    Like many others I had the same issue with my 2021 Compass. After spending 30 bucks on a plastic bucket I really didnt feel like cutting or heating up the plastic to make it fit. This is the fix I was looking for! I just ordered my pool noodles and cant wait to try it out. Thanks for posting this video, very helpful!

    Very helpful thank you! Fixed it 50% but I ended up also taking a heat gun and softening the parts of the drop in bucket where it touches the inside grooves of the hull. Then closed the hatch and locked it. Totally worked out! The bucket curves at the end but it still holds a couple plano boxes with minimal distortion of the bucket

      Dang, you must have had quite a bit of creep! Glad you finagled a solution that works.

    Awesome fix. What size and where did you get the pool noodles? Thank you.

      I picked them up from Home Depot. I used the jumbo pool noodles & cut them to size.

    I like it! I noticed there is a lot of empty space inside the hull and the added benefit of making the hull a little stiffer plus added flotation is a win win. I pull a fifth wheel and I used two pool noodles on my Yakima crossbars to pack my compass and my old town trip ten. Got my compass loader on the way from the dealer too.

      You get it! Your gonna love that loader. The piece of mind that comes with it...priceless!

      Big Shticks The loader is in the mail! And I've got the seat bag coming too. Trying to keep up with ya!😎

      Nice! Wait...what’s the seat bag?!

      Big Shticks I got the Hobie vantage seat bag. Four Velcro straps secure it to the back of the seat. Whaaat! I got something on my yak you don't?

      I didn’t get the Hobie seat bag. I got a lifeproof low profile, leakproof cooler bag that I attach to back of the seat before trips 😎

      I’m confident it will fix your “deck collapse” issue with your compass. Thanks for stopping by & dropping a comment.

      i know it is kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released series online?

      @Ali Arturo I would suggest Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)

    Damn this normal for all hobies..debating on getting a 2020/2021 outback. Thanks

      @BigShticks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on how it’s stored & conditions. As for the outback. I don’t think there is much change from 20 to 21. As long as it has the 180 drive, vantage seat, tracks & H-rail it’s good!

    For a new kayak, I agree, there is just too much bend at the deck - not what I expected either

    • @BigShticks
      @BigShticks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, to be honest I was very disappointed. It would seem that in some areas of the kayak (deck in particular) is very thin & very flexible. Totally not what I was expecting from a rotomolded kayak let alone a Hobie kayak. I figured the mold would be uniform in thickness, totally not the case.

      @@BigShticks I saw that while you made your modifications for the rectangular hatch! Smh. The storage area in the stern is super solid which makes me believe the actual place you’d be standing on could have easily been designed better with a little more plastic.
      Still I love the way they look 😅

      Right! Pretty sad if you ask me. I too love the way they look, function, versatility & agility on the water.

    Just want to mention that the kayak itself will float even filled with water providing that there is not too much weight on it to sink it down. HDPE material floats in water by itself.

      True, but you will not be able to use it as a floating platform to hang on to like a boat. As is, it has what’s known as neutral buoyancy, which if filled with water will hover just below the surface. Any additional weight on or in the kayak will sink it. I know 2 people who have sunk their Hobie kayaks. Let’s just say they use float bags in the empty spaces of their new kayaks now. The addition of floatation foam increases the buoyancy & reduces the amount of water taken on by occupying space. I think this is a net positive.

      @@BigShticks You are right on; filling the inside with foam or airtight plastic bottles to minimize the volume of water that can get inside will always be a plus in buoyancy.
