Doc, I don't know exactly what your life is like. I understand you work at a hospital and see patients with heart problems. I also understand you do seminars, etc. but it seems to me, you are missing part of your calling! I've listened to many of your videos and think you're a great speaker and teacher. You are a "people person", so down to earth and human and a walking library of information! You deserve better than TH-cam. You're also pretty wonderful for voluntarily doing it. We, especially people with more serious illnesses, are very lucky!

I have ALL the symptoms you mentioned but every time I tell a doctor that I think it’s hypothyroidism they blow me off and say, NO it can’t be because all your thyroid hormones are normal. It’s easier for them to say I’m fat, tired, depressed and have high blood pressure because I’m overeating even though I told them that I only eat once a day and that’s dinner. They’ve basically call me a liar by saying things like calories in calories out. They want to put me on blood pressure medication but I refuse because I know what I eat and I refuse to let them put a bandaid on the problem and make me more sick by putting me on a lot of unnecessary medication if they would just listen to me and perform other tests or try giving me thyroid medication to see if it helps.
I even told them that I took my temperature in the morning under my arm before I get up and it’s anywhere from 93.6 to 96.9, which only proves that I have hypothyroidism. They just ignore me; so now I refuse to let them weigh me because if they don’t care what’s causing my weight gain and other hypothyroidism symptoms I’m not going to let them criticize my weight gain and let them continue shaming me because that only makes me more depressed.
I can hardly walk anymore because I get so out of breath just walking 50’ or going up 10 steps!
    I feel like I’m dying!!!😢
I’m not saying this about ALL doctors but when did medicine become all about the all mighty dollar?
Most doctors don’t work for the patients anymore they work for the insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies!
It’s rare to find a good doctor that will put their patients FIRST and do what’s best for them and their health and do everything within their power and abilities to get them well again.
Sorry but that’s the truth because I’ve seen it first hand when I was in the medical field and of course as a patient. It literally makes me sick what’s happened to medicine!

Look into getting Spectracell blood analysis. I had it done and it was very revealing. It took the guesswork out of it. I paid $400.00 for the works and it was worth every penny. I have the MTHFR mutated gene that alot of people have and don't know it. I take megadoses of methylated B12 and feel better. You may be low on minerals since our soil is depleted and you only eat once a day. Do you take a GOOD multivitamin? Nascent iodine helps too. Why can't you walk? Is it the weight issue or do you have arthritis? Please don't lose hope.

I am guessing but have they checked your blood glucose and checked you for asthma. One meal a day is not good. Low carb (not Keto) eating several times a day can stabilize blood sugar levels. Take a good probiotic and fiber. Start walking even if it’s five minutes a day. Please don’t give up. There is hope. Took me over 5 years to figure it all out.

The calories in/calories out is BS, especially for Hypothyroid patients. I barely ate because I was not hungry and still couldn’t get back to my size 2/4 frame, it was a nightmare in every way, mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. You go from this attractive, vibrant, healthy person, to a puffy faced and bloated mess.. the brain changes. Hell, basically. The only thing that worked for me was carnivore and T3 hormone.. I didn’t have hair loss, I still had my thick long hair, but many aren’t so lucky.. the hair loss eventually comes if hypo progresses without treatment. The walking and down stairs was so scary, so I understand what you are saying.. horrific. I hope you find/found the treatment that you need to feel well.

Matt, Keto diet is good advice. Also some people can not convert the T4 to T3, so even though you take Thyroxin it might not be working for you. Look up "Stop The Thyroid Madness" for more information.

    • @bonniecandace
      @bonniecandace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Vasanthi No don't stop thyroid medication, "Stop the Thyroid Madness" is a book that explains that the medical "standard of care" for hypothyroidism is not working. Levothyroxine is T4 only and the body needs T3. If your body cannot convert T4 to T3 you are effectively without Thyroid hormone. If you are a person who cannot convert, you need to add T3 to the T4 or take Natural Desiccated Thyroid.

