There's absolutely no argument for why it should've gone to Reaper. From Ram's lore to his abilities and the rotation, it was quite literally the only correct choice.
Is the reaper mythic top tier? Absolutely. Could they have easily used the same concept for ram? 10000%. The sand effect? Ram literally has a particle effect he throws out and emits particles when he ults. The colors could have been the same. The armor essentially the same. I just don’t get it.

I know I'm an ow2 player but my worst mode for me is control and the best is push I know most people hate it for some reason but I kinda like it My full list goes like this 1-push very fun 2-clash I love the fast paced style it really stimulates by gold brain 3-flashpoint I really like it now that's it's not a walking simulator for zen 4-push it would've been 3 if it wasn't for some maps 5-hybrid meh it's just push in my eyes but I hate kings row 6-capture I love every map I just don't like how I get rolled in this one specific game mode
It makes sense though. Firstly, Ramatta was created by the rogue ai Anubis and kind of hates Anubis. Second, Anubis in Egyptian Mythology is the god of funerals and judging the dead. He's basically the grim reaper of Egypt. So I can see how it fits with Reaper.
Thing is reaper is more of a typical reaper, in that he harvests the souls of the dead, as seen in his old passive. Anubis doesn't take the lives of people, only judges them once they are already dead.
Imo, it does have something to do with it for the sole reason of inspiration and motivation If the art team had a eureka moment with anubis+reaper, and thatms what made the design so good, then i’ll take it. There’s no telling that the rammatra skin could have been as good. It might have been as bad as the hanzo mythic, who knows.
The Reaper skin is great but all the special effects included in it could easily be transferred to a Ramattra skin. Not to mention that Reaper has a ton more skins than Ram, including many other fantastic mythic-rivalling skins like Chained King, Luchador, Masquerade, Pumpkin, or any of his Overwatch 2 legendaries. Ram's only great skins are Diesel Baron, Poseidon, and Megatron.

the reaper skin is good but like the actual customization is just an upgrade from the last one, meaning you need to have it lvl 4 to make it a mythic when most other you can use all lvl one stuff and still make it look like a mythic
Anubis Ram legend skin would've gone just as hard as the reaper one if not more. They could've done some type of miniature sandstorm for his ult and he could've been throwing sand hands at your face. His blocking mechanic could've been cool too if they made sand rise from the floor to block the damage. It would've been glorious.
Ok but you really can’t say there is a best Mythic skin, in terms of taste everyone likes different things, the Ana mythic for example is probably one of my favorites, and Reaper’s "combinations" are just stages. The last piece of armor is objectively better than the others since they’re all the same with more on top
prefferable not. dont forget dps is the biggest role. doubling up on the other roles just mean we will have have numerous seasons of back to dps mythics. which i lowkey dont want

The addition of clash made me realise that flashpoint really is nowhere near as bad as I first thought when it released. Unlike clash and push, its fairly balanced for both teams at all times, regardless of who is winning or losing. It doesn't result in unnecessarily long games like escort or hybrid can do in certain scenarios, especially if one team runs away with it. The maps are designed so that excessively long sightlines are almost never a problem so widow isnt forced. I'd say its like 3rd best gamemode tbh. People just hated it when it was new because it was new
People say that the rotation was support dps tank but it was changed when the Moira mythic released because right after her mythic then we got mercy then Ashe then reaper meaning we will most likely get 2 tank mythic skins back to back
Escort matches on average take double the time to complete compared to every other gamemode in the comp pool. I have a hard time understanding the mindset of people who genuinely enjoy each game taking almost a half hour to complete, it's insane. The map design itself is really good but the whole "Each team has to do a full round of attack/defense!" Gimmick leads to matches that I feel are unnecessarily long and drawn out.
honestly i think flashpoint is really fun. this is coming from a lucio player with only a hundred or so hours in overwatch 1 but still i think it’s a gamemode that is designed well for overwatch 2’s playstyle
Spam is just how the characters are designed to function. Yea, there are different types of spam in the fact that one person is just shooting at everything like they saw a spider on the wall and the other is spamming the chokepoint but it's still spam.

