Future idea for when you are putting bearing back on,put a washer over bearing then use a long socket then when it gets too far down to hammer socket add another socket

Thank for this instructive video. Received my new bearings… will make the attempt to repair. Your drilled 2x2 is a clever idea to prevent damaging the new bearings 😅.

When removind the E clamps be careful about scoring the motor shaft. Had the same problem with getting that little bastard off. Used a dremel to smooth out shaft.

I'm bummed you didn't record it running before the tear down. Great vid tho. I came here because I have a split-system window AC and inside fan motor suddenly makes a winding noise after I did a thorough bleach cleaning to rid the fan housing of all the black mold built up inside it. So bummed.

no, it's not. if you put your phone right next to the side to video, it's going to sound loud. BTW, the grill will be sticking on the outside so you won't hear it much in the room. I know this because I sell ACs and take videos to post on social media and the audio part of the video is always so much louder than the actual level of sound.

Really cool to watch you fix this A/C! Have you ever opened a "sealed" bearing and greased it? Wonder if that would of helped too? Thanks for the upload!

No, I've never tried it. These shielded bearings, I don't think you can open.

@@airconditionersexposed Yep, you just pop the plastic covers off exposing the bears and you can grease them. Check TH-cam on how to do.

@@Ram14250 I have seen that. The original ones aren't sealed plastic though, they're all metal, shielded.

Yeh it's quite silence after changing Bearings, good job 😮

@@airconditionersexposedGreasing won’t help if the bearings are worn out or rusted. Shielded bearings easily get moisture intrusion and then the balls rust and get noisy. The rust grinds up more of the bearing, etc.

The motor looks like its magneticly sealed... essentially form fitted in a machine using magnetic pulse

This video is virtually useless. You don't show the most important parts and you don't explain anything.

If you can't understand what he's doing you don't need to be attempting this repair.
