I dropped a nut down the fork shaft. I taped a small magnet to a zip tie, fished it down and was able to retrieve the nut. Your use of zip ties for fishing around wiring gave me the idea.

For the 8mm inside fork bolt I have found a highly magnetic 8mm socket that highly reduces the chances of losing the bolt in the fork abyss.

I'm curious about the wire coming out of the saddlebag... do you just close the bag on the wire or did you drill a hole in the back of the bag?

The wires do not go inside the saddlebag, they run underneath the saddlebag, between the bottom of the saddlebag and the top of the muffler.