They made the Reaper skin really good to make up for everything else they’ve done. Like breaking rotation of mythic skins, no new skins for new characters. Etc. I would have loved to see what Anubus Ram looked like too, even if I’m stuck playing support
Idk I feel like the “rotation” was just a coincidence and literally makes no sense because the dps role being so much bigger we will just get season after season after season of dps mythics because they ran out of the other roles

After Blizzard explained that reaper was given the mythic as anubis, I understood. Reaper getting the mythic from the God of Death, makes a lot of sense. Rammatra needs love though, he can still have an anubis legendary that would go HARD. Widow's mythic, I think its a great skin, I think she's really pretty and I like the colors. But Ange De La Mort is her best skin by far. She has many great skins, but that one is just *chefs kiss*. If reaper got anubis, widow should've gotten something spider themed at least. She has so much potential and she got that. I love it still and I will wear it a lot, but Ange De La Mort is better. That is why I'm slightly disappointed. Plus, tanks should've gotten a mythic. Orisa got the last tank mythic and we all know thats one of if not her worst skin. Season 14 better be a tank mythic, cause it will be a YEAR since the last.
7:01 Moira's mythic being the best mythic is perfectly compatible with her mythic not being her best skin. It just means she has a Legendary that is better than every mythic. Not saying that's my opinion- just pointing out how it's logically possible.
I will always say Control is unequivocally the best mode in the game by far and I’d play an insane amount of competitive if they put a competitive mode of JUST Control. It easily has the most balanced gameplay, the most amount of viable team comps, no matter what hero you main at least one of the three locations per map will allow you to play it well so you’ll almost never find a control match where you can’t use your main for at least part of it, the least run back or waiting for regroups so you can actually play the game the most out of all the modes, easily some of the best maps in the game, the fact each “map” is actually three maps means even in a single match there’s good map variety to keep it feeling fresh, the game mode inherently pushes players to play more actively and aggressively, by design of the mode having an objective point it means basically any map you can successfully play a close range hero but by map design most maps also allow you to play medium or long range heroes so you’re not typically forced into ONLY playing range or ONLY playing close quarters, it’s arguably the best mode for tanks because by the design of the mode it generally gives tanks the opening to DO stuff more than modes like Escort or Push, the fact that each round changes maps and each map is relatively symmetric means it prevents snowballing from happening for any reason other than simply being outplayed, up until the last few seconds it never really feels like a lost cause to keep trying because you can always take the point back and win the round and go into a fresh round, and the matches feel like the perfect length where they aren’t over basically instantly but also don’t drag out. I will always Stan control as the best part of the game by FAR.
It’s just not the best mythic, it’s a progressional mythic where most ppl are going to use the final option and not only that but it also only has one set of weapons. Sigma and Moira are leagues ahead of Reaper’s.
I still have a theory that Juno was gonna get a skin in this battle pass but they decided against it because they knew people would raise hell about Juno getting a skin before Venture
I agree that the reaper mythic is the best mythic but what says that ramattra wouldn’t look just as cool as reaper, given the chance. They could have had the reaper sandstorm ultimate with music playing as ramattras ultimate, no? Sandstorm vortex? Reapers smoke effect from his pellets hitting on ramattras primary and sand fists or some sort of Anubis/Egypt themed effect shooting out from his fists in nemesis form. Reaper mythic is the best mythic but imagine that quality on ramattra and tell me that it wouldn’t be as good.
i dunno, the anubis stuff makes sense with the evil characters due to the OW lore and comics (Anubis, the one in the actual map, was an AI that turned all the omnics evil, which led to talon forming, who specifically fights against those trying to have unity between omnics and humans). Reaper anubis means that he's taking up the mantle, which is really good lorewise
its an anubis skin, the god of the dead. Ram and Pharah have relations to egypt but reaper is literally designed and built around the concept of death. Its basically do you want someone with lore tied to egypt to get the skin for the god of death, or the character whose whole theme and abilities revolve around death

