Sleep paralysis was my first thought too when I first heard this story. But then the mom hearing and collaborating the story. Idk man. You can see that he is visibly shaken recounting this memory. Whatever it was, was absolutely 100% real to 16 year old him at the very least.
It's funny hearing you comment on this videos after I watch them. I literally pause and have the same thoughts at the same times. Great content as always
I've had sleep paralysis and it literally messes you up, like OriginalHuman said. And I saw a dark, freakishly tall slender figure next to my head looking down on me, and then folding down onto the foot of my bed, like in Mr. Ballen's story. But to have the same thing happen three nights in a row, and to hear stuff on top of it all... Dunno about that. Don't know if the mom heard what he heard or if she just clinged to what he told her he heard (he mentions he told his friend's mom what happened in detail on the second night), but it's still creepy.
@@iulia.bianca.b Yeah sleep paralysis isn't a joke. I have it often with a similar shadow figure but not tall and slender, more like a well rounded shadow with a face. And usually 3 of them all around me. I remember lying there trying to scream until finally something snaps and I get free and let out a blood curdling yell and lunge forward. Scary stuff. I agree that the mom could have just been clinging to whatever info he gave her looking for relief. It's a profoundly interesting story though no matter what!
Skeptic or not, it's a terrifying experience nonetheless. After my mother died I kept waking up to a figure next to my bed but it was blurry ( I wear glasses) and I could move but I was convinced it was something. One night I fell asleep with my glasses on and was woken up by my leg being lifted and dropped. I shot up and saw my mother looking at me and smiling and then she disappeared. (She was a prankster). First I was scared but I was quickly calmed and comforted by it, I had to smile.

it's difficult to count it as sleep paralysis if it happened consecutive nights. most people will only experience few of them in a lifetime and only a small number of people gets it regularly and if it's regular it won't just suddenly stop which mr ballen doesn't have or else he would've talked about it.

Mr.Ballen said "Just picture it" aaand I pictured it. So yeah, I'm pale like Mr.Ballen. Mr.Ballen if you see this, you made a friend that night. It probably still watches you sleep. Have fun thinking about it.
I have sleep paralysis couple of time before, but it always just my body becomes heavy and can't move. Not seeing weird stuff or other paranormal experiences. I deal with it by closing my eyes, take a breath and force my body to move. Once I'm free, I drink some water and go back to sleep again..
Same. Since I know about sleep paralysis, I know that it's a matter of time before I get back to normal, and that there could be some hallucinations if I panic. I've had "sleep demons" where I could sense a presence above me with my eyes closed, but since I knew it was a sleep demon, the worst that a sleep demon has ever done is whisper "you're ugly" to me. LOL. What I do is just wait patiently with my eyes close, and wait until I can wiggle my pinky or toe, then I know I'm out of it.
I've learned how to deal with sleep paralysis after first two times because my first experience was when i was a kid and i was so terrified because i could see the room but I can't move at all. i also can't speak when i really want to call for my mom. my 2nd experience was lucky because i was facing the wall beside my bed so my mind wouldn't go hallucinating anything then after that i learned not to panic, breathe then make myself fall asleep again and it always when i make myself fall asleep on sleep paralysis, that's the time i will wake up for real.
I'd say I hover between a believer of paranormal things and a skeptic. But I 100% have had a moment like he did where an event just crosses a line and you're just done with what is happening. Unfortunately mine is in my current house and luckily only happened once but it also makes me get that like lump in my throat thinking about it.
Sleep paralysis, the fact that none of the other 2 people in the room with him after claiming all the noise it made moving around dropping pots in the kitchen.
Well, it's not exactly that when you try to remember something, you're remembering the last time you remembered it. More that, over time as you remember past events, your mind will try to fill in gaps where the event wasn't fully committed to long-term memory. Usually it gets them right, but a lot of times you'll remember things wrong, and those 'patched in' memories can sometimes become committed to long-term memory. So the next time you remember the event, it's mixed in with false memories where your mind tried to fill in gaps. This is especially true with memories formed during very stressful situations, which is why eye-witness testimony is actually a very unreliable form of evidence. That's why when police do an investigation, it's important to get any eye-witness accounts as soon as possible, before people's minds have time to try to fill in the gaps in their memory.
I get why some people are skeptics and it doesn’t help when people constantly fake videos and images then throw it out with the real stuff. But once you experience the paranormal for real then you’ll never be a skeptic again lol. I wish I experienced it from a fun haunted house tour type of thing but I didn’t, it scared my entire family and to this day almost 20 years later my family doesn’t like talking about it.
This world is a strange place, why would everything be explainable by human narrow logic and small knowledge of things. Only narrow-minded people think that everything is just like that and there cannot be things that are actually mysterious and unexplored. Sure, when I hear sounds at night, I too look for a logical explanation, and I don't see paranormal things, but my kid is different, she has her own experiences and not during the night, but during the day, and I know that she hasn't made up these stories about seeing some entities. You cannot explain everything, weird things happen sometimes.
