    Amazing trip guy....across the Atlantic etc. ...I motorcycled through Montenegro on my way to Athens many years ago when it was Yugoslavia. Never made it to Athens. The bike burned up just a few miles after crossing the ferry at Boka Katorska ..Bay of Kotor....ferry probably isn't there any more. Managed to get back to Emgland after hauling the bike back through the mountains to Dubrovnik then onto a ferry and got parts and repaired in Italy. No parts in communist countries. Communist countries had no motorcycles so you were a novelty celebrity everywhere you went. Back in the USA now ..for decades. But you crossing the Atlantic in that small boat. Serious challenge and admirable courage and skill. All you. Hope something big comes of this for you.

      Our first view of the church by car in '86 was a jaw-dropper. We stayed at a bed and breakfast-like setup along with the resident family. We ate meals with them, just as though we were house guests. FUN.

    Hey Sam. Been watching your videos since you left Florida. I liked watching you sail past Marco on that crappy little catamaran. that's where I sailed. You are very inspiring and we love your casual approach.
    We have a 27ft sailboat on the Yorkshire coast in England and have similar ambitions to yours.
    When do you plan to return to Florida? Or are you staying in the Adriatic for a while? Please get in touch as we'd like to buy you an actual coffee sometime.

    I've been hoping you'd make it to Kotor! I stayed in the old town portion you did a quick shot of behind the castle wall in an AirBnb carved into the site and hiked up to the top on the free side of the river. Cool place to spend a couple of days!

    With your current boat that you sailed from the USA to Britain, then to the med, i am interested in some detail. What sort of boat is it, so i can look for similar? It is 28ft. I would seek something similar, GRP hull and cabin top also in GRP. Ideally it would have a radio and a GPS type service to show you where to go, for navigating and the COrdinates of where you have left and where you are heading for. A depth sounder is a great thing to have. SA sailing regs are that you require a formal skippers license but if the boat remains listed in the states. Qualifications in the USA will satisfy. Also if the boat is left USA registered, there should be no huge import taxes.

    • @stephenkillick5812
      @stephenkillick5812 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also query where you acquired it at what cost? Are sails easily bought and not too costly? The inboard motor? Was that easy to get into running order or would you recommend a new/secondhand outbound motor as a spare.

    5:08 ...Hi ..🙄... I'm not an expert but judging after the colour of your chared engine room walls, you are using the powerplant in a state of permanent overheating. That could be a good ques why your spent oil is so black and the plastics components are looking like permanently functioning in the overheated environment. You should seriously give a thought on getting supplementary cooling or if possible enlarging the engine compartment to get some extra air circulation...Also some auxiliary gear for monitoring the cylinder head temperature, cooling water temperatures , oil pressures and temperatures , fuel pressures would be call for.. during normal operation the cylinder head should not exceed 150 ° C water temperature 95° C oil pressure 2.5 psi oil temperature 100 - 110 ° C and fuel pressure 0.6 psi. Also your alternator should keep your batteries during the charging process at 27.5 - 28 V indicated. I don't know what kind of electrical system you are using 12 or 24 V ....Your upgrade with the solar panels is a good idea but I don't see anywhere the strobe lights for warning and signaling your presence during night time...I mentioned before to you the modern LED strobes . You must have at least one strong white strobe mounted on the highest point of your mast . I would recommend also one in each side and in the front and back . With those blinking you will be visible from miles and miles . Also it could be a good safety measure to instal some kind of radar reflector at the top of your must. You could easily improvise one from ordinary aluminium foil bought from the supermarket and an old wood or plastic crate ...That way you could be sure that your small kite would be a luminous dot big enough to be noticed on every ordinary radar screen equipping the casual tramp steamer ship...🍺🍺🍺👍

    Sad to see those once thriving villages becoming vacant tourist destinations. When the birthrate is less than 2, the population shrinks, and quicker than the math suggests. All of Europe is shrinking rapidly. Much of Asia is even worse off. This is the fall of civilization, without disease, without war. I hate being right about these things. But the immigrants are keeping the population from shrinking right? Yeah, only for now. After a generation or 2, eventually the immigrants will also have negative birth rates. Sam, you need to make some babies! Heck, maybe youre leaving little Sams in every port? We can only hope so.