I'm an OW 2 player, and while I can understand some of the complaints about some escort and hybrid maps, escort is probably the best mode. IMO Push, Flashpoint, and Clash are the worst.
I still will never forgive blizzard for blowing loads on hanzos mythic because it “took too long” to make mythic with that much detail. Then every single mythic after that gave plenty of options. Yea not all of them were good but at least they ALL had extra options. Blizzard hates hanzo with a passion and it’s unbearable
My Gamemode tier-list: 1. Hybrid (not because it's the best gamemode but because these are my favorite maps = KingsRow, Eichenwalde, Paraiso, Hollywood, I don't mind Numbani too) 2. Clash (Is fun and feels balanced) 3. Flashpoint (I don't mind it) 4. Escort (by far the worst maps in the roaster = Casino, Junkertown 1st CP, Dorado, Havana, etc. All just shitty ass sniper maps) 5. Control (some maps are fun but most of them are toxic and choke-point-ish) 6. Push (unbalanced, first teamfight is the most important, it's dumb)
"Reaper" getting the "God of Death" Anubis skin is far from the worst even though I wanted the jackal faced Rammatra but hey, maybe we get something better for Rammatra. I think the sole reason Flats thinks this one is the best is because they are figuring out the color matching and whatnot, they should be cooking hard in the future (Or they make more Kiriko and Mercy skins and sell them for 2300 coins in the shop while recoloring skins for others and maybe fit Junk or Hog in with the Kiri Mercy skins...).
Ok, but Ram could be Anubis Reaper's father, Set. Then the timeline gets fixed. Also, venture should absolutely have skins based off of historical explorers like Amelia Earhart
6:00 Ramattra needs an Anubis legendary. Not a mythic. A mythic is supposed to explore different themes with heroes outside their archetype. An Anubis Ramattra skin would have been a bit pseudo-canon and also... a little lazy. It fits Reaper. He's got a proper stature and shape for it. They did really creative things with the mask area that would not have fit too well with Ramattra.
There's still a whole Egyptian pantheon for Rammatra's mythic. Everybody calm down. Anubis is the god of death and the afterlife, so it makes sense that it goes to Reaper. I think if they do make an Egyptian mythic for Ram it should be themed around Set, the god of chaos who is also tied to the desert (sandstorm effect)
Honestly, I agree with that guy complaining about the curent season, I do love the mythic, but am a little anoyed that they screwed up the rotation. But the skin take, like comon, we didnt need another genji and mercy skin for the shop, and we need more skins for heros that dont have any. Love the Illiari and ehco skin tho, those fit so well with the consept and the types of gods.

Yes they cooked with reaper but it is so unfair to compare an idea with a final model, yes the skin is amazing... BUT SO WOULD HAVE RAMMATTRAS I am not mad they chose Reaper but I would have preferred Ram. Also i dislike the Reaper mythics customization cause it gets better with every level, i have not seen a single person prefer the unarmoured look.
I was about to say, I hard disagree with that they cooked. They cooked with Genji, Ana, Sigma and Kiri, cause all those skins had customization to it that you can pick a distinct look for that is radically different from the other looks, but still REALLY good no matter what option you pick. With Reaper, you have literally 1 option to get the full good look, with the only real difference being your mask of choice. There's is a single full effect only with the maxed out mythic, with your armor choices being do you wanna be plain looking or look cool?

