I'm currently trying to break my 3 yr trauma bond. His behavior is beyond exhausting. Goes missing for days, don't respond to texts/calls, can't answer a simple yes or no question, try to change the topic, put words in your mouth, answer a question with a question, make everything about them. Always talking over you... Y'all know the list goes on and on. I must admit that I'm struggling because they sense when you're trying to break free and then they suck you right back in by being overly sweet. The cycle never ends. Prayers for any man or woman going through this❤️ It's oppressive and depressing.

My last straw was when my brother asked me to commit insurance fraud for him and he was ok with me going to jail for it. When I said I wouldn't lie for him he started cussing me out; that was it for me. I was done with him.
That's a profound observation. Made me think of how the Joker is always goading Batman on about how they're the same somehow. Poking and prodding at his psyche, knowing they are both damaged, but Batman chose good instead of evil. He wants Batman to lose control and react violently in anger. Because even if Joker dies, then he would know that he had won the psychological battle by stripping Batman of his virtue and moral code, by making him do something against his good nature, something evil. Like the Joker, they just want to destroy like a little kid toppling over a stack of blocks, or kicking the sandcastle made from someone else's hard work. They are clowns. Batman's calmness and sense of justice, unsettles Joker's madness and desire for chaos. He just can't believe Batman is for real. So he pushes his buttons, because he so deeply believes one of the buttons will cause a self-destruction, like what happened with him. He is replaying his trauma with Batman. He doesn't want to kill Batman. He wants to break Batman and laugh at the wreckage as evidence that he was right - everyone will eventually react to his trauma in the same way he did. Clowns feel inferior when we don't react how they want us to, because they fell for it as children somehow, and are stuck in that phase throughout their life. It mystifies them when we choose better, and the only one laughing at the jokes, is the clown.
Yo the best way that I've found to deal with a narcissist is to use their own games against them. I didn't say anything. I gave the silent treatment as I did what I needed to do to get away. She screamed, ranted, pleaded, begged, everything. Be better at that game but have a reason rather than enjoyment.
I did the same to my ex Osiris Lester he thought he could emotionally manipulate me just to use me for sex while he was already in a serious relationship that I had no idea about he wanted an open relationship I gave just that to him he didn’t like that one bit but idc you don’t get to do people wrong and use them then expect them to give you loyalty that’s insanity

Exactly. A lot of children do this same thing, and our parents tell us to ignore it. As we all mature, fewer and fewer people taunt each other. Narcissists on the other hand never psychologically mature, and that takes many of us by surprise later in life. Especially when the narcissist has technically learned the healthy way to treat others, but only uses it to love-bomb and hoover. As mature people we think everyone is trying their best to get along and respect each other, so we give second, third, fourth, and fifth chances when the narcissist starts to behave in a healthier fashion. Unfortunately, it is only temporary and the immaturity will appear again. Figuring out that a person's behavior follows that narcissistic pattern is the traumatizing part. The response is still the same... Ignore them and Avoid them.
They feed off of your reaction and sometimes lack of a reaction to survive. They feel horrible and want you to feel horrible about yourself (as they do). They can't survive without others' (be it negative or positive energy).

I have a coworker that likes me and at one point I liked him as well. I started picking up red flags and once I hung out with him outside of work; I told him I have no romantic feelings and that we should be friends. He did something to betray our friendship at work so I cut him off completely. Fast forward a few months later he gave me an orchid plant and some chocolates for my road trip. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful and was literally on a high. The very next day he started picking fights with me and we argued a few times during our shift. Mind you, all we've done is hugged a few times. I told him this is so unhealthy, why are we arguing and we aren't even in a relationship, he laughed. I said THIS ISN'T FUNNY. I told him you had me so happy yesterday and now you're doing this and it's messing with me mentally. He acted clueless. I blocked him and will never speak to him again, he literally ruined my night.
I worked in an office with 3 women that would perpetually gaslight, lie, and use plausible deniability to target me--commonly attempting to force me to argue under the guise of it being a genuine interaction, but actually a source of entertainment I refused to engage with. Part of this was to datamine me as they wanted to see how much I understood how their manipulation works. Long-story short, this is what happened: -The most antagonistic one's father passed away. She kept trying to get a negative emotional response from me, and instead, she ended up crying in front of me. -The second most antagonistic one's daughter had a stroke. -The third had abnormal chest scans implying cancer. I definitely think this was an acf of God.