Thank you for this crucially informative video, Dr Gupta! Symptoms of Hypothyroidism, can sometimes be so vague that, as you point out, it can be difficult to diagnose. I found my own hypothyroidism some years ago by reading voraciously about my own symptoms ( tiredness, hair loss and brittle nails and higher than desirable TSH readings, but had to nag my original PCP about it. Levothyroxin ( Synthroid) for a year did NOTHING for me as I was not “ converting” T4 to T3 so I asked for Armour and that worked for awhile until they changed the formula. My current ( excellent and younger) PCP has me on a gm. of Naturethroid per day and that it working just fine! Thank you for broadening our knowledge of so many areas we would otherwise be uninformed of, and thus less healthy than we have the potential to be!

Dr. Gupta thank you so much for this video. It clarified a lot about Hypothyroid, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides. I had a endocrinologist tell me that these things had nothing to do with my thyroid condition. I didn’t appear to have any of these problems until my thyroid went crazy. (I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis so my condition appears to be a result of that) Your advice is very empowering. It is time to find another endo and have them check my meds because these things re not abating despite rigorous lifestyle changes. Thank you for all that you do. I'm a health professional in the industry for nearly 30 years and have studied functional medicine for the last decade. Why do women have hypothyroidism more than men? Because of estrogen in the majority of cases! Estrogen BLOCKS the uptake of iodide to the thyroid and without adequate iodide women will not only suffer with hypothyroidism, they will also suffer from uterine fibroids, cysts, polyps/endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, and so on. One thing leads to another and eventually you could end up with cancer. The fix? Iodine/Iodide! Much more to this, but will stop here since this comment is getting lengthy.

I got adult onset type one diabetes at age 55 from too much sugar and had a TSH thyroid test which was normal , but after listening to Dr. Richard Bernstein’s Tele seminars, I learned that most of his diabetic patients have hypothyroidism and I had the symptoms. It took me a while to convince my practitioner that I needed a free T3 & free T4 thyroid test which is quite different from the TSH test. I was 15 points below low normal! I am now on generic Synthroid medication and I am beginning to feel much better. I do believe you concur with Dr. Richard Bernstein. He invented the basal bolus method of insulin and distributed the first diabetic meters. I love the man. My diabetic numbers are under control for the first time in 13 years. I do believe the ADA was bought off. Most everything they say is wrong including most meters. Thank you for explaining this in further detail. I eat 0 cholesterol and live on a very resistive diet and the doctors don’t pay attention to my thyroid. Thank you for this very informative video… now I know the why and will look for a doctor to fix it!

Very spot-on video. I’ve had Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism since I was 13 (I’m now nearly 51). Even though I’m thin, I’m still starting to experience this rise in blood pressure. And the extra beats. My hypothyroidism is, and has been treated daily since I was diagnosed. And I’m religious with my medication on an empty stomach. Ive also just been taken off my hormone pills due to turning 51, and I’m scared things will worsen due to this. I’ve also had high total cholesterol, although my LDL to HDL ratio is VERY good, I’m told. Very tricky disease, indeed.

Just back from hospital with high blood pressure. Apparently my heart and arteries are fine. In fact because they can find no fault on ECG, ultrasound or bloods, they suspect the one thing that's off. TSH is 11. I told them it's been much higher in the past 12 years and I never had tight chest nor high BP that I was aware of until the past week. I am known to skip medication if I think it's too near a coffee or a meal and always wanted to heal my thyroid, suspecting it's full of oxalates from a plant based diet. Anyway, today's scare and your information will have me taking my meds more keenly. In 12 years no endocrinologist could be bothered to explain to me the risks I might be at. Stroke was mentioned years ago but with zero explanation. Thanks.