But if the standard is that high, why did Ramattra simply not get the mythic skin? Reapers being cool means NOTHING to the fact Ramattra should've earned the mythic instead and it should've been JUST AS COOL! I have a hard time understanding the mindset of people who genuinely enjoy each game taking almost a half hour to complete, it's insane. The map design itself is really good but the whole "Each team has to do a full round of attack/defense!" Gimmick leads to matches that I feel are unnecessarily long and drawn out.
A good Hanzo knows when to spam and when to be precise.
I actually really like flashpoint, it feels like control but with more interesting ult economy.
honestly i think flashpoint is really fun. this is coming from a lucio player with only a hundred or so hours in overwatch 1 but still i think it’s a gamemode that is designed well for overwatch 2’s playstyle

Spam is just how the characters are designed to function. Yea, there are different types of spam in the fact that one person is just shooting at everything like they saw a spider on the wall and the other is spamming the chokepoint but it's still spam.

They made the Reaper skin really good to make up for everything else they’ve done. Like breaking rotation of mythic skins, no new skins for new characters. Etc. I would have loved to see what Anubus Ram looked like too, even if I’m stuck playing support
Idk I feel like the “rotation” was just a coincidence and literally makes no sense because the dps role being so much bigger we will just get season after season after season of dps mythics because they ran out of the other roles

After Blizzard explained that reaper was given the mythic as anubis, I understood. Reaper getting the mythic from the God of Death, makes a lot of sense. Rammatra needs love though, he can still have an anubis legendary that would go HARD.
Widow's mythic, I think its a great skin, I think she's really pretty and I like the colors. But Ange De La Mort is her best skin by far. She has many great skins, but that one is just *chefs kiss*. If reaper got anubis, widow should've gotten something spider themed at least. She has so much potential and she got that. I love it still and I will wear it a lot, but Ange De La Mort is better. That is why I'm slightly disappointed.
Plus, tanks should've gotten a mythic. Orisa got the last tank mythic and we all know thats one of if not her worst skin. Season 14 better be a tank mythic, cause it will be a YEAR since the last.

I will always say Control is unequivocally the best mode in the game by far and I’d play an insane amount of competitive if they put a competitive mode of JUST Control.
It easily has the most balanced gameplay, the most amount of viable team comps, no matter what hero you main at least one of the three locations per map will allow you to play it well so you’ll almost never find a control match where you can’t use your main for at least part of it, the least run back or waiting for regroups so you can actually play the game the most out of all the modes, easily some of the best maps in the game, the fact each “map” is actually three maps means even in a single match there’s good map variety to keep it feeling fresh, the game mode inherently pushes players to play more actively and aggressively, by design of the mode having an objective point it means basically any map you can successfully play a close range hero but by map design most maps also allow you to play medium or long range heroes so you’re not typically forced into ONLY playing range or ONLY playing close quarters, it’s arguably the best mode for tanks because by the design of the mode it generally gives tanks the opening to DO stuff more than modes like Escort or Push, the fact that each round changes maps and each map is relatively symmetric means it prevents snowballing from happening for any reason other than simply being outplayed, up until the last few seconds it never really feels like a lost cause to keep trying because you can always take the point back and win the round and go into a fresh round, and the matches feel like the perfect length where they aren’t over basically instantly but also don’t drag out.
I will always Stan control as the best part of the game by FAR.
It’s just not the best mythic, it’s a progressional mythic where most ppl are going to use the final option and not only that but it also only has one set of weapons. Sigma and Moira are leagues ahead of Reaper’s.

I agree that the reaper mythic is the best mythic but what says that ramattra wouldn’t look just as cool as reaper, given the chance. They could have had the reaper sandstorm ultimate with music playing as ramattras ultimate, no? Sandstorm vortex? Reapers smoke effect from his pellets hitting on ramattras primary and sand fists or some sort of Anubis/Egypt themed effect shooting out from his fists in nemesis form.

i dunno, the anubis stuff makes sense with the evil characters due to the OW lore and comics (Anubis, the one in the actual map, was an AI that turned all the omnics evil, which led to talon forming, who specifically fights against those trying to have unity between omnics and humans). Reaper anubis means that he's taking up the mantle, which is really good lorewise
its an anubis skin, the god of the dead. Ram and Pharah have relations to egypt but reaper is literally designed and built around the concept of death. Its basically do you want someone with lore tied to egypt to get the skin for the god of death, or the character whose whole theme and abilities revolve around death

I'm an OW 2 player, and while I can understand some of the complaints about some escort and hybrid maps, escort is probably the best mode. IMO Push, Flashpoint, and Clash are the worst.