I'm currently trying to break my 3 yr trauma bond. His behavior is beyond exhausting. Goes missing for days, don't respond to texts/calls, can't answer a simple yes or no question, try to change the topic, put words in your mouth, answer a question with a question, make everything about them. Always talking over you... Y'all know the list goes on and on. I must admit that I'm struggling because they sense when you're trying to break free and then they suck you right back in by being overly sweet. The cycle never ends. Prayers for any man or woman going through this❤️ It's oppressive and depressing.

That's a profound observation. Made me think of how the Joker is always goading Batman on about how they're the same somehow. Poking and prodding at his psyche, knowing they are both damaged, but Batman chose good instead of evil. He wants Batman to lose control and react violently in anger. Because even if Joker dies, then he would know that he had won the psychological battle by stripping Batman of his virtue and moral code, by making him do something against his good nature, something evil.
Like the Joker, they just want to destroy like a little kid toppling over a stack of blocks, or kicking the sandcastle made from someone else's hard work. They are clowns. Batman's calmness and sense of justice, unsettles Joker's madness and desire for chaos. He just can't believe Batman is for real. So he pushes his buttons, because he so deeply believes one of the buttons will cause a self-destruction, like what happened with him. He is replaying his trauma with Batman.
He doesn't want to kill Batman. He wants to break Batman and laugh at the wreckage as evidence that he was right - everyone will eventually react to his trauma in the same way he did. Clowns feel inferior when we don't react how they want us to, because they fell for it as children somehow, and are stuck in that phase throughout their life. It mystifies them when we choose better, and the only one laughing at the jokes, is the clown.

Yo the best way that I've found to deal with a narcissist is to use their own games against them. I didn't say anything. I gave the silent treatment as I did what I needed to do to get away. She screamed, ranted, pleaded, begged, everything. Be better at that game but have a reason rather than enjoyment.
I did the same to my ex Osiris Lester he thought he could emotionally manipulate me just to use me for sex while he was already in a serious relationship that I had no idea about he wanted an open relationship I gave just that to him he didn’t like that one bit but idc you don’t get to do people wrong and use them then expect them to give you loyalty that’s insanity

I so appreciate this! Got a narc "friend" in my life who's just jonesin' for me to discuss her recent unwarranted and disrespectful comments to me AFTER I helped her out financially! You're right, there's nothing she'd like better, but I am going no contact instead and she can continue playing the "I don't understand why you're doing this game," while knowing all along what she's done and continuing to do.
"jonesin'' is the perfect word and hit me like a ton of bricks...thank you! it's a term I will tattoo in my mind to remind me when it starts to happen that a fix is what the narcissist is looking for and I can either stop it or engage and end up exhausted hours later...this is freeing to my soul.

Narcissists on the other hand never psychologically mature, and that takes many of us by surprise later in life. Especially when the narcissist has technically learned the healthy way to treat others, but only uses it to love-bomb and hoover.
As mature people we think everyone is trying their best to get along and respect each other, so we give second, third, fourth, and fifth chances when the narcissist starts to behave in a healthier fashion. Unfortunately, it is only temporary and the immaturity will appear again.
Figuring out that a person's behavior follows that narcissistic pattern is the traumatizing part.
The response is still the same... Ignore them and Avoid them.

I have a coworker that likes me and at one point I liked him as well. I started picking up red flags and once I hung out with him outside of work; I told him I have no romantic feelings and that we should be friends. He did something to betray our friendship at work so I cut him off completely. Fast forward a few months later he gave me an orchid plant and some chocolates for my road trip. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful and was literally on a high. The very next day he started picking fights with me and we argued a few times during our shift. Mind you, all we've done is hugged a few times. I told him this is so unhealthy, why are we arguing and we aren't even in a relationship, he laughed. I said THIS ISN'T FUNNY. I told him you had me so happy yesterday and now you're doing this and it's messing with me mentally. He acted clueless. I blocked him and will never speak to him again, he literally ruined my night.

I worked in an office with 3 women that would perpetually gaslight, lie, and use plausible deniability to target me--commonly attempting to force me to argue under the guise of it being a genuine interaction, but actually a source of entertainment I refused to engage with. Part of this was to datamine me as they wanted to see how much I understood how their manipulation works. Long-story short, this is what happened:
-The most antagonistic one's father passed away. She kept trying to get a negative emotional response from me, and instead, she ended up crying in front of me.
-The second most antagonistic one's daughter had a stroke.
-The third had abnormal chest scans implying cancer.
I definitely think this was an acf of God.

YES! You are the FIRST to say what was really going on. She was cheating, started a fight over nothing and then asked for a break so she could check out her new, Supply during no contact. I found out. Then she blamed it ALL on me. It was all my fault.
Odd…..because during the fight, I saw her mask drop, I saw her true face, and it scared the hell out of me.