I asked my doctor for a EKG because I was concerned about my heart I took it and it came out abnormal the results said I have inferior infarct undetermined age. I see a cardiologist for the first time in about 4 weeks I'm crossing my fingers everything will check out. I think I got high cholesterol when I became hypothyroid. I have high blood pressure but I'm taking a little dose of 50 mg of metropolol my blood pressure is usually 120/70 anyhow I keep you informed and everyone else I subscribed to the channel thank you so much. I did lots of research and learned that the medication doesn't heal the condition, but could bring on other health problems. (I didn't have time for that mad science treatment:() So I worked with a Chiropractor and my body restored itself, bringing my levels back to normal. I'm considering taking Magnesium Taurate for my hypertension because of the side effects from Amlodopine 5mgs, reducing it to 2.5mgs, which I struggle with. My GP has suggested I take Ramopril 2.5mgs but this also has side effects.
I have taken Magnesium Citrate for cramps, and it also helps me relax, and sleep better. My body tolerates it well.

I can't believe how informative you are. I've noticed my blood pressure is 130/100 and it's terrified me. I had 150/115 yesterday. I had mild hypothyroidism 3 years ago and now I'm terrified to think about how bad it might be getting now. I also have a racing heart (im on metoprolol) which I'm worried will be worsened by levothyroxine to treat the hypothyroidism. The doctor probably didn't treat me with levothyroxine for this reason. My diastolic pressure being elevated is probably due to my mild hypothyroidism or maybe not but interesting to finally have a potential cause.

Here's one for you....I was having SEVERE pain burning and tingling in my hands for almost 2 years, nerve pain, I'm prep diabetic A doctor wanted to prescribe pharmaceutical's for this really painful neuropathy, I said NO pharmaceutical's. I went on line and I learned that Turmeric and Curry in together in capsule form will feed the nerve endings....I made a beeline to go buy this . IN LESS THAN 2 Days that severe neuropathy pain was GONE. G.O.N.E. GONE. But doctors just want to write scripts for pharmaceutical's drugs w/ endless side effects. That Turmeric and Curcumin is ONE HELL OF A LIFE SAVER. I take one capsule a day and I'M PAIN FREE from that REALLY PAINFUL NEUROPATHY PAIN !!!!!!! Mainstream doctors don't seem to have a clue. Thank God for the internet. THIS CHANNEL is very informative, I saved it . Thank you for this video. I'm SO happy my neuropathy pain is gone I could do cartwheels. Thank you, this is everything I didn’t realize I didn’t know. But everything that I’m experiencing, I’m going through heart testing for a murmur right now. I was hashimoto’s diagnosed decades ago and stopped medication because I seemed better. Not realizing that feeling better and not medication hurts your organs and hormones quietly. It took years to get back in medication it’s drs who said my numbers were fine and I didn’t have thyroid disease. After a specialist diagnosed hashimoto’s again I’m being monitored and medicated, but the dosage is so low it laughabl. But yes, swelling, exhaustion, bowel issues, skin lesions, mouth and nose sores, joint swelling and pain, daily headaches and dizziness, now a heart murmur.
A lot seems to be tied in with thyroid issues and there’s not much anyone knows to do to address and correct that.

I echo others who lament the lack of education/information from their physicians. When I was diagnosed hypothyroid, this is what I was told: "Yes, you are menopausal, but what's more, you are hypothyroid, I called in a prescription." That's it.
I developed PVCs (that I noticed) about the same time I started the thyroid medication. I assumed it was the medication, but maybe it wasn't?
My PVCs have at times been pretty gnarly.
I now have severe osteoporosis. (I'm 62. Osteoporosis was also not on my care provider's radar, but maybe that can be forgiven because I AM young to have bones THIS bad.) Thinking about all of this because I'm supposed to start a medication that has a black box warning for cardiac events. I'm not particularly worried about the medication causing a heart attack, but...one does wonder especially when one then googles "osteoporosis and PVCs" and read, "The lower your bone density, the higher your risk for cardiovascular disease." If true, just one more thing I never heard from an in person doctor.