I still will never forgive blizzard for blowing loads on hanzos mythic because it “took too long” to make mythic with that much detail. Then every single mythic after that gave plenty of options. Yea not all of them were good but at least they ALL had extra options. Blizzard hates hanzo with a passion and it’s unbearable
My Gamemode tier-list:
1. Hybrid (not because it's the best gamemode but because these are my favorite maps = KingsRow, Eichenwalde, Paraiso, Hollywood, I don't mind Numbani too)
2. Clash (Is fun and feels balanced)
3. Flashpoint (I don't mind it)
4. Escort (by far the worst maps in the roaster = Casino, Junkertown 1st CP, Dorado, Havana, etc. All just shitty ass sniper maps)
5. Control (some maps are fun but most of them are toxic and choke-point-ish)
6. Push (unbalanced, first teamfight is the most important, it's dumb)

"Reaper" getting the "God of Death" Anubis skin is far from the worst even though I wanted the jackal faced Rammatra but hey, maybe we get something better for Rammatra. I think the sole reason Flats thinks this one is the best is because they are figuring out the color matching and whatnot, they should be cooking hard in the future (Or they make more Kiriko and Mercy skins and sell them for 2300 coins in the shop while recoloring skins for others and maybe fit Junk or Hog in with the Kiri Mercy skins...).

Ramattra needs an Anubis legendary. Not a mythic. A mythic is supposed to explore different themes with heroes outside their archetype. An Anubis Ramattra skin would have been a bit pseudo-canon and also... a little lazy.
It fits Reaper. He's got a proper stature and shape for it. They did really creative things with the mask area that would not have fit too well with Ramattra.

There's still a whole Egyptian pantheon for Rammatra's mythic. Everybody calm down. Anubis is the god of death and the afterlife, so it makes sense that it goes to Reaper. I think if they do make an Egyptian mythic for Ram it should be themed around Set, the god of chaos who is also tied to the desert (sandstorm effect)

Honestly, I agree with that guy complaining about the curent season, I do love the mythic, but am a little anoyed that they screwed up the rotation.
But the skin take, like comon, we didnt need another genji and mercy skin for the shop, and we need more skins for heros that dont have any.
Love the Illiari and ehco skin tho, those fit so well with the consept and the types of gods.

Yes they cooked with reaper but it is so unfair to compare an idea with a final model, yes the skin is amazing... BUT SO WOULD HAVE RAMMATTRAS I am not mad they chose Reaper but I would have preferred Ram. Also i dislike the Reaper mythics customization cause it gets better with every level, i have not seen a single person prefer the unarmoured look.
I was about to say, I hard disagree with that they cooked. They cooked with Genji, Ana, Sigma and Kiri, cause all those skins had customization to it that you can pick a distinct look for that is radically different from the other looks, but still REALLY good no matter what option you pick. With Reaper, you have literally 1 option to get the full good look, with the only real difference being your mask of choice. There's is a single full effect only with the maxed out mythic, with your armor choices being do you wanna be plain looking or look cool?

Honestly kinda true though that escort has a lot of stinky maps. Push and clash are definitely still worse but imo flashpoint is over hated and I’d put it above escort.
I rank escort lower especially the maps where the cart is right outside spawn because it just becomes a spawn camping simulator

Yeah I just have to agree with the others in the comments. Reaper's Mythic being fantastic is great, all Mythics should be held to that standard. But if the standard is that high, why did Ramattra simply not get the mythic skin? Reapers being cool means NOTHING to the fact Ramattra should've earned the mythic instead and it should've been JUST AS COOL!
Like the facts are the same, and Reaper should've NOT earned the mythic skin, no matter how cool it looks.
