Yet another episode of marketing bullshit. Any Duramax owner that has changed their own oil knows that the oil filter is tilted down toward the rear...like holding a cup of water (or other beverage). The oil will NOT drain out of the filter when the engine is stopped.
Plus, for those in the audience that are paying attention during the last 50 years or so, the "check valve" in the oil filter (any of them) described is NOT a check valve by any stretch of the imagination. The "valve" in the bottom of the oil filter is a bypass valve, whose only purpose is to allow oil to bypass the filter media in the rare case that it becomes too plugged/dirty to allow the oil to circulate through the media. The oil would be allowed to bypass the plugged media and at least provide some lubrication to the engine, instead of being stopped by a dirty filter.

A dry start? False. You have to add an additional quart of oil using the CAT filter. But I stick with stock personally.

I assumed that the filter being as low and on an angle the oil wouldn’t flow back uphill, unless the volume of oil in the galleys is enough to push oil back through filter? Also doesn’t the oil cooler have pressure relief valve?

2018 L5P bought PPE deep oil filter.... seal on head blew out on it on remote start dumped almost all of oil contacted PPE sent them pictures of it and they have yet to offer any assistance or reimbursement haven’t even contacted me back... always thought they were a better company than this🤬🤬🤬

You left out centrifuge bypass filtration in conjunction with standard filters as you are addressing. I just did a DieselCraft centrifuge on my 2015. I did have to fab. a bracket but that is so so simple. It's so simple that I'm going to fab a few and send to DieselCraft.

correction there is never a dry start on any motor, there is always a oil film on the bearing surfaces rather a motor sits over night or a motor that sits is a car for decades in the woods......the only way there is a dry start on an engine is during an engine assembly where the builder forgets to use assembly lube on the bearing surfaces and secondly 5 micros how restrictive is that

I disagree with the term "DRY START" because rather an engine sits for 5 minutes or 40 years there's always a film of oil on the bearings when you remove the bearing caps

People saying their filter at an angle won't drain, do not understand the siphon principles and how it will siphon(drain) back into the oil pan Until there is an air bubble introduced creating a break in the siphon(fluid vaccum) which will in fact cause a dry start. If you have a Cat conversion adapter with an anti siphon valve then your golden.... but if not (I'm not aware of any that do, let me know if you do) then I'd be concerned to use it.

40 bucks for a oil filter your nuts and all the guys are not going to love this at that price 160 bucks a year just for oil filters and add 3 gals that’s nuts not for me and I heard cat is in the process of putting in a check valve just for trucks.
