    Great video! Thanks! I have this headset and it worked really well for over two years but a couple of weeks ago the battery life dropped suddenly and dramatically down to about 20 minutes. I ordered my battery before I saw this video so I probably could have gone bigger but opted for a 1400 which the article said had been used to swap out a defective battery in this headset, so I played it safe and went for the same. Then I googled how to do it and your video was top of the list and I needed nothing else. £15 on the battery or thereabouts - saved me a lot of money on unnecessarily replacing the headset. So thanks again! Very informative!

    My Corsair Void Pro Wireless RGB head set died on me all of the sudden. I bought it refurbished 8 months ago paying only $50 on amazon. A new one would have cost me $99 and the refurbished were no longer available. Following your guide, i purchased a precision screw driver for set $12 and a 3.7v Lithium Ion Battery 1400mAh for $14. It works brilliantly! You saved me over $70 and I learned a valuable skill! God Bless! thank You!

    My battery was soooo inflated that I almost couldn't get the screws out due to the pressure. It was about 3 times thicker than the one you took out in your video. Crazy to think a chemical reaction like that was happening right next to my right ear. lol.
    Thanks again!

    Just stopping buy to say I used this video to upgrade / replace a defective battery in my headset. Great guide. I ended up using a 1500 battery and it works great. Had to toss the plastic shell though. I just used some electrical tape in a loop to secure the backside of the battery, and then another strip over the top to really make sure it was safe.
    Edit: This will prevent ICUE from recognizing your battery life, so if that is something that is important to you, I wouldn't know how to correct that. Sorry.

    TO VOID ELITE RGB WIRELESS OWNERS:
    Our battery compartment is the EXACT same as the regular void's shown in the video, and the void pro's in the comments!
    Ordering a 2000mAh 3-pin JST 103450 on payday bcuz screw this 10 hours battery life. Kinda sad that corsair has the AUDACITY to call this "elite" when it's the same freaking headset and internals, just a tweak to the software for larger frequency range.
    Our battery, however is a 553450 code, not the 523450 shown in the video. The capacity is the same.

    I finally received my new battery :) I didn't find the mentioned larger 3-Pin version anymore, only with original dimension. So I went for a (nominal) 1800mAh 604050 lipo. It PERFECTLY FITS into the black plastic retention bracket. The part with the resistor works, too. I took 9,6k from the scrap. Re-assembling the right side works best when you take both half-shells in one hand and move the ear-side part with your thumb until the screw-holes overlap. When doing it like in the video, it might mistakenly feel like there is something stuck in between.

    Just got one of these headsets free from a friend of mine he complained on the battery being bad on it & went with a wired headset instead.
    I might take the battery out entirely if it doesn't seem too last anywhere close too at least 2 hours, gonna let it charge over night as i had too take off the earmuffs & cleaned them out first with dishsoap & hot water, it ended up removing some of the fake leather but id rather have a clean headset on my head a bit later then putting them on my head tonight.
    Extend the wires & make a hole too put the battery on the outside, maybe a 18650 cell might work for that, though i do have a few 3 wire batteries that are from an old 10 inch tablet laying around i think.

    Man, I wish I had found your video last night. My new battery came in yesterday and while attempting to replace the old one, the little white wire connected to the ear-cup tore away from the solder joint. I borrowed an old soldering iron from my dad but I've never done it before. Ugh, if only I had know how short the wires were and how easily they can come undone.
    Question: I don't have any solder with the gun, unfortunately, but there is quite a bit of it on the joint where the wire was; is it possible to heat up that existing solder on the joint and just re-join the wire while the solder is soft?
    Hope to hear from you and thanks for the vid!

    • @MoonsideResident
      @MoonsideResident 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Adamant_IT Yeah, I ended up trying it last night but no cigar. I couldn't get the wire to stick. I'm not even sure if I stripped it correctly; those wires are freaking tiny. Here's hoping I didn't ruin anything completely by re-attempting it multiple times, heh.
      I'll probably see about getting one of those Soldering kits that comes with everything needed and try again at some point. For now, I gave in and ordered another set (the new version of the same one). Always kind of wanted the black one anyway. I mean, aside from the battery being lousy, it's the most durable wireless gaming headset I've found and the only one that hasn't broken at the hinges due to my big head, lol. Maybe once the battery in the new set dies (which will probably be in about the same amount of time, going by reviews, sigh...) I can try to replace the battery again--this time being extremely meticulous about not pulling on the wires.
      By the way, in case you need another replacement at some point, I found one that doesn't require the wire fusing (it's pretty small and seems to fit fine from what I can tell): www.ebay.com/itm/AOTU-1500mAh-Replacement-Battery-for-Infant-Optics-DXR-8-Video-Baby-Monitors/123529468658?epid=850293912&hash=item1cc2ee1af2:g:7LsAAOSwNe9cCSyR:sc:ShippingMethodExpress!36330!US!-1

    so thanks to this video i fixed my headset the battery was terrible am talking as soon as you unplugged it from its charger it will immediately tell me that the battery is low. so i looked around to see if there were anyone else with this issue. and lucky this channel came to my search in youtube. i did follow the steps and recommendation he gave so i took the best one and chose the 2000mah battery if i remember correctly its a 103450 3.7v 2000mah and this new battery gave me more hours of gaming. and am still going to test over the weekend to see how well it does but the old battery that came in these headsets where horrible. whether you are using the new model or older model like mine and in the video, i recommend replacing the battery regardless, unless corsair fixed this issue with their new model.

      is your battery the two pin version? I've got that one but I'm not sure if I need to add a 10k resistor or not

    Man the quality of this video is great. Is there any risk of using too thick of a battery and it exploding because it is too tight against the plastic frame?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won't explode, but the ear piece won't screw back together properly - you'll break the screw holes trying to tighten it up if the cell is too thick.

