    I don't think a 10-80 meter portable antenna exists because EVERY review only tests on 20 meters and says the antenna is great. 😮

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LOL Paul O; you bring up a valid point. 20 meters is such a popular / busy band with international use, I think that's why it gets used. I could have sworn I have shown the 7350T on 40 meters also. I've found viewers get bored after 1 QSO and click off, so I've reduced how many I show.
      All that said, challenge accepted. You'll see the 7350 coming up in the near future on 10 - 80....multiple short videos.

    Do you see this as possibly being a semi-permanent antenna?

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe it is considered to be a portable, short term use antenna, rather than a permanent shack set up--i.e, not sure it will withstand extreme weather for a long period. I'll investigate this further and try to include some commentary in one of the next videos.

    I have to admit like you I am intrigued by these types of antennas for the portability, ease of erecting and stealthiness of them. I have similar version which has various taps much like the toy box antenna at the side for selecting the bands and after a little research and some experimenting. I was told it is best to treat these types of antennas a bit like a dipole, that you must have one tuned raised counterpoise which intern is other half of the antenna (hence dipole) this must be kept off the ground otherwise it becomes very lossy causing VSWR issues. You can still add as many radials as you like which help ? I'm a new operator and certainly no expert! Maybe you could do a video showing the difference between one tuned counterpoise and several bunches radials. 73's from your friend across the pound.

    Your videos about the Gabil antenna helped me decide to get one and I'm really happy with this purchase. Already got on 80m which was something unthinkable with my balcony situation. I have a question: do you know if the Chameleon CHA SS17 whip will fit on the Gabil coil? Looking to get a whip to improve the radiation pattern and bandwidth. Thanks!

    Great demonstration of the Gabil GRA-7350T antenna. While it works pretty much the same as the Wolf River Coil, it's unfortunate that the kit only includes the antenna and coil. No radials or base on which to mount it. You would think that for $129.00 they would at least include these necessary components. And while you could purchase the tripod which sells for an additional $100.00. I guess if you had the parts you needed, you'd have the makings of a great antenna. As for the Wolf River Coil TIA Mini however, it comes with everything you need to set it up, coil, antenna, tripod and radials all for $130.00. But the best part, is that it's made in the USA not like the Gabil which is from Taiwan.

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Kenneth. Your observations are spot on. The WRC is lower cost with great performance. I am migrating to the Gabil to have a smaller footprint, lighter weight, and more versatility in my Go Bag -- it is at a premium price. So many great options out there today to meet all kinds of preferences and budgets.

    Good test. Interesting vertical.
    Your 73ft endfed is a random wire, so it may be a tad down from an EFHW antenna. In either case both type endfed antennas should operate most bands without a tuner or adjustment. For me no tuner on multiple bands is a big plus.
    For ECOM its hard to beat a good 80m-10m EFHW.
    The vertical might beat it in some DX situations with lower angle radiation.
    For EMCOM I want 80m & 40m NVIS. The vertical will be very weak in that respect.

    @HOA Ham. YT suggested one of your video’s just a day or two ago. It was on the banana plug radial. Watched it twice. Reviewed the techniques again and hunted down the parts. Gotta admit, a bit more in cost than I would have imagined. But, I will have supplies for future projects or to help fellow hams out. Your investigation into stealthy/HOA friendly antennas made me a subscriber. My question is “what is the setup at the radio end?” I see you have the SDRuno on screen and noted a ‘very’ acceptable noise floor. I myself run a Super Antenna with an aggravating noise floor, so I am interested in which components/sw you use to mitigate noise. Parts are still in route but, I am looking forward to assembling my banana plug radials. 73! And hope to hear back from you. KI5SWA