We really shouldn’t be too surprised that there’s a spiritual world that we can’t see all around us. As human beings we have been taught to only believe what we can see. I believe in science, logic and reason. However, I also believe in the spiritual realm being real. There’s too many stories from people all over the world that have experienced things like this.
I definitely believe Mr.Ballen💯 PERCENT.I agree with you because you see in his face he's having a difficult time explaining this I myself seen something along with my sister when we were young children.I am 38 ,my sister is 3 yrs older however, til this day we remember what we saw in our kitchen at 6&8&a half
I totally understand why Ballen would never go back there, but I don't understand why that would end his friendship with Nick and pretty much Wolf. You've got Mom confirming things so they couldn't call him nuts. It's just sad that such a powerful event out of his control would cost him even his friends.
I know this is really late, but there are two more kinds of sleep/wake visions: hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations. The first happens as you're in that "almost asleep but still awake" state, and the second is when you truly think you're awake but you really aren't 100% there. I have had the second kind due to a medication I was taking. The first time, I erked "awake" and there was a little blond boy in glasses standing right next to the bed. I screamed and sat up--this thing doesn't involve paralysis. It faded away completely and I was awake in a room faintly lit by sunrise. The next two times, the same thing happened, but the boy was replaced by a white faced, rough skinned thing with hollow black eyes and a gaping black mouth--the usual demon. I was absolutely terrified and screamed liked in a horror movie. Again, once i screamed and moved, it faded out. Neither hallucination ever moved or made a sound. Neither one interacted with my room or apartment. What Mr Ballen experienced is something else.
I find it interesting that OriginalHuman feels that being in the military would equate to being honest. In my experience, the military vets I've known had a lot tall tales to tell. Now, I don't know about Mr. Ballens, but I'm just saying, don't assume that all militaries have the same ideals.
It might be the fact that he was a navy seal, I'd assume he's seen his fair share of fcked up sh*t. Mr. Ballen that is. So maybe because of that factor and him seeming so genuinely shook up about such a controversial subject, it makes it a lot more plausible.
With sleep paralysis you would need to have started off asleep. The mind wakes up, but the body doesnt yet. Since the mind paralyzes you to limit walking in your sleep and acting out your dreams and such.. you can't move. Thus the term SLEEP paralysis. In that state you can still be partially lucid dreaming as well. But... it starts with sleep. And he did not fall asleep. Coupled with his pale and clammy look, as well as visual anxiety and anxious movements of his hands, and how he draws in on himself... I believe him.
also sleep paralysis only occurs to a normal person only a few times in their lifetime or never. if it's something that will happy consecutively, that is a disorder and something should be checked with a doctor. if it's a disorder, it won't suddenly just stop after 3 nights or mr ballen would've talked about it before if he has an illness like that.
Yeah the that feeling of being frozen in fear is horrible I remember I was sleeping with my brother10 I was 5-6years old when I saw this white square on the wall still to this day I have no idea what the hell the white thing was
It is true that everytime someone thinks of something, that memory changes and possibly be completely different of what happened. Me and my friend tried to remember something That happened to us and we had two very different accounts of the same thing
So you are in the middle of nowhere with 3 teenagers and you leave the door unlocked all night? Not only that but you find the door open every morning and not a worry crosses your mind?
One time I was at my grandmas house and I was sleep in her office room and I fell off the futon I didn’t move because I started hearing the computer mouse click and move around and till this day she said nobody was up and I’m still terrified of her house
I'm a skeptic. I feel like there could be plenty of explanations (hallucinations : this was a stressful and very particular situation with the loss of Nick's father and youngster can be easily influenced by other emotions; mental bias : maybe the mother just connected her own story to his because she wanted to believe in it; memories being rearranged and changed through time and because of the trauma; also lack of sleep can seriously mess you up especially if you're in a pitch black room not doing anything, etc) But I do think he's being genuine in his story. Whatever happened, he ain't lying about it imo. He could be wrong, misinterpreting stuff, his subconscious could have replaced elements, whatever. But he believes in what he says (that or he's a very good actor)
I use to be a sceptic and I still try to make sense of things and not just jump to ghosts but Sometimes the most logical sense I can make of the situation, doesn't make sense, I feel this is true for the reason that I can't think of any logical sense for this happening
If you love MrBallen stories you probably would like to recommend you to check out That Chapter. That Chapter only telling crime stories but in an interesting style. I really want you to react to at least one of his story tellings and give us your thoughts whether you like to continue on it or not.
Dude that reminds me ALOT of sleep penalizes, you hear things, see things and, feel things, that you 100% feel are real, and those things will leave you completely petrified, I'm talking, can't move hyperventilating and completely freaked the fuck out by what ever is in the house, whether you see it or not.
