I really liked this video, it was real and not science, but gave results that us ‘too high to have a handicap’ golfers appreciate. To me, it gave foxy better good shots and less bad, bad shots and it’s the less bad bad shots that give you better scores! Thanks guys!
Have him try it for a round of golf. James I do believe in what you are saying. I do have the big Bertha b21. I do like it and it has helped me play better golf.
Foxy is at that point in every beginner's game when you can finally hit the ball but have absolutely no idea if it's gonna fly straight or off the planet. Actually that is every golfer's game LOL 😉
I fully understand Callaways marketing strategy. However, I'm with you both ie invest in lessons / get fitted / practice. Once you're handicap and skills improve then it might be worthwhile re-visiting a new driver As always James & Foxy, an excellent video!!
It's good to see the balance between equipment changes and practice. If you are playing to improve, standard clubs are the choice. If you are just looking for something that improves your weekend performance, the change in the face angle nay be a bonus. This review proves it out for either golfer. Equipment can help if you dont have the drive to improve on your weaknesses. Great review and video.
An on course test with this would be great, I am similar Handicap (29) and also have a slice problem and rarely use my driver because of this and stick to my 4 Hybrid off the tee 90% of the time. Great insight though into not spaffing hundreds of pounds on a new driver but actually investing more time and less money into lessons and practicing with the information from those lessons. Great content and keep it going! Been great to follow Foxy's journey as I feel it's similar to mine... though I am yet to break 100 still, got close with a 100 in September though
I had the Mizuno fitted, same as Foxy. I could hit it, but still had some horrible right misses. Been working on my swing with lessons for 10 months and I can now get a nice draw on my irons but still missing right with driver. Got the B21 and have been so much more consistent and have almost cut out the driver slice. The big face and size of the BB really helped my mishits. The lessons helped my path. I think the confidence Foxy would get with the BB at address would he!p him. His BB shots seems to go longer. Great videos with some good humour. Have subscribed as you have an engaging way of presenting👍
Thanks for sharing James, it is refreshing to see a high handicapper giving it a go. I'm wondering about the shaft length the lad was using, and how much better he might do with a shorter shaft length. I'm still gaming the old predecessor to this B21, in the Fusion driver, albeit at 44.5" length vs the B21 standard length being 45.75". I don't feel I'm losing anything in distance over a longer shaft, likely due to the shorter length being infinitely easier to control and hit the sweet spot on the face with much more regularity. I might add that myself and all my golf mates are retired and living in the Philippines, and as such, play nearly everyday, year round, have loads of time on our hands and like to tinker with golf equipment as well. ;)
Enjoyable watching Foxy trying the callaway driver and enjoying it. Fingers crossed you get to take it out on to the course and try it there against his mizuno driver
If the 2 out of 10 block pushes/slices stay in play with the b21 then that's saving Mr fox 4 shots per round straight away. If it's better/further on the good strikes as well then it's money well spent... but it comes down to having themoney to spend or no
Would a grip change help foxy? as I used to hit the same shot and he holds the club the same as I used to. Since I had lessons and my pro changed my grip slightly it has improved my strike and I'm hitting the ball 9 out of 10 straight and the slice has disappeared just by changing my right hand more.
I used to struggle with a slice. One day i watched a video where they talked about keeping the club low through the entire swing and i strengthened my grip some and it completely fixed it over night. Every now and again i'll revert for a shot but i instantly know what i did wrong and i'm hitting the balls really well.
Been waiting ages for this video but great video. I think James should treat foxy to a full fitting on the callaway b21 and see how he gets on with it to his spec
I believe Foxy should take it out on the course and try it. I am a big believer in playing the shot you are hitting that day, aim a little left until you start hitting it straight. You're score doesn't have to suffer while you are trying to work it out and hit the perfect shot.
One of the main advantage of the BB21 driver is that you can get it with a 12.5° loft (+2) and not many drivers can be found with such a loft. And I think that high handicap (low swing speed golfers) could appreciate a 12.5° + antislice driver.
I’m a beginner, I got a set of Adam’s irons, and I love them, but I don’t have a driver of fairway wood (3 and 4 hybrid), so I have never hit a driver, ever. How can I go to a shop and ask to try a driver, when I have never even hit one, so don’t actually know how to? But without owning one, how can I practice either? Don’t know where to start really. My biggest worry is spending £300+ on a club I can’t use!
Its his right thumb so much on the top of the shaft that is a big component of his face being open. He needs to grip it properly to be able to return the club face square.
