I am so torn between the ghosts calling Shane “daddy“ as being the most compelling evidence the ghoul boys have captured or being called “nerds“ last season…
Shane's blonde hair and bright blue shirt in this episode are given the "This Ken ghost hunts!" vibe. I do think there needs to be a post on both of you guys, Ryan saying "This Ken believes in ghosts..." and Shane's "... and this Ken doesn't".
Ryan ignoring the mattress thing is the best proof that Ryan is getting way too numb for his own good. A psychotic killer could walk up on him and be like "im going to slice you up" and Ryan would just be like "hahaha, ya your gonna turn me into a ham sandwhich" and then just walk right past the psycho.
That part got me so good. He completely just ignored the fact that the device said “mattress” as soon as he approached it and instead was just “420 blaze it.” xD
I'm not gonna lie, the scariest things this ep are the faces Shane makes during the solo investigation, because the camera angle makes them terrifying.

The glowing eyes at 19:30 is 1000% a cat or racoon, the movement is so animal like and if you look really closely as the eyes go out of view you can make out a tail in the shadow
Yeah it's a racoon. You can even see it leaving the room in the next scene at 19:41, most likely making the noise they thought was talking. And then the next noise with a single ball of light at 20:00 is likely the racoon standing on it's hind legs and grabbing the hand rail to balance. That single ball of light is just one of its eyes (The other obscured by the rail most likely) as it stands to peer over the stairs. And the noise is made as it grabs the railing.

Would totally buy but would order in two size too big and only wear it around the house and to sleep because there are way too many creeps who would take that as a directive 😂😭
As a little tip for Shane -- if you tell someone to face Away from a dark room or hallway "until you feel a breath in your neck" they will eventually feel it and you will ruin their life. Light touch and ichiness are the easiest feelings to trick someone into.
Shane himself is the first to say that he isn’t even close to fearless. He truly doesn’t believe in ghosts, so in his mind there’s nothing to be afraid of at all.
@@colevinson5578 this is definitely an argument of semantics. Technically, yes… but when somebody says that a person is fearless, it’s generally understood that the unspoken part of that is that they’re fearless in situations where they perceive they are in danger. People wouldn’t call you fearless if you’re not scared when sitting at your house just chilling with people you trust. Yeah, you are absent of fear… but that’s not fearless. Shane has said that he gets really scared in situations where he perceives there’s danger. He just so deeply doesn’t believe in ghosts that he thinks there’s absolutely no threat. Thus, it’s not really about being fearless. He thinks he’s safe. If any part of him believed that ghosts were real, his whole demeanor would be different. None of which is a knock on either of the ghoul boys. I was just clarifying, because I thought OP calling Shane fearless had a slightly different connotation than the reality of the situation.
@@Zakemasterthere is a video of Shane hearing a scary noise in the waverly hills sanatorium from his unsolved days. He immediately up and flees, because while he doesn’t believe in ghosts, when there’s a horrifying screeching sound in the chute, he’s out because there’s something THERE that he doesn’t know that he wants to run from. Certainly not fearless. Certainly not afraid of ghosts.
@@ebybbob Ryan doesn't seem scared at all. He walks into a prison cell and the word mattress comes up. Which is super creepy. But he just laughs it off by talking about how much he likes blaze. Uh ok. Also his solo adventure he just walks around like Shane does now,
For anyone wondering, at 6:00 Ryans light is just flashing S.O.S. in Morse code. Plenty of flash lights have that feature, so no spooky mischief there!
Yes, my flashlight does that too. Each time you turn it on, it goes into a different mode: normal on, S.O.S mode. and strobing. I feel like they should have known that.
Absolutely! I've been suggesting this for years now... Shane's concern about losing wacthability because of Ryan's new "chill vines" would be completely wiped out. They could use something like polar watches...
can we appreciate how this episode was filmed last SEPTEMBER, they spend a whole year polishing the episodes for every season, thank you everyone in Watcher for your hard work
Maybe a little 2 polished now. The rawness of the old buzzfeed stuff had a more spooky vibe. Now with all the gadgets and walking around with a goofy helmet on while making jokes all the time. That is what is missing now Ryan has become Shayne. The Believer vs Skeptic dynamic is gone. Shane pretty much said it himself at 38:37.
Shane is genuinely impressive. Utterly fearless and unconcerned even in such horrific building. Really proud of Ryan though! Such great personal growth!
@39:00 so there was an inmate named "Firebug Johnson" known for trying to burn down the prison and you get "Mattress, blaze, material" when arguably mattresses were probably the most flamable thing available to him, and Ryan doesn't even bat an eye? I'm shocked!
yeah, even before they said that, i was so confused why ryan's mind went straight to like 420 blaze it ahaha and not like, idk, arson, which i feel like would've been significantly more common in ye olde worlde prisons
A person who goes into scary situations without fear is brave, a person who goes into scary situations even though they are scared is courage. Shane is brave, Ryan is courageous.
I believe the saying is- "A person who enters a dangerous situation without feeling fear is a fool. A person who feels fear yet still enters a dangerous situation is truly brave." I'd argue that these are dangerous situations, even if you don't believe in ghosts. Someone could be hiding in there with a weapon or I mean, stumbling around in the dark could lead to falling and getting hurt, especially when you're as tall as Shane.
@@pinkdarkman Oh, I wasn’t copying a saying, just stating when the words should be used. I’m sure many acts of bravery could be called stupid and they were lucky nothing bad happened, but that doesn’t make it not brave.
@@pinkdarkmanI'm pretty sure they've talked about the fact shane genuinely does have fear that there's gonna be a big animal or a violent person in there, which makes a lot of sense. bravery and stupidity to them both (said with love and affection, of course)