I know this is an older video but I 100% believe that even if what he saw wasnt real, that John 100% believes with his whole being that they are like even if nothing was in the cabin he genuinely believes there was cause you can see just how truly anxious he is recalling this all
The pattern of these nights seem very similar, almost as if it was just a repeat of one another, which strongly hints to something relating to sleep paralysis
@@AceOfHeartz4 yeah, people only experience only few of them in a lifetime, not everyday and if it's occuring regularly, it's a disorder and it wont just stop at 3 nights.
@@farlonmuentes6004 ive had sleep paralysis once. I cant begin to imagine it 3 nights in a row and two people having it. Its fantastical. Almost more so than something being there
i had something called fever dreams or whatever its called where you see things that arent there its like sleep paralysis but it can happen anytime and you can move i remember having this really bad one about this very tall man who didnt have a face i was 8 at the time too, the layout of my old house was there was a hallway to all the rooms and the bathroom and if you went dont that hallway you would get to the living room and the kitchen. anyways heres the short stroy. i woke up in the middle of the night to drink water so i went out of bed and opened the door to my room, i remember seeing this man being probably 2 or 3 metres tall he just had his head turned towards me, until he started walking towards me my mom told me that when she saw me i was on the floor and i was crying, my mom said she had never woken up so fast in her life she stormed out of her room to see what was happening but all she found was me on the floor crying and mind you even when she hugged me i could still she the man walking towards me, until he vanished in thin air, i also remember i got to sleep in my moms bed and i had never felt so safe before in my life.
The really tall ones are said to be put there by tribes. Known as watchers, or protectors, they’re laid on the land to protect or exact revenge. Look at the average tree, twenty feet or so tall, that’s the idea. So a seven to ten foot shadow person would fall into the category of a watcher, a protector, which explains why it lent into the child who lost his father. It leaned into him when his guard was down not to attack but to gain information. The man of the house not being there would make it easier for something to come in. OR the house is on stilts, the father is disembodied, he wants his feet on the ground so he imagines himself taller and so is seen taller. But most spirits don’t carve into wood. Just like you wouldn’t carve a message into wood if you were there in person, embodied. It seems like an American version of a house spirit, a Domovoi, caring for the family of the house in the only way it can think of. As far as paranormal experiences go, this one is confusing. Poor Nick and family, though. Sending some love to them and their Dad.
None of the family or his friends talked about the pot? The open door? Did anybody close the door? Did the mom close the door and pick up the pot? Idk that detail was left out
The only thing with this is that bad spririts can take advantage of negative events, e.g death of loved ones, so they can pretend to be the loved one. Just that fact that the thing was dark, tall and massive tall hips is a bit concerning and that it wasmt the father.
I had a similar experience something hit me in the back and i saw this shadow thing and i hid under the covers and prayed (cause im Christian) and it was gone
i am a skeptic about this stuff as well but after watching all the videos on his channel the way he was flushed and everything you can tell just talking about it was bothering him because in no other video does look sound or just move like he did here i dont know what it was but all i can say is whatever it was was real enough to put the fear of god in him. Seeing also that nothing has happened since or before i have to believe him.
I feel its definitely genuine. There's no background music, no green screen. It's just a raw story.
It's 100% real to him, that's for sure. You can legitimately see how terrifying it was for him to recall.

@@jty9631 yeah, idk why that moving your toes works but it really does.
Oh now I’m REALLY interested in the shroom story lmaoooo
I can't sleep with no sounds either, it's cold asf but I still have a fan on in my room so it's not silent
I've been a fan and subscriber for a while with Mrballen. A master story teller.
I would love to hear the shroom story. Lol
This story gave me nightmares ngl when I first watch it
i got thechills so many times during this bro even teared up
I coulda swore I remembered this video and him saying that the last night his buddy Wolf was awake and heard it too, but I guess not lol
I guess the Mandela affect is taking place here
Well, it's not exactly that when you try to remember something, you're remembering the last time you remembered it.
The one thing that makes it not sleep paralysis is the fact others encountered it at the same time
I get why some people are skeptics and it doesn’t help when people constantly fake videos and images then throw it out with the real stuff. But once you experience the paranormal for real then you’ll never be a skeptic again lol. I wish I experienced it from a fun haunted house tour type of thing but I didn’t, it scared my entire family and to this day almost 20 years later my family doesn’t like talking about it.
What happened? Anything we can do so it's less of an issue if we face the same thing?
Or human minds do common things when in a place of fear and concern/stress/under psychedelics.
Both is also an option.
This story was the first video i ever watched of his i've been hooked since
I find it interesting that OriginalHuman feels that being in the military would equate to being honest.
Yes and no. If it was a fun story maybe. If it's about someone you served with who died then no.
