How do ghosts know which radio waves they need to make so they are then interpreted as words? Cause we just kinda decided on what meant hello and what meant nerd. So how do ghosts know? There is a common superstition within the theatre that every theatre building houses a ghost. It is tradition to always leave one light on in the theatre, called a "ghostlight", that gives the ghost an oppertunity to perform when the living people leave.
From what i’ve heard, the ghostlight is moreso metaphorical than a literal light for ghosts. It’s to represent the fact that the theatre is always alive, so the ghostlight is to keep the stage alive with light (if there’s more than one stage there is usually more than one light, as in one per stage)
@@Kinobambino the ‘figure’ i assume you’re talking about is a model/mannequin in the nursery room, you can see it in the back at about 27 minutes in too. no apparitions here unfortunately 😅

one of the things i REALLY appreciate about the editing of ghost files compared to the old series is that the over the top “creepy” music/ambient sound effects got toned way down. in the buzzfeed series they were so loud i found it hard to hear the recorded audio/dialogue, and sometimes even physically painful. the sound design adds a lot to this show, and i really appreciate that you guys moved in a more accessible direction 😊

@@notmidgehadley4279 Yeah it got quiet in the way that it does when it's picking up words. It also seemed like Shane and Ryan kept talking over when it was trying to speak which would explain the "Shut Up". Thought I heard a very sad "Just Go" at the end there too, which is heartwrenching with how chipper the "Hi" was (assuming we're taking this at face value)
During their solo times, when Ryan walks through the house alone and Shane directs his actions, sometimes it feels like Ryan is undergoing a very intense exposure therapy lol
Before the episode started, I explained the premise of the show to my husband and asked him which one he thought believed in ghosts and he chose Shane with zero hesitation. I died when they started talking about how Shane looks like he's the one who believes in ghosts. 💀
I wonder if the voice saying “leave” in the courtroom lines up time wise with when you were in Violet’s room and Shane said “If you want us to leave, just say so.”
Court room: Snakes scare horses. Maybe they pulled a prank and their sister got hurt and died. The baby's room when the device answered "slain. nod" is the first time I think I've seen Shane get actually creeped out, lol. Loved how Shane's performance of Hamlet was as a Dalek, for some reason.
For #debrief I would suggest that in future episodes, instead of just taking photos for the guest's re-enactment, maybe Shane and Ryan should take more photos of their own to aid their investigation. Like going around in each room and keep randomly snapping shots around the room. Who knows if they capture an apparition photo of their own?
I also really like it when investigators actually see if they can replicate the photo with different angles, flash or no flash, different poses (kind of what Shane was doing actually). I think it adds to the authenticity-or lack there of.
Hard to see but to the right shoulder of Ryan. There looks to a be full body apparition. You can see it next to the drawer, its quite tall. You make out a head, shirt and pants. 49:30 (Better visibility on a bigger screen and on HD)
@@lauranight4572 I guess we need to try to snapping many pictures when they're doing solo investigation. Idk, I just feel 'they' will be annoyed with all those flashes
Has anyone noticed that Ryan is wearing an Egyptian cartouche necklace? It’s supposed to protect the wearer from harm. I think it’s a really neat detail
The part with violet just drives me crazy it truly just sounds as if she was trying to speak and was interrupted by a man that told her to shut up and they just stopped there WHAT- and the fact that there is a woman scream afterwards as if she was attacked that makes me feel so sad
exactly! it was definitely the most human-like voice they've heard on the Spirit Box so far! enough so that I was worried about her as she was trying to come through :(
As a person that has always been on the fence about ghosts, despite living in houses that were supposedly haunted, I will forever appreciate these two for presenting both sides of believer/non-believer, and in a fun way versus shows that take themselves way too seriously.
36:10 Shane claims he hears "Violet" but I clearly as day hear "Ryan." I'm actually a little disappointed Ryan didn't hear that because that was the clearest response the Spirit Box has ever given
The spirit box fading more and more until it was completely silent was honestly creepy. I have watched the Ghoul Boys for a long, long time and I have *never* seen it go completely silent before!
Maybe one on each of them to see if Shane’s reactions are actually a bit played down from his actual feelings/thoughts. Or if he’s just a bit of a psychopath and his heart rate stays low lol.
47:05 "as a child, I was never good at doing backwards somersaults because I had a real big tummy" that line was so funny LMAO please i can't stop laughing
19:40 i love how they’re like ryan: i don’t like this. shane: well. deal with it. but also ryan: (with extreme urgency) can u come up here i’m not investigating this by myself shane: (without thinking) ok
I've just got to say I don't think the boys get enough recognition for the production value of these videos. These could easily be aired on tv. The part with the blueprints of the buildings and explanations of where they're going/setting up equipment impresses me every time. It's incredible how much this series has grown and improved over time.
26:02 the fact that the words were “rapture“ and “release“ and the pages talked about smallpox which was a very deadly disease is very compelling honestly! And the fact that before it said “page” which led to the book in the first place….
