absolutely amazing, if you get the chance you should go railfanning with that microphone, there are basically no good videos with this good of an audio experience
@@Militarwizard I would have to travel to Columbia, South Carolina to catch an Amtrak...…..they don't run thru Augusta, but it would highly be worth the trip.
Awesome share...and as the others noted AMAZING sound quality!! That F-150 almost bought it @10:04. The heedless stupidity of some people is really mind-boggling. That GE ES40DC is a beast, and (GE)VOlution from the venerable Dash 9's - that's a heavy haul it had behind it when you consider the weight of those logs
Thanks! I appreciate I.D.ing the unit, that way I can add it in the video title. I'm still learning the different locomotive types. And yes, those cars are playing with fire, knowing these beasts can't exactly stop on a dime.
Took me a while to realize the audio channels are reversed in this video. Sounded great once I flipped my headphones around backwards though. Really cool to have binaural audio on a train video!
This would be GEVO GE Evolution Series. The ES44DC from Norfolk Southern doesn't use V16 Version of engines. Meaning this would be a V12, 7FDL12. The V16 Models would be the ES58ACi, and the ES59ACi in the European models.
All American Evolution series locomotives are fitted with the GEVO v12 prime mover with the exceptional of one CSX AC6000CW that was outfitted with a GEVO v16 Prime mover. Most if not all Export Evolution Series Locomotives are fitted with the 16 cylinder GEVO prime mover.
@@turbochargedtransit7241 I know this, CSX Rebuilt 1 AC6000CW with a 4600hp GEVO16. All other AC6000’s retained their HDL’s that I know of with the exception of UP’s AC4460’s which were equipped with I think 7FDL16Y9’s.
Very good video. 👍No apology necessary. What spoiled the shots after you were panning the camera cars were interfering with your shots & disregarding the other photographer & his shots at this local freight of Norfolk Southern. Thank you for presenting this. 👋👋👋👋👋✅🎥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@CPAlburtisRailroader all units are upgraded to 4,400 horsepower between 2013 and 2014. They’re ES44DC’s now, although most of them still have their ES-40DC classification on their cab. So at the time it was recorded, it was an ES44DC.
Fantastic! I just purchased an AKG Lyra USB microphone, at some point I'd love to go use it on the BNSF yard or Union Pacific yard here locally, you could definitely get some great up close engine recordings and great train ambience! The possibilities are endless. It's a single microphone that records and wide stereo and true stereo. But with your setup, you could get one of the best audio recordings, say if one of these firing up. You'd have an up close recording inside the engine compartment, , as well as a straight up good old exhaust recording! That's the beauty of having a multi mic setup.
I live in Everett Washington and there's train tracks just down the road from my house. I walk down there a lot and when I hear a train coming I think Oooh! I have to go look at the Engine!😍I get up there close so I can hear the idling.. I love giant heavy machinery.
9:24 I love that train horn. Maybe I can add it into my Trackmaster Thomas and Friends train by making the train video on iMovie. Greetings from Alabama.
Yeah, I know......these mics are too sensitive on the bass/low side, and shortly after I videoed this, I purchased a low frequency control module that connects between the camera and mic setup, to take out some of the low frequency and overdrive.
@@JishyFishy4106 well yes, but actually no. NS ordered theirs as ES40DCs but all have since been beefed up to 4400 HP. Though there now technically ES44DCs, most kept their ES40DC markings