There was a time when the old school would bang on about being able to hit a 3 wood "properly" before you even think about hitting driver. They obviously didn't like fun. Hitting driver is fun. Golf should be fun.
Fair, but not a bad statement to go by. For me, I couldn't hit a driver longer than 120 yards without slicing nasty. I was carrying my 3w 220 off the tee, and straight. For me, it was pointless to pick up my driver, until I could be consistent with my 3w.
@@potatytomaty9908 that's a no brainer. 3 wood every time. Get that driver onto the practice ground or change it. I've only ever had two drivers I've ever got on with. Taylormade Tour Burner tp and my M3. I'm a beast with driver. My short game sucks.
@@chrissellings exactly! And that is precisely what I'm doing. My rule now is, driver one to two times per 9 holes, if it doesn't work out, it goes back in the bag until I get back on the range.
@@potatytomaty9908 i must say i love my Cobra forged tec 2 iron as well. The new generation of 2 irons are great. Probably better in the summer but my course has a couple of long 3's into strong winds that it works great on.
Bang on lads always spend ya money on Lessons and practice before equipment 👍. Think this kind of club is targeted at the golfer who doesn't want /hasn't got time to put the graft into improving and just wants to go out and play with his slice instead of training to fix it. Which is fair enough by the way not everyone takes it a serious as everyone else. Good video lads looking forward the foxy hitting it out on the course 👍
Got this driver and the 3 wood. Used to slice really bad. With a little change in my swing and this B21 I've been hitting straight down the middle 85 percent of the time.
I like the posting but I disagree with the anti-game improvement club tone. I’ve been golfing since I was eight, using a Big Bertha Diablo Driver and Big Bertha Fusion fairway woods, and Big Bertha ibrid irons. Lessons twice a month and driving range every week. I get laughed at on the first tee but not in the clubhouse after the game. I plan on getting fit for the B-21’s. Super Game Improvement helps the weekly golfer have a more predictable game. Love Callaway Super Game Improvement……….let’s do it now 👍
I know what your saying about the cost and is it worth replacing a 2 or 3 year old driver but what if I'm currently using an old er driver is it worth it then WHAT DRIVER SHOULD I BUY. Its a very confusing question

James , the truth is there might not be enough difference in the technology between drivers to change a shot outcome, but there is massive changes possible in proper fitting. Otherwise the top players in the world wouldn't be bothering with swing weight and MOI. The type of shaft needs to be matched to your swing. How stable you swing along the plane and what changes in direction you are combining into your swing can be matched by technology in shaft and head. Its not about changing your swing with a different driver, but it can be about getting the mass of the driver head more centred behind the place you strike most often on the face. If you loose the ball right because you strike it in the heel more often. Then positioning the mass more heel centric resists the gearing effect that rolls the ball right. If your control is not great and you are striking the face all over the place, then the heel centric weight will also exaggerate the gearing off of the toe. Soooo if you are someone that is slicing the ball with a bad technique and a poorly fitted driver, then getting the setup fixed (which can happen coincidentally with using a different driver) could instantly change your average slightly heal hit shot shape to a "straighter" flight and centre to toe hits will draw more than you are accustomed to seeing. So the impression is that you are now hitting draws not fade/cuts. However, DO NOT BUY A DRIVER TO FIX YOUR GAME! Rather spend the money on lessons with professionals who have access to modern technology. Diagnose and fix the fault not the opinion. and BE PATIENT, swing fixes take months not hours. So just out of curiosity....while spending the money on a new driver might not fix the slice...I would want to see what would happen with foxy if you were to give him a mid size or larger grip and a stiffer shaft. When I got fitted I did that and now have a much more consistent drive in the fairway.
You’re right. An anti slice driver can be sliced. If the club face is open at impact, it’s gonna go right. Fade & Draw bias on a driver can help but technique is the key in Foxy’s case...... and any other golfer who struggles with left & right shots. 👍🏻⛳️😃
Foxy's straight drives seem to be much slower backswing, maybe he could just slow down a little and take lcub back along ground before moving club into backswing and get more accuracy?? cheers
James, using a Mizuno ST driver found I have straightened my drives by rotating my left hand around more on the club which has also made me control my swing more... guessing same theory can be applied to long irons?
I switched to the B21 and my miss is now more left! My fairways hit have improved and my stats now show 71%. I noticed Foxy rotates his left hand when starting the takeaway which must impact on the club face staying open for longer therefore contributing to a slice?