@@batboy555 Exactly. You can tell when someone's bullshitting and when it's the real deal.
Thank you for posting this vid Luke
I’ve had my own encounter with paranormal with my friend as a witness you know it’s real when it happens to you the way it happened to me
I would love to see more of your reactions to mrballen I've never missed any of his vids
I love when I see both names "Halo Infinite Campaign Overview" and "OriginalHuman" on my screen
He didn't have sleep paralysis, frozen with fear.
Yeah the that feeling of being frozen in fear is horrible
I remember I was sleeping with my brother10 I was 5-6years old when I saw this white square on the wall still to this day I have no idea what the hell the white thing was
It is true that everytime someone thinks of something, that memory changes and possibly be completely different of what happened. Me and my friend tried to remember something That happened to us and we had two very different accounts of the same thing
When I was a child I had a very similar experience. Those things happen..
You should listen to his story about his time in the Navy Seals thats a great Military story!
I'm glad I'm watching this with you because I can't watch by myself. 😅
Yeah I use him to watch me ballen 😂
I don’t believe in ghosts but I believe in demons think about how terrifying that makes every scary story
I'm a skeptic. I feel like there could be plenty of explanations (hallucinations : this was a stressful and very particular situation with the loss of Nick's father and youngster can be easily influenced by other emotions; mental bias : maybe the mother just connected her own story to his because she wanted to believe in it; memories being rearranged and changed through time and because of the trauma; also lack of sleep can seriously mess you up especially if you're in a pitch black room not doing anything, etc)
But I do think he's being genuine in his story. Whatever happened, he ain't lying about it imo. He could be wrong, misinterpreting stuff, his subconscious could have replaced elements, whatever. But he believes in what he says (that or he's a very good actor)
Agreed
Worded it perfectly
I use to be a sceptic and I still try to make sense of things and not just jump to ghosts but Sometimes the most logical sense I can make of the situation, doesn't make sense, I feel this is true for the reason that I can't think of any logical sense for this happening
Mental trauma usually manifests in dreams. But Hallucinations are just extremely rare, especially with no mental health disorder present.
Sleep paralysis
I want to have sleep paralysis just once for one night just too see how bad and terrifying it is so I would know how bad it really is and too relate
You should react to his palmyra wolves story it’s really good
It takes place in Maine btw ;)
If you love MrBallen stories you probably would like to recommend you to check out That Chapter. That Chapter only telling crime stories but in an interesting style. I really want you to react to at least one of his story tellings and give us your thoughts whether you like to continue on it or not.
Dude that reminds me ALOT of sleep penalizes, you hear things, see things and, feel things, that you 100% feel are real, and those things will leave you completely petrified, I'm talking, can't move hyperventilating and completely freaked the fuck out by what ever is in the house, whether you see it or not.
I need the shrooms story
Please tell us the story about the shrooms !!!!!
I know this is an older video but I 100% believe that even if what he saw wasnt real, that John 100% believes with his whole being that they are like even if nothing was in the cabin he genuinely believes there was cause you can see just how truly anxious he is recalling this all
Terrifying but very enjoyable to watch, not sure how to feel about it 😂
You should fully detail your "shroom" story, and send it off to MrBallen...
The pattern of these nights seem very similar, almost as if it was just a repeat of one another, which strongly hints to something relating to sleep paralysis
Problem is the moms opinion. What are the odds of double sleep paralysis. Synced at the same time. On different floors.
I’m still considering to watch it since it’s night rn in my place
Idk that detail was left out
Would love to hear the story.
I hope i never have an experience like this cause it just sounds horrifying..
LMAO shroomies will do that to ya I would love to hear about that!
Story youre here for starts here 14:00
I find it interesting that me and my mum have experience something similar but for me it was during the day, 3 times
I'm supposed to be in class right now but that can wait 😂😂
Just subscribed mate. Look forward to watch your content
I feel bad for my man mrballen
The only thing with this is that bad spririts can take advantage of negative events, e.g death of loved ones, so they can pretend to be the loved one. Just that fact that the thing was dark, tall and massive tall hips is a bit concerning and that it wasmt the father.
I said it last time and I’ll say it again pls react to a Mandela catalog vid preferably vol 1
Keep up the cool content😀
I had a similar experience something hit me in the back and i saw this shadow thing and i hid under the covers and prayed (cause im Christian) and it was gone
It's not her husband because the ghost has longer legs. Sound logic 🤣. You skeptics are a trip.
You should react to “navy seal goes rouge in iraq “ by mr. Ballen. It’s a wholesome story
i am a skeptic about this stuff as well but after watching all the videos on his channel the way he was flushed and everything you can tell just talking about it was bothering him because in no other video does look sound or just move like he did here i dont know what it was but all i can say is whatever it was was real enough to put the fear of god in him. Seeing also that nothing has happened since or before i have to believe him.
I love New Hampshire!
