You used to have to drive through Cle Elum before the freeway was built. We lived in the Okanogan Valley and a few times a year we drove to Tacoma to see family and would stop at a cafe in Cle Elum for breakfast. One time three monster steam farm tractors pulled up to the cafe and the drivers came in and had breakfast. It was about 1958/59 and I was about 12 and was fascinated by those old smoking behemoths that had to keep making steam even while parked.

Hello! Decades ago my family and I took a trip to see Roslyn. While there, we drove through, I'm pretty sure, Cle Elum. On one of the old buildings there was a strange ad that looked like it could've been from any time between the late 40's to the early 60's. It was a cartoon of a boy, about teenage, with a "sour face". He was chewing some kind of sour gum. It was classically retro. Does anybody who lives or lived in Cle Elum know about this? I'd love to get an image.
