Kevin I think using the Civilisation or town map mode on for most of the time is best because that way we can see the nations that get destroyed and the wars and chaos that your natural disasters cause. It makes the destruction of humanity far more immersive

3:44 Its actually highly appropriate to hit the ocean with earthquakes to simulate any of the many pacific island nations getting attacked, tho in a backwards kinda way. Earthquakes (tho moreso volcanos; which are often formed as a result of the effects of those earthquakes and the shifting tectonic plates ovr very long periods of time) are a large part of why those pacific islands exist nowadays. Natural disasters like those are a constant threat to those nations but theyre also a thing that can often be "worshipped/revered" as those same natural diaasters are usually part of their creation mythos (bcuz like i said, those islands were actually created by natural disasters after all) and often personified as a good or neutral aligned being as opposed to the evilness with which many of the more inland continental religions view natural disaster myths.
Its amazing how much religion is rly just looking to explain science that isnt yet understood; a common example of that being that pigs are considered "unclean" bcuz of religious decrees which were a result no doubt of folks noticing sickness followed pork foods more often than others (when ill prepared and when talking subsistence farm living as opposed to industrialized farming; pork products generally are more likely to become a health risk, esp if left out in the elements as wud often happen in early social groups). Notably tho the western continent religions took a different approach to pig and instd found how to prepare it in ways that grtly decreased the risk of illness; and as such their religions nvr considered pork to be unclean. One of those methods is to effectively burn the whole pig completely; then to remove the burnt exterior and consume the interior. Effectively they were assuring that the meat interior got to well in excess of 165f assuring that any pathogens wud be destroyed in the process of cooking it. This was also often done as part of a ritual or large feast for many families, which ofc wud also help to assure there was rarely excess leftover that cud become infected. If this practice were to be done in similar ways to how meat cooking stalls in many eastern continent regions then that pig wud likely be stuck out in hot or wet weather for hours on end, both before processing it and before cooking it. And unlike the much more preferred beef (which the western continent didnt have as their buffalo were not nearly as easily domesticated as our aurochsen and muffalo (from which we get the modern ox & all bovine, as well as all sheep from the latter one), pork doesnt rly change much when fully cooked as opposed to partially cooked to show that it is safe to eat (and the interior gers infected far easier than beef which is often safe to eat even raw on the inside if the interior hasnt been exposed to the air prior to cooking).