    My headset displays all the symptoms of a worn out battery, but I opened my headset up and the battery isn't "swollen" at all. Is there still a point in ordering a replacement battery, or is there something else fishy going on? Thanks

    So I did this and it works perfectly and the battery lasted so much longer than my old one did. However, after the charge died, it no longer recharges and I can only use my headset when its plugged in. Any ideas?

    So in the midst of trying to replace the battery the PCB came away from the speaker and now it's broke. Any suggestions on what I can do with that? Was going to try to take the glue off and see what was underneath and if I could re-wire the pcb on the headset but open to suggestions. at 18:33 is the pcb i'm talking about.

    • @DdraigX
      @DdraigX 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Adamant_IT Yea it actually broke the traces of the PCB that go through into the speaker part. At the back of the PCB there are traces that go through a hole in the plastic. I tried prying the speaker off but it's glued in pretty good. If I feel adventurous I might dremel it open and see. I ended up finding a set of headphones on ebay for parts so hopefully I'll have luck with one of the right speakers working. In the past I have also had one of these headphones catch on fire/start smoking from the charge port. The video should be in my channel if you're interested.

    I followed this tutorial and upgraded the battery to a 3.7V 2000mAh Lipo Battery Rechargeable 103450 JST 3pin 1.0/1.25/1.5/2.0/2.5 plug. (update: Mine was the 1.0mm. Wonder if I seated the pins wrong??) The first issue I ran into was the plug was not the correct size, so I had to loosen the pins and replace the plug with the one from the old battery. Not very fun. Then I found that actually this battery is too fat to fit in so I had to lay it horizontally not vertically as the other battery was arranged. This way the driver Magnet did not sit directly on the battery. I was not able to close the earphone as before, but I did screw it down until it held in place. When I wear the headset I cant tell that it is protruding. However my biggest problem is that when I am charging the headset it will not fully charge. After hours of charging (5hrs), the battery shows that it is 88% charged, no matter how long it is plugged in. @adamantIT do you know why this might be? It is worth mentioning that I have the Void Pro Wireless headset. I seems to be a model newer than the ones in this video. I can answer any question and share my experiences on my reddit if anyone would like more in formation (Sono81). Or you can contact me by replying to this comment.

    I have this headset, and unfortunately I was adjusting the mic arm from the inside and the driver cables both got torn out... I'm not sure how to and even if it is possible to reconnect those cables but I would appreciate any tips for advice.

  • @maxmusta

    Instead of cutting the wires, i soldered the cables directly on the Protection Circuit (PCB). It is even possible to unsolder the protection circuit from the LiPo battery and attach it to the new battery. (be very careful, avoid short circuits) But be aware, that handling LiPo batteries is always a risk (danger of fire or explosion), you need to know what you are doing.

    I'm using a temporary 606090 which I of coursed wired externally using the 10k resistor mod to the thermistor, and after doing this, I'm getting a hiss on the right ear, and I'm thinking this might be because of the wiring I'm using or maybe the 10k resistor is inducing this noise...
    Any solution?

    Never ended up ordering a battery here but looking around atm just remembering it again, think a logitech g900 replacement battery would work ? 51.30 x 33.80 x 6.60 mm measurements 1000 mah which is fine imo but not 100% sure what the plugsize is yet on the g900.

    Your video helped me a lot for 2 years when I changed the battery !! I bought it in 2016.
    Maybe you can help me now ?!
    I accidentally dropped it on the floor last week (I forgot I had it on my head because it's so comfortable) and now it only works on the left side! I've opened it on the right and everything's plugged in, so what could be wrong? coil? magnet? I can't imagine a cable breaking during a fall. If you can help me that would be awesome ! Because it is charging I see the RGB on the right ... just no sound :(

    Bad advice regarding the thermostat - it will regulate charging, based on battery temperature. Also, depending on the plug, you may have been able to either remove the pins from the plug and attach the new battery without solder and heatshrink.

    so i see its been 3, nearly 4 years, since this upgrade. not sure if you have these headphones anymore but im curious. Did the upgrade last long term? i mean, did you have any issues down the road from the upgrade that caused the headset to stop working all together? did the other components handle the increase in power? also, did you notice an increase of heat, since it was a bigger battery? Id like to do this upgrade on my Void Pro SE Headset, bcuz you're correct, these things are super comfy. thanks @Adamant IT

      I'm more likely to replace the headset for the sake of having something newer and more modern at this point. Although last year I replaced the ear cups as well, which really helped with lasting comfort.
