If persistent or recurrent ear infections are affecting language development it's best to see an ENT specialist. They can do a hearing test to determine if fluid is interfering with hearing/speech and if so ear tubes are often recommended.
My 7mo baby had a bad ear infection for the third time with no fever! He’s acting normal, no fever, sleeping and feeding well… 1st and 2nd we only found out because he had a well visit scheduled. The third time he had a cold and I brought him in to check his ears just in case and he had ear infection on both sides. But he never had a fever or any other symptoms. Is that normal?
Yes some kids do have minimal or mild symptoms. In those cases sometimes the infection does clear on their own, but it can be difficult to try watchful waiting because it's harder to know if it's improved without an ear recheck (because they had minimal symptoms in the first place!) still good to see an ENT specialist about next steps. best of luck!@@jessicamattos3171
If they are uncomfortable but have no other red flag symptoms you could try an over the counter pain medication, like children’s Tylenol or Motrin if they are age-appropriate to see if you can keep them comfortable until the morning and then take them to their clinician. Otherwise if truly inconsolable or there are other concerns the ER is available. Check out my TH-cam video on 5 things to monitor in a sick child for other tips on when evaluation is needed!
We need you as my toddler's doctor! Great work!
Happy to make more videos that are helpful! Going to really put more into my youtube channel next year

It is possible. Im assuming first course of antibiotics for an ear infection? They can develop back to back illnesses and back to back ear infections!

Would Medical insurance cover Child going to ER for Ear Infections if its Severe Pain in Middle of the Night or Weekend or No Urgent Care Around????
What is covered depends on your insurance, it can vary widely