@@lindadenneypu6315 Don't be silly. Shane doesn't believe in dragons, but he WILL help Ryan look for one and be equal parts supportive and abusive while doing so.
I wish they did more in Violet's room. That seemed like a missed opportunity to use more of the tools to communicate since she seemed very willing. I've never heard such a clear name that was relevant to the spirit come out of there, like she actually introduced herself and said hi. Also the honey tone going quiet, the 'shut up' and a distressed woman's voice at 38:40 kind of seemed like a man was trying to stop her from communicating. A lot of activity sort of looked over.
100% agreed! I'd really like to see someone trying to communicate with Violet - a girl, maybe. It sounded like she was really trying to communicate but it was hard.
they DO stay long in those places. they cut out pretty much anything where theres no activity or its just boring. otherwise the video would be hours long probably.
@@Advelins I know they edit out boring footage and they're in there for longer than we see, but that's not what I mean. They only used the spirit box/honey tone in that room because they spread out the tools to use in different areas, but because Violet seemed to be active and willing to communicate, I wish they had tried some of the other devices to see if they could have been more successful instead of only using the spirit box.
I appreciate that ryan sings during every solo investigation because whenever I'm scared or I'm in a dark spooky place by myself i sing my thoughts or talk outload to make it less spooky
That part was creepy but Shane tends to seem like he wants to keep the show moving. You can tell he gets antsy standing around and waiting for evidence to occur. Plus, he said that the crew was tired. I think he probably figured that that was enough evidence for that room and was ready to move one. It was definitely super creepy tho, and I think the most cohesive conversation the ovilus has offered. Gave me chills.
Idk if some of y'all are just bad at listening or what but do you remember when Shane said he tries to play along with Ryan during the investigations because he didn't want to ruin the spook for Ryan? Did you not hear the part where he said "while we're alone I can level with ya" and "everyone just wants to go home" ? Like pepper pointed out he was clearly getting bored lmao jesus Christ I'm not sure if people are really gullible, bad at listening, or just kinda dim at this point
Also if you look closer on the blueprint plan thingie at the beginning of the video you could see that Ryan's stand-in circle is much smaller than Shane's ;D
The *slain* and *nod* from the ovilus after Shane was genuinely compassionate was the most compelling evidence I’ve seen or just the biggest coincidence. Great haunt boys!
either Shane is becoming a believer or he is overworked and sleep deprived because in this episode he seemed actually spooked many times. I hope he is good
In violet’s room, after the spirit box turned off, the “shut up” seemed to be the beginning of a violent confrontation between a man and a woman. You can then hear the woman crying out loudly, as if being hit. And then you can hear a quiet sob. Heartbreaking
@@RumblyGLShe literally said "it seemed like" which I can agree on because the "shut up" came from a male voice and the "screams" came from a woman. Of course it could be nothing but it is very easy to interpret it this way. Plus back in the day there was a lot of domestic abuse from men. Chill. It ain't that deep.
As someone that works with compass’s often I’m going to let you know that using one inside (especially in old buildings) will always lead to it spinning randomly due to all the metal in the walls throwing off the magnetic pull. Also holding it next to any of your other equipment will do the same thing.
Honestly, when you were using the honey tone in Violet's room, after you said, "My name is Ryan," the voice that responded sounded more like it repeated "Ryan" rather than saying "Violet"
Clucky If we're really going into the whole ghost debate, there's been nothing that has truly proved nor disproved the existence of them. Everything they've found thus far can have logical/scientific reasoning but it could be the work of some supernatural being and we'd be none the wiser. Don't gotta believe but don't try to rain on people's parades man. I'm not the hugest ghost believer but even i don't like doing that. Suspend some disbelief once in a while, its pretty fun :DD
I love how Shane said “snake tester”, a weird but mostly innocuous phrase, and Ryan immediately interpreted that as the ghost declaring that he had sex with a snake
It really wasn’t that clear. I think some of the clearest so far would probably be “spaghetti apple taters” (a classic) or “do you hear that?” from the La Llorona episode. There have been a few fun ones from this new show too I think, just can’t recall off the top of my head at the moment. I’m not a believer, but I do thoroughly enjoy the insanity of the spirit box :)
maybe important to keep in mind: when you're visiting a place that has multiple spirits. when you use the spirit box. i dont think the spirits are waiting in line to say something. its very much possible youre speaking to multiple spirits at one time. It was kind of making sense what shane was saying. Like; Thief, Murder, Afraid. All random but makes sense when in a courtroom they would be saying things like that.
I was thinking they were pointing out what they were wrongly were accused for, thief and murder also the horse snake sister por favor could be that someones sister died after the horse got scared of a snake which made her fall off and died then a mexican/spanish guy was wrongly trialed for her supposed murder. Also possibly could be accused as a thief for trying to take her horse if it was just one guy communicating.

