Silly soldering video fixing Corsair Void Pro Wireless RGB headphones - no sound

  • Took about 15 mins from beginning to end. Found the problem, got out my soldering iron, fixed the problem. I purchased this refurbished Corsair Void Pro Wireless RGB headset in Aug 2017, so it is very much out of warranty.
This video was completely off topic and unplanned. I should have one or two more videos up this weekend on things people care about! Stay tuned!

Good quick video. Someone wasn't careful after taking apart the cover, and well.....have any suggestions if the small board on the speaker comes unattached (wires all still connected to the board)?

I haven't had them apart in a very long time now so I am not sure. I would think that the small board shouldn't come unattached as it is likely the input logic for the speakers.
I might replace the battery in them next, as they are not holding their charge as well as they used to, but I'm undecided as to when I will do that currently.

this video is what I was looking for! wow thank you!
I don't have a soldering iron so I don't know if I can fix it lol.

Thanks for the video, I accidentally pulled my wires out when replacing the battery. I just need to buy a small kit now or an iron atleast to quickly get it back on. Do I need the flex you mentioned?

Flux is useful, as it helps old solder reflow much more quickly and reliably, but in my case I was lucky and didn't need to. I also had solder with flux in it, and I could have used a tiny but of that to help with the reflow if I wanted. Unless you plan on doing more soldering (if you buy an iron, heck, why not!) you can get away with no flux imo for this one time. I did do this soldering on the less complicated side (the right side), so on the left side, there may be additional items that need soldering that are not shown on this video. It is a doable repair for sure and shouldn't require advanced soldering knowledge.
Don't make the mistake that I did, I forgot my PPE (aka, safety glasses)!

@@TheXev thanks again idk how much I'll do overall in the future, hopefully not alot as that would indicate friends having issues with their stuff, I do help them out with swapping out parts on PCs and other issues since I know enough in that field. This is my first time doing this, so I appreciate the help and advice. Actually one of my aforementioned friends bought a new headset so I asked her if I could have these ones as I like to work with tech and their a steal if I end up spending 20 bucks on a 70+ item. Unfortunately I majored in computer science and cybersecurity and not engineering lol.

I accidenlty removed the small board on the right ear side, but the wires are still attached, what to do ? Right ear now is not working. Thanks in advance!

I really have no ideas. I was lucky and had a clear problem with the speaker wire coming apart, so it was an easy fix for me. I do plan on replacing my battery in the future, so perhaps when that happens I'll have a clue, but I am unsure when I'll get around to it now.

I am realizing that there is a comment below with this exact same issue, and I responded in the same way. Perhaps that person had better luck? I would @ them and see if they respond.

I accidentally dropped it on the floor last week (I forgot I had it on my head because it's so comfortable) and now it only works on the left side!
I don't understand, I've opened it on the right side like you did and everything's plugged in, or maybe I need to do some soldering because it may have impacted it ?

In my case, it was the right side speaker that stopped working. You may need to open the left side. The left side should be easier to take apart since their is no battery.

@@TheXev Yeah me too the right side RGB is on and battery running but no sound.
But now I checked closer, the tiny board with the 2 tiny wires (the one that you are soldering) next to the magnet is loose ! So if think that I need to to glue it together with some conductive glue ?

What happen if I split up the green board from earphone? I tried to see if I could do some kind of contact between earphone and board but I didn't find anything, heelp

Off, I really do not know. I made this video a few years ago and haven't had to open them up since. I wish I could help but I don't think I'd have any useful advice. :X

Damn, you're too diligent Xev, searched up the solution and fixed it. Last time my set broke I just threw it out and bought a new one.
Yes, I am in fact, lazy lmao

guys, do not buy this headset, you'll be getting static noise which is insanely annoying, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it(personal experience)

This headset is basically out of support now even though you can still buy it new. I never had popping noises on mine, except for just before this cable failed. I still have this headset, but it is packed away. It makes no sense to buy this headset today as you have to run an older, buggy version of Corsair iCue to use all of it's features.
I purchased the Corsair Virtuoso XT Wireless to replace it, and I kind of regret it. I'll likely be moving to a different headphone maker and slowly backing out of the Corsair ecosystem.
