It’s so interesting hearing what other people’s are like... I have an offer from Oxford, and interestingly mine had a really similar structure (although to start with I was told mine was too academic) despite being for chemistry rather than law, and as a domestic student
Elena, you are my inspiration!!! I really liked about the part where you were confidently chose to stick to your mind about personal statement, not the others! --From a Chinese IB DP1 student keen to study sociology in the UK next year!
Hi Elena, this video couldn't have arrived at a better time! I'm now in the process of creating my first draft, and it was really reassuring to hear that you don't have to sound super intellectual :)
Thank you for your sharing!! 🙏🏻 Though this video was posted 1 year ago, I still found the tips useful as an international student who wanna apply to the UK unis 😭🤍
Shaunak Samant if you need any advice I’d love to help! I start at Oxford this autumn and I know just how hard it’s been for next years applicants to get the help they need from their schools, or even just getting decent feedback. If you need advice or feedback my email is lochlandpoppy@gmail.com. Best of luck with your application!
Does it matter whether you play musical instruments or not? I digging says no, but a friend told me it would matter of UCAS...I play two, so would I still be OK after dropping one? help a fellow human being out!🙃
Nice video! One quick question- I did not choose history as a GCSE option. Instead, I have chosen Geography, Art ( where lots of research + writing is required surprisingly and therefore provides me with transferrable skills) ,business studies and have to do Religious studies and English language/ literature as compulsory subjects along with several others. Does not choosing history diminish my chances for Cambridge? Are there any extra activities I have to undertake to secure a place at Cambridge? Sorry the question turned out to be a long one :/
So you're a law student, right? Anyways thank you for the reply. I was expecting someone would only send a 10 word reply and not also their email :), so thank you for taking your time to help !
Arko Mukherjee no I’m a biology student but I know that Oxbridge do not pick apart exactly which GCSEs you do. They will glance over your gcse grades just to check you have a good track record but they don’t mind which exact ones you do, they care much more about which a levels you do. And while I don’t do law, I do know what the application process is like for Oxbridge and can give objective feedback for your personal statement as someone who has never met you before, just like whoever is reading it when you apply, so I can tell you what my impressions are, and answer any Oxbridge specific questions I can xx

by extra activities I mean things like Open day/ a pre-Uni course I don't know about, etc? Thanks for the time stamps also- really helpful !
Arko Mukherjee not having a history gcse does absolutely not affect your application. I didn’t do history either and got into oxford.
Arko Mukherjee if you need any extra advice from someone with experience of applying to Oxbridge my email is lochlandpoppy@gmail.com
