The set design in this movie is brilliant. I've always liked this scene with the art deco building and the gateway to another dimension. Not like the cgi crap in GB 2016.
@@Shadozer278 Gozer would win. As powerful as Palpatine is, at the end of the day, Force or no Force, Legends or not, he's still human and mortal. Gozer on other hand, is a God. I don't see Force Storms getting it done against Gozer as that takes time to really get going, not something he can summon fast in the middle of a battle. Ultimately it took a low-yield nuclear explosion to get it done against Gozer. As far as I know, there isn't a Force power on either side of the Force that wreaks that kind of destruction that fast in Canon or Legends. Palpatine will have quite a problem. A God in the form of 100+ foot marshmallow man bent on curbstomping him and Coruscant. Sure, he could get the Death Star to do single ignition blast or the Imperial fleet to do orbital bombardment but doing that will kill a lot the Empire's command and control elements, Captains, Generals, Admirals, Moffs, etc people not easily replaced, not to mention loss of resources and radiation fallout, a huge death toll and droid destruction toll, almost no one available to rebuild. Palpatine will have problems even if he some how pulled it off

He could literally just reincarnate himself back into another body at will as a force ghost. Palpatine could have literally taken out the entire rebel army without the need for the rest of the empire fleet. It was this overconfidence that was his own undoing in Episode VI.
Ray's request to Gozer is fucking brilliant. Such hilarious understated comedy. The characters are so we'll defined, that only the character ray is able to pull that line off.
Ray's dialogue in this scene is very much the brainchild of Dan Aykroyd. He loves writing -- and delivering -- that type of lengthy, complex speech. It's perfect, really. There's also a delicious morsel of irony in his use of the phrase "duly-designated representative"!

Yes, they did it without shock humor. It was just pure intellectual comedy, with a healthy dose of cinematic acting. You can't teach it. They just had it.
