As someone who joined the military in their late twenties, your last two points were something that I was very happy to have as a standard. So many times as a manager I’ve had staff who absolutely stank and I couldn’t really say anything because I’d have an HR nightmare. Or I’d have someone who was always one minute late to work and it just wasn’t worth the hassle of pursuing. Now in the military it’s so nice just to be able to stay these things. Not in a sense that I want to get people into trouble, but just to say to them, “you absolutely pong, I don’t want to be smelling that tomorrow.” Or if someone is one minute late I can tell them that’s not acceptable without them being like, “but I’ve not missed anything.”
I was in the US Marines. One the absolute worst things was to be late for work or formation. I became so trained to be on time, I still am to this day. And boot camp was in 1971. My Ex wife was in the Coast Guard and they were rather laisse-faire about being on time to things. Her running late drove me crazy. All three of my kids are trained to be on time to things.
@@MilitaryFitness nervous, just need to improve my beep test score got 6.2 on my 2nd try, having a rest day today and going to do it tomorrow, need 6.6 to get the job role I want, looking forward to the live stream tomorrow 🤙
It would depend on your job and if you have Developed Vetting. If you have vetting then there are quite a few countries off limits. Once you have left service you will be ok
It sounds like things have changed a lot since I was in the army (1960s - 1979s). In those days the two biggest peace-time "crimes" were drug use and being gay. If you were caught using recreational drugs it would result in a two-year visit to Colchester military prison followed by a dishonourable discharge. If you were gay and got "caught in the act" you would be immediately posted to somewhere far, far away.
Morning sam, you reminded me to send you a message this morning so you could ask about the assessment centre for me as my pirbright had be cancelled and I was told it was due to changes being made so just wanted some more info thanks again ! And can you upload the q & a you did yesterday was really helpful!
@@MilitaryFitness Okay thanks for trying anyway ! I got a call today from someone in the army apologised for the delays and the fact no one had been in contact. They said they are trying to now get me booked in ASAP so in the next few weeks and they also suggested I go for technical operator. I was already applying for operator intelligence and household cavalry as a backup but could you give a bit of an insight into technical intelligence. Thanks again !
@@JP-xq2bn operator military intelligence is the Int Corps, some of my best mates are in the Int Corps so that will be a good job. What cap badge was tech operator in?
I never really thought about the travel. I can't find anything online about restricted countries, i'm guessing places like America, France, Sweden etc. are fine but disappearing off to the middle east or Russia are going to raise some eyebrows lol!
There once was a squaddie called Jack; Whose pong made his whole squadron yack; They said, "please Christ go for a wash", But he didn't give a tosh, And now he's being hosed down in Colly! 😂
I have a question. Does the army still frown upon France for aiding uniforms to America in America’s quest and eventuall win for American independence from the tyranny of Great Britain?
Years ago, I had to report a civvy work colleague for being a dirty, smelly individual. I felt ashamed about going to my immediate boss to do this, like a school snitch. But I told him that due to my previous background: Army for 12 years, and before that I had been a Punk for 9 years, I did not know how to be diplomatic about telling someone to get a bath.

Haha I know
travel one was quite suprising but i understand it completely. got my basic in about 2 weeks im excited but nervous :)
All the best for basic training buddy. Being nervous isn’t a bad thing, just means you really want it and will perform well because of it.
