One of us isn't comfortable with gizwheels and diodes, so I let the Shops do mine (expensive, yes). But I can see how these helpful presentations could be a big help.
I think there is a bit of difference between the show chrome isolator not being water proof vs the battery. If the battery gets wet the chance of water bridging and shorting the terminals on the battery is very slim. However, the isolator has a circuit board that could easily be shorted out with water, or corroded, or both. However, with that said I think it is pretty well protected under the seat. I have only had a motorcycle stall on me once in the rain. That was coming out of the Fraser Canyon into Hope, British Columbia. The rain was coming down so hard it just stalled the bike while driving. I pulled to the side of the road, waited five minutes and the bike started again and I was off. If I lived in Seattle, I might take some precautions adding some more water proofing to the Show Chrome.
Great video Chris and I see a few people have commented regarding the isolator not being sealed and the battery being mounted out in the open, so I won’t say any more. Thank you for your detailed and informative videos. I just picked up my new 2023 Goldwing and have been watching your videos for the past week.
Cruiseman, nice video and excellent job conveying fundamental principles used by electronics technicians. The reason you want the isolator/fuse box to be sealed is because, unlike the battery, all the circuits in the box are in very close proximity to each other, close enough that a dose of water can cause a short between circuits. The distance between battery terminals is just too far for that to happen. (my early profession in the Navy was advanced electronics) Suggest getting a wire grommet for your wago box cable opening. They are available at ace hardware and online.
Great video Chris, one thing that I have done when wiring accessories is use wire number sticks (Lowe’s or Amazon has them) and number the harnesses. I would write down the number in a log book for future reference. Great job with the HST nice and neat. Thanks for the videos
Thank you for all this. Definitely a keeper for working with any of the electricals on the bike. I know to get the show chrome box and not any of the inline connectors from all other providers.
Are you planning on doing a video on the new electrical connection isolator? It looks like their system of an isolator and sub wiring harnesses would be much simpler.
Cruiseman much respect - I can tell you know your stuff - I've done some home electric work, but for me I'm going to have to watch this video four or five more times just to catch up on what you're trying to explain. One, is the Showchrome accessory box some sort of power junction box?
It’s a rats nest under my seat because of the multiple plug and play sub harnesses for the Goldstrike and Pathfinder LED lights. It’s to the point where my seat will not fit. Sure enough you have a video about it. Thank you!!
The terminals on the battery not being sealed and the electronics inside the isolator not being sealed are two very different things. I'm not saying that the isolator is going to get wet and fail but the battery has no exposed electronics.
Your video was helpful in part. But I have the pathfinder accessory hub installed and reached out to muth mirror and they responded that they have no idea how to wire the mirrors to pathfinder. Can you please help. I’m handicapped bought the 2018 goldwing DCT site unseen while in the hospital and had Hannigan trike kit installed. Trying to add more lights for safety. Please confirm with any issues or concerns. Thanks Bill Pruneski
Where are you located and also if I bring the back to you would you be able to work on it only for accessories and the last question is how much do you charge by the hour or buy the whole thing thank you ?
I see you did not melt the solder in those butt connectors. You pretty much have to use a small torch and get them very hot before they melt. Otherwise not a a good connection. They will just pull apart. Ask me how i know. Great video thanks. Do you have any videos on installing other switches than what comes with some of these aftermarket parts? Could you also point out which wire harness does what? Thanks again
Very interesting, I don't plan on adding all the after market stuff on , but interesting to see how this stuff works. Do they make Wago connectors for 110 volt applications? They make wire nuts look old fashioned . Thanks for the great videos. Ride safe.
I also purchased that Pathfinder LED tail light kit with flasher but in your demonstration you used your ear Goldwing it showed the results of the tail lights when completed but my Goldwing is a 2009 and my brake lights reacted differently from yours.. also that path finder LED light kit came with no instructions whatsoever for the dealer to put these lights in this is some of the info you need to give us before we start purchasing these items that you suggest and should also show the different brake light reactions from different year Goldwings other than 2018 and up. Because you did not tell us that in your video that the brake light on different year Goldwings might be a different reaction in the tail lights four different year gold wings from 2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2017 or 18...
2021 Honda goldwing having trouble with trailer light hookups. Not enough power going to trailer any suggestions? Honda dealer do not know what to do. They just say it's only the 2021 having this problem
By changing wire colors and putting heat shrink over the connections you make tracing wires impossible in the event of problems. Unless you make and keep a good wiring diagram...
My bike will not start with the normal starter button, checked battery is fine, could the startup sequence be disabled due to there being a fault how does one review any existing fault codes
Wow, that's quite a job. Can i just drop my bike off at your place. Or maybe I'll just forward your video to my dealer. I think this may be beyond my skill level.
Who ever wired Don Smiths GW originally needs to stay away from any kind of vehicle wiring. Wire nuts and scotch locks do not belong anywhere that the outside elements can get to. Soldered connections and heat shrink are a must...

Excellent video and great explanation. I have saved the video to use it next year when I remove parts of the bike and add other accessories.
Very helpful! This kind of 'free' video would convince me to buy your maintenance videos if I did not already buy them.
There is no law against buying them again! 😀
Very good video and excellent explanation. Thanks for sharing.
Chris EXCELLENT video!! Great stuff!
Thanks so much really professional explanation

Great job Chris, I've been looking into putting in a fuse block, but this just might do the trick.
I’m going to tackle some wiring in my 2010 wing on his spring. This gives me some me great guidelines.
Fantastic job Cruiseman and I will attempt duplicating it on my mods during the winter months, really enjoyed it and keep them coming
Great video!
Do you have a video showing all of your add on’s to your bike?
Fantastic video Chris. Extremely helpful in planning/organizing the wiring on all the lights for my new 2021 DCT Tour Airbag bike
Nicely done.

Well.hello my friend truly like your installation videos but differently dislike all the commercial breaks that are in them
Very very helpful. Saved me a load of time. Thanks.
Glad it helped
Chris Top Notch explanation! Thanks
Good video. What's the best way to determine the color coding of various accessories, for example what is the right turn color from Gold Strike?
I was wondering the same thing. Are the electrical schematics published online somewhere?

Good video Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the heads up. It would be up to them if they want me to do a video of their product.
@@cruisemansgarage hopefully they will.
Who makes this new electrical connector isolator. Can you provide a link?
@@NeilLauinger is made by the company electrical connection. You can Google their website.
It looks great, good job :)
Thanks, great conversation on technology wiring

I believe Wago does make 110/220 connectors. Check Amazon.
@@cruisemansgarage This was the only way I can ask this question. Are you going to test out the New Parking Brake interlock harness for the DCT
@@jerr515 I would be happy to. But, the manufacturer would have to reach out to me for testing and review.

What do you do when adding new mods and have new wires that need to be added to the bundles you made? Do you just cut them apart and redo it?
can toggle switches be used for turn signals instead of can bus trigger buttons?