Please test the B21 on the course. I would also suggest that Fox tries to keep that driver face a bit closed on his backswing. Seems like he is really opening the face as soon as he starts his backswing. JMO
Got the b21 45g shaft love it,, bad one's still in play,, easy to draw,,, a mate had same results,, be interesting to see on course foxy action with b21 can he keep it in play,, cheers Alan 😎🤔
I think part of Foxy's slices are coming from not rotating through the shot as much. When he does slice his right foot is nearly planted on the floor and not following through to finish on his toe. Apart from that his progress has been really good to see
Has ping not been doing this with the SFTEC drivers, just helping the swing path with more weight towards the heel. Even if you buy a new driver your still spending the money on the range aswell trying it out. Worth paying for the lessons
First Things First.... I throughly enjoy your videos. You seem to just want to have fun with the game and realize that it is just a game best enjoyed with friends. what have I learned from James and his mates New equipment is not the answer/quick fix for any problems A lesson and practice is better money and time spent New gear is always nice but not always needed
Not sure this club is the answer...but I’ve played 3 rounds with my new B21...I aim down the middle now, not way left for a bit cut. Really tightened in my accuracy, I know it’s not all the club...but maybe confidence in it helps we whack it better. Funny old game 🤣🚀
Relate to foxy really well as I used to be just like him without the luck of having a club pro as a best mate. But on the course when you’re aiming at something should really be the judge. Plus a little selfish too as I’m at St Andrews at the end of the month at the Callaway performance centre trying out drivers so would be keen to see how foxy gets on on the course with it.
Perhaps try and sort his balance, lack of rotation after strike and grip instead of looking for miracles in a club as you say, looks to be easy fixes and gains to be made
Spend the money on lessons & practice. No club will make faults just disappear. Lessons might straighten up the shots. James should teach Foxy the fore left to counteract the fore right....
Would putting the loft up not help Foxy more then bringing it down the lower the loft will push it right especially for a new starter. I would of thought maybe a 12 degree driver might benefit Foxy more until he has the confidence in knowing his game and knowing his swing, only a thought nothing more.
I think lessons are definitely the way forward and buy something neutral or at least something that's adjustable. He doesn't want to get to a point where he starts swinging in to out and then starts hooking it and needs to buy a new club. I am speaking from current experience!
Foxy is right. He will grow into better driver. In year he can search E bay for year old premium driver and correct shaft for 50% less. Unless his new wife keeps him at home with chores.
What is a golfer with a budget to do? If my budget is $500, and fitting adds $100 to cost that leaves $400.... what is possible at tha cost? Can you even get custom?
Foxy getting better. Got to get him to use lower body and turn on to that left side. (Said like I know and I don’t). Spend a lesson on watching how the club face is that far open on those waaaaayyyyy right shots. That driver offset an ‘toe estate’ puts me straight off. Like those TM M4 fairways.
U can tell by his legs end position that it was purely his swing. Also I think u should give him the club to practice with for a week before playing on the course to get used to it and then u can have a proper comparison.
Great to see Foxy still playing Golf and putting in the effort to try to improve his game. I've seen loads of people just give up Golf when they are at Foxys handicap, and I bet you have seen that too.

It would be nice to see if the Calloway helps Foxy on the coarse
on course would be interesting test, purely due to not being in the enclosed space of the range...
If you notice Mr Fox ..his right stay way back on the finish ..right foot should be up on the top..you can see every shot he finish off balance!!
Foxy mate check your grip and tee ball up a bit it might give you a better straight flight
Could you do a range session showing Foxy how to fix his slice?
Perhaps try and sort his balance, lack of rotation after strike and grip instead of looking for miracles in a club as you say, looks to be easy fixes and gains to be made
Yes if a high handicap ment you can’t access testing and good equipment the manufacturers would go under ⛳️👍👍👍
Absolutely
Spend the money on lessons & practice.
No club will make faults just disappear.
Lessons might straighten up the shots.
James should teach Foxy the fore left to counteract the fore right....
😂😂😂😂
I am a low 100 almost high 90 I slice bad so I have to line up up far to the left what can I do to fix this?
Would have to see it Barry
What app are you using for the shot tracing?
G425 might do the trick?! Start with SFT?
😉
Foxy getting better. Got to get him to use lower body and turn on to that left side. (Said like I know and I don’t). Spend a lesson on watching how the club face is that far open on those waaaaayyyyy right shots. That driver offset an ‘toe estate’ puts me straight off. Like those TM M4 fairways.
A good test of the driver, not the player. Excellent production.
Haha thanks Tony buddy
Sold me, the b21 is definitely worth it.
8:47 - Crushed that one, Foxy.