Hopefully, if there are structures like these in the season, they can use Google Earth and don't have to manually do the designs themselves.
As prior military, I wanted to point out the flashlight was doing SOS 6 minutes into the video - I assume that's a feature of the flashlight, but would be very interesting if the "strobe mode" Shane mentioned does not include SOS

Since none of the odd activity in my house has been malicious, I don't feel any reason to be scared. It's believed that the parents of the landlady are still here (activity picks up around their birthdays, their anniversary, and special holidays), as is the spirit of a fluffy white cat (which has been seen slipping around the banister and scooting downstairs...but the basement door has been closed and there's nothing down the stairs).
After the cat showed up early on (and that was 100% a cat, come on), EVERY SINGLE NOISE for the rest of the hunt just made me think of some poor loose cat RUNNING from these two yelling men following it all over the building. Absolutely priceless.
Shane arguing with Ryan about how he glossed over mattress to make a joke and didn’t get scared is proof that he’s a demon that derives pleasure from Ryan’s suffering
For Debrief: 25:15, After a little googling, the only person to be listed on the execution record for thievery in Missouri State Penitentiary was a man named William Edward Talbert. He tried to steal a truck with a few other people, and was executed on November 16th 1945.
Could be George Mercer, executed in 1989 for rape and murder, rape in a sense is taking something from someone and the light did turn on when Shane said murder
As a previously employed correctional officer that worked the night shift in a prison I do have one particular moment that was not so fun to go through. It was on my night shift in Bravo 3. After the last count near the end of swing shift the lights are turned off completely. No lights whatsoever besides the officer's station. I was finishing up my paperwork when I heard a knocking on one of the cell doors then an inmate's voice. "Officer Watson" (obviously I am not going to write my own name. So fake name given here) He called me again and I leave my station and walk over to his cell when I notice that the overhead light in his cell was turned on. He looked through the glass at me and asks what I wanted. I said I didn't want anything, I was just in my office. He looked up at the light and back at me and said he didn't turn it on. And he's right. Those lights can only be turned on from the outside, from my side of the cell. it's so an officer can get an inmate's attention at night. I was nowhere near his cell when it turned on. It wasn't a faulty wire either. The switch was indeed turned on. I flipped the switch back off. He gave me a horrified look and we bid each other good night and I went right back to my office. The walks/patrols I had to do throughout the rest of that night was horrible. Hairs standing up on end. Feeling the weight of the darkness was awful as we have to walk the hallways in darkness. The lights give us away if an inmate is trying to get away with something. So we walk as quietly as we can with no light. The only light is the from the tower outside that sort of shines through the tall windows at the end of the tier. Always remember that moment. It was not a fun experience. Had to do lots of graveyard shifts on that unit after that as well. I thankfully do not work there anymore.
I love that you can clearly see in the video that the glowing eyes at 19:37 are from a cat because the entire cat just walks round the corner and disappears off screen to the right. Love it. Also, I ADORE that this episode is so long, this is fantastic.
Ya that is the problem with this show now sadly.. Shane said it best at 38:39 Ryan just isn't scared or believes anymore. So the fun dynamic of this show is gone. I'm surprised someone hasn't said this but at 15:46 as Shane was asking "did you get stabbed in the body." there was a faint "yes" when they switch to see the stick figure giving a dance!
So glad to see the Ghoul Boys in action again. The spirits calling Shane "Daddy" is one of the freakiest things I've seen on their investigations, in more ways than one. I can't wait to see what else is in store.
Shane saying a “it appears to be some kind of large bird” at 12:40 then the camera pans over the a pigeon is so funny. @@foxglove9183 if there was solid evidence, no they would not. The issue is the evidence required for me or any other sane person to believe that ghosts exist would need to be overwhelming, NOT found by silly little ghoul toys known to have built in tricks, and able to be repeated to some extent by several different teams. The very basic bare minimum for proof. Which. Is never going to happen. Because the vast majority of ghosts can be explained with normal issues in old buildings, and the rest are very clearly just lies to get gullible folks to pay out the nose to wander around an old house in the dark getting scared by wooden floors settling in the cooler air. Also, hilariously, the wind is actually a very good explanation for a LOT of anecdotal 'evidence'.
I cannot believe they had a known arsonist named Firebug Johnson in the prison and didn’t think to connect the words “mattress” and “blaze” from the ovilus to a prison fire .__.

