Akid HTF no, it was an inside joke I made with some online friends on gran turismo six and the only two things I really I took from David was the idea of video game car reviews and the name smurfstang but my version of the smurfstang is a different car compared to his he's my idol he inspired me to do these things and life he wants to claim the name of "smurfstang"that's fine by me I can rename my car on fh3 so yea
Usur Delta I really liked the first cloudy thin coat that was applied with the primer still ghosting through and could have clear-coated over that and been done. reminds me of a mini truck from the mid-90s I saw
Cameron Stlaurent I don’t care, it’s my opinion. The Phoenix yellow looks the best in these and honestly that’s the truth, he has three noticeably blue cars. That’s just no fun, most of his subs were sayings not blue and he still did it. Listen to your subs
Doing painting, non automotive, for my job, I found it interesting and useful having Dante explain rolling the tape on the area being blocked off. Great content!
Honestly, watching all of this makes me have so much more respect for body shops and this side of the car scene. This part of the car scene is so underrated and definitely takes a lot of patience. Because, with body work, mess one thing up, and the entire car needs redone. Where as, the performance side, not so much.
Yooo, that guy's a real pro; taking pride in his work. You can really tell by how well he does prep, and masking; I mean; easily 80% of the work, but doing it well and consistently is the trick.
I suddenly feel the urge to own a paint & body shop. Dante is a wizard. You know someone loves what they do when they subconsciously make you love that shit too.
I love how much detail you guys are going into with these. Car looks great! Also mosquitos suck! Guy that painted my 98 Cobra did it outside on a humid summer day in the middle of the Michigan country side, with the only real prep-work being "I washed the car"... You can imagine how THAT turned out. Anything and everything that could get in the paint, mosquitoes included, was in the paint. It was still a badass car with more than the value of the car itself in mods, but that was a bummer to find out about after I gave it its first wash after buying it and REALLY looked it over for the first time.
Hey, I'm buying my first car in a month or two and this video series has been giving me a lot of ideas for my car. The wheels, the shifter, coilovers, ect. It's gonna be a 94' Eagle Talon TSi and besides the fact I wasn't a deep, brighter matte blue, most the stuff will be taking inspiration from this car. Good work, dude.
Body work is definitely a difficult craft. I decided to get a certification in it through my local community college as a backup career and it is not easy. You NEED an attention to detail. You also need a good eye for color. Made respect to the team at Street Approved Customs that helped David out.
Really nice color, can’t wait to see shots of it under the sun. Plus, that’s a great attitude from Dante, many would have just let the imperfection slip.
David, As a Honda owner who did months, almost a year of research, I don't know where you are yet with getting an exhaust, but the Apexi WS2 is almost unbeatable when it comes to catbacks for these cars. That is the sound you'll be looking for when avoiding gross sounding exhausts for hondas/acuras.
Nice prep work tips! I want to paint my own car and would definitely consider these techniques on my daily. My MR2 needs a thorough dent pulling to minimize body putty of any sort. It's nice to see a clean Integra build. This makes me miss my white one.
I like the color David! But honestly I was hoping you wouldn't do a blue color though lol! Do you feel like since your name is Thatdudeinblue that you are obligated to have all blue cars? Or do you just love blue THAT much? Either way its gonna look great I was just curious. Have a good one!
Definitely going to these guys for any body work I might need in the future. So much care put into the work. Awesome stuff 🤙🏿 also great color choice David
Accolade HQ I'm in the same boat as David, blue is one of my favorite colors on a car, never get sick of it. I've had 3 and my current car is black but it'll probably wind up being dark blue before it's all said and done 😂
Can't wait to see the final result. What's the name of this car gonna be? Also you should totally take the drift 240 to Dante's shop whenever you get back into that project.
ThatDudeInADifferentBlue
You guys are great. Have a great weekend and hope you enjoy the video!
:)
You're really good at your stuff
ThatDudeinBlue remember seeing this color on the supra you reviewed I think you did a great job not going with the grabber blue
+ThatOneCarGuy Did you just hastily copied Patterson's YT nickname...

It's nice to see some accurate paint prep content. You can tell the painter knows his stuff. Painted for 15 years myself. Kudos!
I love that you don’t cut corners for the sake of getting the build done faster for TH-cam you do everything right the first time respect
"It looks black" [looks blue] "...until you tilt it, then it looks blue" [looks black]
Haha
Its nice to see someone/youtuber show alot of the steps to a proper paint job.
wow awesome color choice! I was expecting the Type R yellow honestly. Good choice
Alex Ortiz I wish man I hate the blue
Usur Delta I really liked the first cloudy thin coat that was applied with the primer still ghosting through and could have clear-coated over that and been done.
reminds me of a mini truck from the mid-90s I saw
Alex Ortiz that or champion white
Everyone resprays their hondas Phoenix Yellow. this is different and nice.
Cameron Stlaurent I don’t care, it’s my opinion. The Phoenix yellow looks the best in these and honestly that’s the truth, he has three noticeably blue cars. That’s just no fun, most of his subs were sayings not blue and he still did it. Listen to your subs
I have absolutely been enjoying these recent post with this painting/body work crew!
Tbh I could watch this guy do body work all day long, it really shows when you have a passion for something!
As someone who works in a shop. Its always nice to see other peoples techiques and process !
Doing painting, non automotive, for my job, I found it interesting and useful having Dante explain rolling the tape on the area being blocked off. Great content!
Road work ahead! Yeah I sure hope it does

True, quality body-work is an art facilitating by exceptional skill. Looks/sounds like Dante knows his stuff!
9:42 what a ninja. Where did he learn those stealth skills?!
Paint and prepping is so satisfying to watch! getting that perfect smooth glass like finish, such an art
U picked an awesome color David and thanks for not being one of those youtubers that are gonna clickbait the color until the car is painted
David, you deserve a "SPONSOR" button!!! Love the color choice!
I suddenly feel the urge to own a paint & body shop. Dante is a wizard. You know someone loves what they do when they subconsciously make you love that shit too.
Duuuuude that baltic blue is AWESOME. I love dark blue green.
I love how much detail you guys are going into with these. Car looks great!

I've seen a lot of resto work on cars you guys have def laid some knowledge I've never heard before. Good stuff.

I really really REALLY love the color. Can't wait to see it all together.
Nice prep work tips! I want to paint my own car and would definitely consider these techniques on my daily. My MR2 needs a thorough dent pulling to minimize body putty of any sort. It's nice to see a clean Integra build. This makes me miss my white one.

I was kinda hoping for a different color than blue, but it's your car and I have no doubt it'll come out nice.
You're draggin' this out like a LinusTechTips video! Seriously though, I'm excited to see how this turns out.
I like the color David! But honestly I was hoping you wouldn't do a blue color though lol! Do you feel like since your name is Thatdudeinblue that you are obligated to have all blue cars? Or do you just love blue THAT much? Either way its gonna look great I was just curious. Have a good one!

I was hoping for that factory “blurple” color some Tegs came with, but I like your choice better.
I had never seen Baltic blue before and from your description I was expecting a bit more green, looks great nonetheless though.
