    My next purchase, great idea. Currently have mine on some jhooks hanging on the fence covered.

    I’m curious how the plastic pulleys held up and did the rope get torn up from the brake system after you installed the kayak hoist. Also I’m wondering why It wasn’t mentioned that an 8 foot ceiling would not work with this system because it would probably sit to low. I have a 10 ft ceiling and so far after 2 days it seems ok

      The plastic pulleys held up fine.. but with my kayak being around 75lbs... it was tough to get up and down all of the time. I kept buying kayaks so I ended up doing another solution which I LOVE! th-cam.com/video/aaou_K18-9g/w-d-xo.html

    I've never seen the end of a fishing season. I wonder what it looks like. 😁

    Man that was awesome watching you set up this project. That is an awesome spot to store your kayak in the garage. Also like it how you did the project wearing your sandals. Most people would be like I have to wear shoes or Boost to do this project. I would had to done that project either barefooted 👣or wearing my flip-flops. But I probably would have done in Barefooted 👣cuz when I'm at home I'm am 95% of the time barefooted 👣 even when I do work outside. Great video thank you for sharing.

      @@wendellfishing man that is just awesome to hear. I really do like those sandals you are wearing. I just wish I could get a pair of those. Having very chubby fat wide toes & a extremely wide foot is not helping. My wife loved the way my toes are so I got to keep the wife happy. I can definitely say she is in love with my toes for some reason.

    Wondering how you think it would fare with 9’ ceilings. I really want to be able to hang my kayak.

      Hey boss... I went out and measured ceiling to bottom of kayak and it was 30 inches. Hope that helps.

    Ever had any issues with the 125lb weight limit? My SS127 is 94lbs with nothing in it.

      Yes, the lag bolts that come with the kit are crap. It broke and my kayak came crashing down. Do yourself a favor and get some quality steel lags.

    Looks like you had to pull pretty hard in order to lift the kayak. Wouldn't it be easier if they hadn't Incorporated a couple of additional pulleys in order to make it effortless to lift The kayak?

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Yeshua, yes it would but the kit that I purchased came like this and with a 70lb kayak.. it's doable but not something I would want to do often.

      I just installed a similar system. I'm nearly lifting myself off my feet raising it. I'll be adding two single pulleys (bolted to ceiling) and replacing the load carrying pulleys with double pulleys the next time I have it down. ALSO, I'm just praying the lag bolts don't fail and it all comes crashing down on my truck, with all the weight I'm pulling down with.

    Is the reason you didn't go with the Harbor freight bike hoist the 50lbs weight limit?

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if I even know the bike hoist existed until now. But, if I did, I likely wouldn't have considered it because my yak is 65lbs... and.. I still would need to find straps for my yak. When I purchased the kayak pulley hoist last year is was $7 cheaper as well. I just purchased another one for my second yak

    Do away with those black straps! They're going to put too much pressure on your hull you'll end up with dents where the straps are in contact with the hull. I learned the hard way. Luckily I caught it in time.

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bummer man.. Mine hung for 4 months with no issue but the yak bare is only 65lbs

      AGREED. I just purchased a Hobie Passport 10.5. Hobie (and sales guy) clearly state NOT to use thin straps on the hull, it causes dents and voids any warranty. The manual says to invert kayak (top is different material) and use 2X4s. I cut 1/4" plywood to 8' x 32" to cradle the hull. Here's hoping.