Debrief: There's some very clear EVPs in this episode. Either that or your crew are whispering while filming which should be a huge no no. There's a "YES" @ 15:52 maybe answering Shane's question of was someone stabbed in the body. Then you have what sounds like "FRONT DOOR" or "WHAT DOOR" maybe "ONE DOOR" @ 42:31. I think the door one is creepier since it's two words instead of the one syllable of "YES". I'm not the one who first noticed this. I just see it buried in the comments here and I'm hoping it doesn't get missed.
The dichotomy of Shane silently walking past the crew and Ryan rambling nonstop while walking past the crew like tag yourself bc I have been both but spiritually I really am Ryan. Also love Shane's pipeline of befriend people in prison and make soup to rat on people and do whatever it takes to be on top lmao
If a ghost appeared before you, proving their existence, would this spur you on to investigate more knowing they were real, or would it lose some of the mystery of it being an unknown.
Did anyone else notice that Shane was so agreeable about the evidence provided by the person with the professor plush in the background of her video? He even wanted to see her drawing of the creepy smiling face.
Could you not tell that in the cinder block room. 1) the eyes were from a cat or a raccoon and 2) the evidence submitted by those girls is so clearly to living people because you can see their flashlight beams before they enter both times?
Why was the evidence so sketchy? You've gotten someones Snap story, a video of people clearly walking by the Fire Exit, and another ghost team piggybacking off your success.
How Shane kept a straight face whilst Ryan descended into madness as he walked from one section to another I'll never know. I'm dying of laughter here.

But whats interesting Ryan said a prisoner tried to set fire to the place and then the ovilus said mattress blaze. Seems that was connected.
I love that as Ryan becomes less fazed, Shane has to become more unhinged to maintain the equilibrium 😂.

I'm not gonna lie, the scariest things this ep are the faces Shane makes during the solo investigation, because the camera angle makes them terrifying.

@@stephaniesheridan5722 Yeah!! And there was a moment earlier on where his eyes shifted back and forth pretty quick. It was probably just supposed to be silly but in the nightvision cam it looks spooky lol
The glowing eyes at 19:30 is 1000% a cat or racoon, the movement is so animal like and if you look really closely as the eyes go out of view you can make out a tail in the shadow
Definitely, you can see the 4 legs and the tail. The glowing light with the bang was probably it looking up at the noise.
Thank you, I was trying to find someone else that saw this lol
They said something about a demon dog later on pretty spooky, but it must be a raccoon or something
100% a raccoon, you can see it come out and chill at the top of the stairs.

As a little tip for Shane -- if you tell someone to face Away from a dark room or hallway "until you feel a breath in your neck" they will eventually feel it and you will ruin their life. Light touch and ichiness are the easiest feelings to trick someone into.
Shane is fearless, but Ryan is brave, because bravery is doing something despite your fear.
Shane himself is the first to say that he isn’t even close to fearless. He truly doesn’t believe in ghosts, so in his mind there’s nothing to be afraid of at all.
then there's the cameraman
@@Zakemaster would that not be the definition of fearless? to be absent of fear?

But it does it on its own?
Can be but it needs to be controled if his Flashlight has that feature i think.

His dry humor is perfection.
@39:00 so there was an inmate named "Firebug Johnson" known for trying to burn down the prison and you get "Mattress, blaze, material" when arguably mattresses were probably the most flamable thing available to him, and Ryan doesn't even bat an eye? I'm shocked!
My thoughts exactly
i was thinking the SAME THING
I was literally yelling at Ryan for not picking up on that 😂
Its driving me crazy that he just didn't care at all, didn't ask ONE actual question 😭
yeah, even before they said that, i was so confused why ryan's mind went straight to like 420 blaze it ahaha and not like, idk, arson, which i feel like would've been significantly more common in ye olde worlde prisons

Two years before my typewriter was made.
