This is a good personal statement but extremely unrealistic, he was always gonna get into Oxbridge regardless of what his personal statement says. He had the connections and was clearly wealthy enough to be engaged in niche sports and encouraged by his parents from a young age. Can you make something that reflects regular people, and an achievable standard because this is great but completely unrealistic.
PRIME makes it compulsory for law firms to give opportunities to children from poor families. It is not one's fault that they have properly engaged with all available opportunities, even if they were rich, because there are many options on either side. An individual should not consider Cambridge if they are unable to conduct their research to find opportunities because the degree would be equally useless if such an individual lacks such basic skill.
Nobody actually speaks like their personal statement-they are usually borrowed ideas from other people. From what I've gathered, you just need to use things that you've done to show why you are a better candidate than the rest for studying the subject-having more things to talk about in depth is better of course-and then you back it up with a powerful introduction and conclusion. You would write it pretty much in your own words, then go back through it using more advanced and obscure words to stand out and show your understanding of the subject. If your personal statement was regular, you would likely not get in.

Don’t know if you will see this but I recently finished my personal statement but had no work experience due to COVID. Therefore, I focused more on the academia and spent a large section creating links between my extracurricular and inter curricular activities. Is this ok.
Idk if you will ever read this but can you please do a video on how to obtain determination or drive to achieve your goal?I feel that I don't value those straight A's as much as I should. This makes me feel hesistant to work hard.I also feel comfortable with my current grades(below average) bc of this but i know i shouldn't.I just dont know how to stop get out of my comfort zone. I have about 2 months left before my trials and I really need advices 😭.
But what to do if one has already lagged behind quite a lot and still has a ton of the lecture notes as screenshots? Like I have my lecture notes as screenshots and I’m yet to complete the lectures I missed at the first few classes if the semester and in a process of noting down all of it, I realized I actually don’t know and remember much of the topics and am yet to go through those chapters in the book. Solving practice problems are a far away thought at this point. What to do?
This was extremely helpful, though this is unrealistic to someone of low socioeconomic status coupled with the challenges of covid.

i agree.
This is superrrrrr 🔥
As a non-English speaker, it's quite hard to elaborate the words as fascinating as this 😓
Nice editing! This channel is going to blow up one day!
I appreciate that!
This is just insane 😂 no regular student can possibly do all this. Another PS from a more regular law student would be great.

Could you talk about your Downing college experience/ the med interview? Also what do interviewers really look for?

Do interviewers quiz you on stuff on your personal statement? (like St John's for example?) or is it simply overlooked?
Really varies by college. But generally they don’t really quiz you but you gotta be ready for it ygm
A random question : have you ever grown a beard?
Lolll yeah not a great one
I was quizzed by Downing on this personal statement. The opening section got me battered.
Also what was your BMAT score?
Please is this for masters degree?

@@DoctorShaene in year 11 I did a Cambridge critical thinking paper and I dont think I did too well. Would this affect me applying later on?
Wouldn’t think so!
Perhaps Calam simply just ran out of characters hence the abrupt ending 🤓