Ryan, completely serious and genuine: What are you jealous of?
I know it's to explain for the audience what the toys do, but I always find it hysterical when they're like "Turn on the maglite" and I can only imagine som late 1800's early 1900's ghost being like "what the fucks a maglite?"
Or Everytime they activate the spirit box I imagine them just being scared to go near it lol
On the other hand, if it was a modern ghost and they were like, "Turn on this little device here, it'll help you communicate with us," and the ghost is like, "That's a f$cking flashlight, I'm not talking to these idiots."
Honestly, that bit where Shane says a tiny "OK" (19:42) after Ryan asks him to come up bec he got spooked was a wholesome moment. Such a team.
That creaking was honestly spooky lol, really surprised Shane couldn't hear it because it seemed really loud on whatever mic picked it up.
ikr? i was thinking to myself: they fuck around but shane and ryan know one another and their boundaries so well. he didn't even hesitate.
Reminds me of that first time they (tried) to do a sleepover and Ryan got too spooked so he scooted over to Shane, "I'm sleeping closer to you, I don't care" and Shane just laughed and said "okay"
Honestly my favourite part of the episode - that warmed my heart!!
What episode was this? I need it!! 😳😳
The look on Ryan's face when he realizes Shane does, in fact, have the speech from Hamlet completely memorized.
lmaoo fr
i wasn’t expecting anything past the first two lines
it's like he doesn't know his best friend is a theater nerd 😂
There is a common superstition within the theatre that every theatre building houses a ghost. It is tradition to always leave one light on in the theatre, called a "ghostlight", that gives the ghost an oppertunity to perform when the living people leave.
That's actually super sweet. I love that
From what i’ve heard, the ghostlight is moreso metaphorical than a literal light for ghosts. It’s to represent the fact that the theatre is always alive, so the ghostlight is to keep the stage alive with light (if there’s more than one stage there is usually more than one light, as in one per stage)
honestly, i always wondered why its called a ghostlight. thats a fun explanation honestly
Ryan frantically asking Shane to come upstairs because he doesn't want to be alone is SO WHOLESOME I cannot

one of the things i REALLY appreciate about the editing of ghost files compared to the old series is that the over the top “creepy” music/ambient sound effects got toned way down. in the buzzfeed series they were so loud i found it hard to hear the recorded audio/dialogue, and sometimes even physically painful. the sound design adds a lot to this show, and i really appreciate that you guys moved in a more accessible direction 😊
At this point Ryan's reactions to the ghosts are getting scarier than the ghosts themselves
I chalk it up to the vibes of the place. I imagine being there is like 500 times as scary as watching
The way the Honey box just slowly became quiet was honestly really cool, but also so spooky.
Violet probably just got hurt by Shane's tone , we all know he isn't a ladies man and the fact she can't be with our himbo looking Ryan.

Kinda off topic but I’m so happy to see a Doctor Who enemy mentioned on one of the boys episodes. My two favorite things! 😂
He's losing his demonic powers
I think he was more freaked out to be standing in the room where an actual baby died. It’s sad to think about and also hard to joke about.
For #debrief
I would suggest that in future episodes, instead of just taking photos for the guest's re-enactment, maybe Shane and Ryan should take more photos of their own to aid their investigation. Like going around in each room and keep randomly snapping shots around the room. Who knows if they capture an apparition photo of their own?
Need to reply to their pinned comment for debrief questions
I mean, they are constantly snapping millions of photos (as that's what video is).
