- Hello friends! In this video I will be comparing the new Too Faced Born This Way 24hr matte foundation with one of my all time favorites, Estee Lauder Double Wear. In my humble opinion, ELDW is the gold standard when it comes to matte, long wearing foundations, especially for oily skin.
To compare the two I did an all day wear test with the Too Faced on one side and the EL on the other. Which one was better????

**I don't know why the reviews are so bad on Sephora for this primer. I really like it. I never tried the old formula though, and the people who did seem to be the ones leaving the negative reviews.

Personally i think the double wear looked better. The other one was very luminous looking. But maybe in person it’s different than on camera.
Double Wear is my holy grail, especially in hot Florida weather.
With your oily skin, I feel the double wear looks flawless on you. Just flawless! The twofaced looks good as well, just not quite as good, if that makes sense. 🌸🌼🌺

Well, I'm impressed with this foundation. Even though I am 65, since I live in a hot climate, I have oilier skin, so this was very interesting to me. I don't quite love the EL one on me. I almost do, but not quite, so this TF one is tempting me. I sure enjoyed this! Take care, Risa. xox, Melissa

Estee Lauder owns too faced
Think I’ll stick with Double Wear. I’ve been wearing it since it was new on the market, and I believe it was only $28! Oh my! But I do love it. It is the only foundation i‘ve ever used that does not oxidize and turn orange on my skin.
Love me some DW! I also remember it being just under $30....and having to pay extra for a pump...not doing that either.
Agreed on that its doesn't oxidise
At 70 and having normal skin with a couple of dry patches, I am loving the new Too Faced foundation. I use Tatcha Water Cream and Tatcha liquid Silk Canvas under it. Perfect fur me! Love the coverage, the light feel and the not overly matte appearance. Another huge plus is how great it looks after wearing a mask! I did have to mix the Ntl Beige (darker than most Lt to medium shades) and Lt Beige (too Lt for summer) to get my perfect shade. Great review!! So happy that both you and Stephanie seem to like the new Born This Way Matte. 💕

Thanks to you, I leave my morphe setting spray in the car and spray my masks before wearing. It helps so much to stop the transfer!

I’m 47 and I’ve been extremely oily all my life. Double wear controls my shine for one hour at most, after that my face is a disco ball. I’ve given up in finding a way to keep my face matte for at least two hours so what I’m more interested about a foundation is the finish because I usually need to blot each 45 minutes to an hour. I like the finish of the original born this way so I may try this new version just for that. Double wear ages me a lot and it breaks awfully on me. The original Born this way disappears more gracefully.

I used to be very oily, but medication for hair loss and probably just being postmenopausal has dried me out to combo to dry, but I still watch your channels. I love too faced matte foundation. I am going through my change and hot flashes are horrible, but my make stays out. It is amazing.

You can take comfort, Risa, that your oily skin in your 60's, or maybe not 'til your 70's, will reward you with far less wrinkles than your contemporaries. 😊

Thanks for this comparison. ELDW has been the best foundation for my super oily skin, but I still get very shiny at 2 hours, even with any combination of primers/setting products. I’ll keep hoping for a mattifying foundation for us exceptionally super oily ladies.
This is is helpful thanks! I have combo skin and I find double wear tends to go into my fine lines and pores throughout the day. I like that the too faced has a little more glow.

Thanks so much for the foundation trick! I had seen Wayne Goss do it as well. Never tried it. Yesterday I did it with foundation. And today I did it with cc cream. I have dehydrated skin and OMG it works wonders!!! Doesn’t make my face more cakey! My masks are foundation free👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I think the only foundation that MAY drag me away from my DW is the new EL Hydra Rescue for this winter as I dry out from the indoor heat and cold air outside, but EL is MONTHS late for release in Canada. I keep contacting them and they keep moving the release date a month here or another few weeks there, since March. So who know sif the new Hydra rescue will ever come to Canada. has anyone heard anything?

I generally have to use 3-4 pumps of the double wear. I am going to purchase the too faced but in the colour fair Nude, I have dry skin so I am hoping that too faced 24hr will be mat on me. btw Love your videos. :)

I bought Double Wear for the first time a last week, and I don't find it to be very matte for me--I also use tons of hydrating under my foundation. I was really intimidated by DW because of the full-coverage and matte claims, but I find it sheers down really beautifully and once it warms up to my skin it is really quite natural finish on me. It's always interesting how different people and their own techniques can change how products work.
Does it break you out with regular use ???

You got me thinking about finally trying the Estee Lauder as a summertime foundation for my oily combination skin! And the too faced looks like the perfect winter time foundation for my skin type, especially living in New Jersey with the bitter cold winters and hot humid summers. Great review!

Have you tried the Lorac soft focus longwear foundation? I just got it and I’m putting it on as we speak and it looks gorgeous! Like double wear but lighter! If it holds up I’ll let you know! I’m super oily and live in south Ga!

Nothing can compare with ELDW. I have a shade in it to start with (only 4 foundations have perfect matches for me). It is dry, but when it mixes with my skin I am not even sure I am usin fundation if not for my dark spots being covered.
It is buildable on me. It doesn't enhance my pores or textures. It goes ok with the blushes I have.
I've used it for 13 hours once over a mattifying sunscreen without blotting, although it was a little light by the end of the night. It doesn't transfer much. Yeah! It is perfection for my skin.
Yes, I feel the too faced side looks more oily than the EL side
Both great foundations but I’m SO GREASY!!!! I’ve tried every foundation AND primer under the sun and my oils still seep through all the foundations I’ve tried!

I have two faced now and it is alright, I’m not over excited about it. The Double wear worked great when I worked corrections, it lasted quiet a while but it was almost like paint not a thick feeling but more matte feeling. I stopped wearing after leaving corrections.
I know use drug store brands like L’Oréal Infallible and it actually does beautifully and last close to eight hours with the technique how to get flawless skin, that video helped so much for making my making last, dusting and the spraying my face then foundation, huge improvement 😊
This is so funny bc I’m a normal to dry skin lady and love a good glowy foundation for myself but when I’m watching this from my iPhone I thought the Double wear looked so good on you. More matte but beautiful and airbrushed. The too faced was nice but yeah I saw more shine on camera and not as airbrushed looking on camera but maybe in person it looks better! Btw where is your necklace holder from? It’s great!

I have normal to dry skin and the ELDW looks like the TwoFaced does on y our skin. As the day goes on the DW melts into my skin and creates the prettiest sheen. I am curious when you wear the ELHydra foundation and how you would compare that one to the DW?

Stephanie’s video made me want the Too Faced foundation, but this video made me realize it probably won’t work because my skin is so oily that it breaks up ELDW. Guess I’ll be sticking with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte. Yay for saving money, I guess? lol
