I can remember, sitting on a little wooden stool, tucked in between my mothers legs as she sat in her soft chair at the fireplace….. she put the knitting needles into my hands and guided my fingers , sort of under hers, knitting socks!!! On 4 needles….. that’s how and where I learned to knit. By the age of 7 I could knit a complete pair of socks for daddy:) AND TURN THE HEEL. Young children used to be shown how to do many things. Sometimes they had to do it to get money in for the family but I was lucky , I did it because I LOVED it and ❤️❤️my parents. I taught all 3 of my children to knit but they’ve not taken to it at all. One of them used to knit beautifully but doesn’t have time for it nowadays.

So enjoyed this episode. Loved the combination of the Giselle shawl with the little mauve tee you were wearing. The color looks so lovely and cozy with your complexion and hair color. Thank you so much for always giving so much detail about your knitting projects. Your explanations are so much like I’m sitting down with a friend who describes knitted projects so as to be so helpful. Thank you. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah

I thought it was interesting that I’ve had the Mondo Cable Cardigan in my favourites and library for eons… i never did make it but it is still a great looking design. Happy and safe travels to the Festival. Speedy toe recovery ❤️‍🩹 as well!

To me it is always fitting to pay respect to passings and births in a knitting podcast. We prepare for new family members with knits and pass knitting knowledge and tools from generation to generation. The Tulip looks like a vest. I would wear a pretty top underneath of the sweater.

Thanks for sharing your beauties with us: the FOs, the vest patterns, and the yarn! The toe story!! That is my youngest son (well both sons actually). I have loved Noro yarns ever since I first saw it in the yarn shops here in Australia. It is still my favourite! You might try putting your top in the dryer when it's mostly dry Selma. I have done this in the past with cotton knits and continued to do it to one particular garment every time I washed it. If that doesn't work, you could always steek the sides and then you wouldn't have that funny shape at the armhole when you stitched it up. Your shawl is just gorgeous....I love knitting lace and this is very inspiring! Beautiful colours as well!

    • @littlebigknits

Hi Selma, what a lovely and refreshing episode, I thoroughly enjoyed all and the open and end song is sooo peaceful. Thank you for a great wind down to the night! Thanks for the mention of the Camijoknit mohair I was looking for a particular color which I was able to find yeah. Your Giselle is ablosutely GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS, great job. Also your a fairy Bouquet turned out STUNNUNGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! My thought is to do this pattern in some Holst Supersoft held with their Titicaca alpaca. Thanks as always for your enthusiasm in showing your finished projects because it helps me to appreciate how you experienced the pattern, etc. great tips for your watchers to learn from. Okay I am going on and on so let me wrap up here lol. Take care.

PEI fiber festival was cancelled because FIONA hit the Island very badly 82,500 people over 86,000 lost electricity, might not get it back for at least 72 hours. Please send them all your best thoughts. Help the vendors if you can by sending positive messages or buying their products. I hope all the East coast people affected recover really fast.

Thank you for a lovely selection of vests. I was intrigued to see your Koyame, because I too am knitting it out of Nutiden and also for the first time using that yarn. Cables are not the best choice for a first-time Nutiden knitter but I am nevertheless doing quite well and on the sleeves now. Thank you for acknowledging the death of both the Queen and the founder of Noro yarns.

So much to comment on! I'm also sad that Farm To Cable is closing. I'm expecting my order of Hillesvag Tinde to arrive today. With it I will knit the Sian sweater. I only have a couple of vests so far...one is not really a vest. I knit a DK version of the Ranunculus with Rose Hill yarn. Mine just has a cap sleeve, so I think it works well as a vest, along with wearing it on it's own in the warmer weather. The sleeve flared a bit, so I corrected it with a row of single crochet to cinch it in a bit. For the Unspun Heroes....I've ordered Nutiden this past week. I'd love to knit a version of the Nostalgic Sweater Coat...probably mid-thigh length as opposed to the full-length. Thank you for the vest recommendations, I've put a few in my favourites. I can't seem to tag my favourites, but I'll try on the laptop later today...I'd love to be able to do this on the library section of Ravelry

After driving almost two thousand kilometres to the PEI Fibre Festival, my sister and I had turn right around to get off the island before hurricane Fiona hit. Love your Fairy Bouquet! So stunning! I immediately wanted to knit it when you first started but didn't have enough of two possible colorways in my stash... I bought more of the one color that I had more of... but then still wasn't happy and really want to do it in the other color that I have...but need to buy more of that! Anyway... stash problems. I'm swatching for a sweater with the King Cole sequin yarn as I watch your podcast! Have you read Trevor Noah's book "Born a Crime"? So funny and heartbreaking and a very quick read. Love your vest suggestions! I'm inspired to use some of my worsted stash for one. I've been wondering what to do with 800-1000 yards of leftovers; I think a vest is doable.

Selma your Gisele shawl is absolutely beautiful! I love the colors you chose, and it just looks perfect on you. As always, I enjoyed this podcast episode, and wish I knew you in real life. I'm off now to take a closer look at the vest patterns you showed. Thanks for sharing them. P.S. Tell Yoda kitty hello from me. 🙂

Good to hear from You again, Selma! I have ordered yarn from CamijoKnits also. Lovely lovely yarns! Ships quikly to Finland too, so that's nice. I have now made four Westboro hats for christmas presents, holding a fingerin yarn with mohair, and they are so lovely soft and squishy. Usually I knit socks but now I'm obsessed with Your hat pattern, thanks so much for it! Hope You have fun in all those wonderful YarnFestivals! Looking forward to seeing You soon! -Tiina-

I love your beautiful sweater. I have broken ties before! I now have arthritis, ouch. Lol
