Let us know if you find anything. I personally don't use my hatch for storage. I might store batteries back there, but I'm not sure yet. Thanks for watching.
that's strange. It might be showing you the option to buy them in bulk. When I click the link, it shows $3.74. I did enter my zip code, so it would check local stores for pick. Did you enter your zip code to find it at a local store? I was able to find it in my local Walmart. You could also try the Home Depot link. Is see at home depot for $4.76. The dimensions are 12 1/2" x 8 5/8" x 5 3/8".
Thank you. It measures slightly over 5 7/8". When I put it next to the Hobie bucket, it almost exactly the same depth. I hope this helps. I've seen other videos where they were able to use the Hobie bucket with no problem. Thanks for watching.
I actually made one from the same basket before I saw this video. Instead of using the shears the plastic is soft enough to cut with a box cutter. It's easier and cuts cleaner. The grey handles are made from a harder plastic and I used a hack saw to cut it to match the sides. I also cut curved notches in the middle of the long sides to accommodate the tabs in the hatch opening.
My blade was a bit dull and I didn't have a spare, so I used the cutters instead. The basket works really well for the price. It takes a little bit of modification, but it's something to keep you buys during these crazy times. Thanks for watching.
I've seen someone put insulation around the front hatch bucket. I don't know how well it actually worked. What's funny is that they put the bottle opener in the back hatch of the PA360, but I guess you can bring cans instead 🍺
Did you cut the handles as well or fold them inward? I talk about it at 5:17. Send me an email of a picture of it in the hatch and I can give you some suggestions. My email address is tomytekoutdoors@gmail.com
@@TomyTekOutdoors thanks for responding. Yes, I actually removed the handles. I’ll send you a video of it in the well and how the hatch is not closing. Thanks again!
Does the bucket rest fully seated in the hatch ? If the bucket is resting on the bottom of the kayak & the lip of the bucket is above the frame it will prevent the hatch from closing.
@@BigShticks the basket sits flush and will allow the lid to be closed and locked. You just have to make sure you trim enough around the sides and cut the bottom lip off.
@@TomyTekOutdoors Great idea. I trimmed the bucket and the hatch closes but wont lock. Bucket sets flush. I have a 2019 outback, I also trimmed out a space in the sides of the bucket for the lock arms to slide freely.Any idea how to fix it?

Great Option!
I works well and you can't beat the price.
Big thumbs up on this one. I’ve spent a ton of money rigging up my new hobie. Didn’t wanna spend 35 bucks on a bin.
Thank you. Hobies are pretty expensive, but great kayaks. Every little bit of savings helps. It's also fun to do DIY projects.
Thank you, awesome diy. The Hobie bucket price is ridiculous, over 40 shipped.
You're welcome. Glad to help. Anything with Hobie on it is gonna be priced high. It's good to save wherever you can. Thanks for watching.
$54 now.
That's crazy. Inflation I guess. I walked into Walmart and picked up this basket for way less.
Thanks for this suggestion. Fits perfectly with 15mins cutting/ sanding.
You're welcome. I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for watching.
thank you!!!
You're welcome!
perfect! Now I need to find one for the rear hatch on the PA 14...

Where is the link
There are 2 links in the video description.
The Walmart link shows $37. Can you find a new link or give me demension?

Great idea and nice vid! What is the depth of the bucket? The hull of my Compass (2021) is fairly shallow (4 inch or so).

It fits the compass. Just finished mine 👍
@@BB-rj2zn awesome. Good to know. Someone asked if it does, but I don't have one to test. Thanks for confirming it does.

Someone needs to make an insulated version of this bucket. Perfect for a sixer

This is awesome
Thanks. It works well.
I’ve cut the bin to fit in the PA12 front hatch like you have but my lid won’t close. Any thoughts why?

Them Hobie buckets are $30. Cool tip! Now I need to go buy PA kayak
Thank you. It will fit in any Hobie with a rectangular hatch. A PA is nice to have. It's the most comfortable Hobie I've ever been in.
Do you out tackle boxes in yours? If so, how many? It doesn’t look very big.
I use it to store loose items. It's not wide enough to store tackle boxes I have. I store my tackle boxes in a Engel cooler behind my seat.
Tin snips would probably work too!
Those should work well. Thanks for watching.
Can't beat $3 for a bucket
It works quite well.
