The irony is that most harley riders ignore me. I wave at all bikes, even police on bikes. I've owned a few different bikes now and the harley riders almost never wave back. I actually like quite a few harleys, but the riders... not so much.

I’ve been riding on the street for almost 45 years had a Suzuki & Kawasaki at first but it’s been Harley for the last 38 years. I wave to all 2 wheelers regardless of make or style 3 wheels EH. In my experience it’s the sport riders that don’t wave unless I wave first. But it’s all good 👍

This is an awesome video! Nice job throwing the Road Glide around the track. Your point about not having to hate what you don't ride is spot on. I really wish more riders would understand that.

A Brazilian motorcycle built around a Vw bug flat 4 carbureted engine. Ugly, slow, mechanically flawed, it is the overweight yugo of motorcycles because Brasil was communist back when it was being built for the sake of this argument.

Great video, I’ve just been through this, after always having sports bikes I switched to Road Glide. Had never ridden anything like it, not even a cruiser. I’d still love a sports bike in garage but the Harley as my one bike has been perfect, 2 up is dream, it’s got character. It’s still riding just different, the same sensations. I had never appreciated them before but now I get it.

So enjoyable a watch. You now understand, it creeps up on you, two years ago they were tractors that escaped a field, now I just love my 2018 FLHTK (Electra Glide Limited).
I have the 107 twin cooled and it is always two up, it pulls well, gets 40mpg no matter how you ride it and it does embarrass some 600 riders when you keep up with them.
They do eventually fuck off, but its fun watching them check their mirrors and thinking, that fat bassa is still with me....aye, I am!
    Thank you for the viewing.

I'm glad someone is showing how well Harley's bikes handle for a heavy machine. I was one of those who swore up and down that their tech was out dated, their handling was poor, and that I'd never own one. That all changed after I rode one. It may be too late for HD, but if they want to entice both new and older riders to their brand, then this is the type of setting they need to be more associated with imho. Let them be seen going head to head with the other manufacturer's touring/bagger machines on a professional track so we can finally put that old, stale argument to rest. It may be their only option at this point.

Andrew Blahut I am living proof of that. Never thought I’d own a Harley. After turning 50, I’m on my third Harley now at 56 and finally found the one the fits me the best and it’s a RGS. My younger years, many sport bikes, ninjas, gpzs, gsxrs, cbrs, R1. what bike have I put the most miles on within the shortest time period? Road Guide Special, love the bike, love the looks, with a couple modifications, bike is a dream to ride. Still have an R1 for Sunday mountain rides, but my default bike is the 2018 RGS.

So with you Steve. Not a cruiser fan, nor a HD fan, but was offered a stupidly good deal on a Street Glide. Rode it from Cape Town to Johannesburg in South African winter, and I fell in love. I think it was cruising down a divided highway in winds gusting to 70 kms or so. The SG was in cruise at 130 kms and I was riding with one hand, dead straight and perfectly comfortable while watching compact cars getting pushed all over the road. The beast just works, and works with character.

Very well said! I have been riding since I was a kid and I turn 54 tomorrow. Ive raced mx and done many of track days on sport bikes. 2 years ago I bought a HD FXDR and did a 131 kit in it. It absolutely rips. I noticed the one in your race. I live in Austin, Tx and ride every weekend weather permitting. I went to the IOM TT this year for the first time, which was an amazing experience . We all get older but what ever we ride thats all that matters, as long as we still ride!

As an American, I approve of this video! I too love older American cars, especially from GM. I also was anti-Harley for the longest time and now, in my early 40's myself, I have taken a liking to the old, heavy, two-wheeled American iron. Hopefully Harley can survive this massive slump they are right in the thick of. Anyway, great video. It looked like a ton of fun and I'm sure you made tons of people laugh and smile at the fact that you're racing a land yacht. I know I enjoyed it immensely!

I love sportbikes they are truly incredible when riding them at the limit. However riding a big Harley touring bike is a sheer joy all the time. Setting the cruise control at about 80-85mph for hours on end and just experience the sheer joy of the engine rumble just the right amount of wind mix in a little sunshine it’s like heaven.

Great video John. I am also at that stage where I am looking at other styles/types of bikes that I have never ridden. Fast is fun, but comfort is something that appeals to me a lot more now than when I was younger. Australia is a large chunk of dirt, so a machine that offers me the best levels of comfort is most definitely going to end up in my garage. Not interested in looking cool, or being part of the crowd, I just love riding a motorcycle that keeps a smile on my dial every time I ride it. Glad you enjoy the Road Glide mate. I do reckon that your T-shirt collection will get bigger over time. Stay healthy brother.

I ride with sport bikes more than other Harley’s because they ride more my speed. But it’s not like I’m the best Harley riders. When there is those guys that like to ride like I do. You get some of that humble pie. Because there’s some people that can ride a Harley like it weighs 400lbs

How cool is this? I am a Big-V man that loves racing, so this is right up my alley. Nice work, man! I have always liked the Road Glide. I actually prefer it to the Street Glide because I like the fixed fairing. CVOs are pretty amazing machines, to be honest. But that price tag! I'll never be able to own one. Extra cool that you got to experience the Glide in its best trim. And then to race the thing? Excellent! I ride a Victory Vision myself, another big-v monster with a fixed fairing. I Love this bike and wouldn't trade it for anything. And I would LOVE to get her out on a track some day! Anyway, thanks for this great piece.

I've been riding over 4 decades and I bought my first HD (Road King) last September. Put nearly 15k miles on it over the winter no less and I love the beast. HD is making some great bikes now and the world's gone to hell. Glad to see someone who rides give it a review based on reality rather than drone on about its underwhelming spec sheet. Riders could use the education and HD could use the advertising.

Anyone that doesnt like them, especially a CVO, just is biased and not willing to give them a chance. I started out on a 76 Kawasaki KZ900. Then a 82 Honda V45 Magna. A 88 1100 Yamaha LTD. Then I rode a custom 78 SuperGlide. I then embarked on building a 1950 EL Panhead. Rode it for 5 years. Put it up. Then I went to a 2008 Night Train. A 2004 Big Dog Husky. Now Im pretty happy on a home built 98 Electra Glide with an S&S engine and a 6 speed. Suspension upgrades. It has been on the Dragon. Had plans to ride the snake this year before the pandemic happened.

Wow! Great video. Looked like you were having a blast. Harley’s handle pretty good for what they are and they actually can turn a tighter radius than MOST sport bikes. I can usually keep up and even pass some sport bikes in the twisties on my Street Glide. Those scraped up floor boards are “BADGES OF HONOR”. Hope some of the Harley Haters watch this. Most of them have never even thrown a leg over one of Harley’s Touring model motorcycles, but they HATE, HATE, HATE. All I can really say about this vid though is, “THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONESTY”. Enjoy. Be safe.

That review had me grinning from start to finish and sits alongside the drag racing on the Kawasaki Cafe Racer as a different way to review a bike. Now I’d take the Cafe Racer, but I still don’t want a Harley (yet)....

I owned Road Glides for ten years but I never did that with them! Even though I ride a new Goldwing now, I still feel the RG is the best bike Harley makes. I love em.

Great review of a great bike. If you’ve never ridden one reserve judgement until you have. 👍🏻

Love your video!! I wouldn't begin to give you tips, but a little leaning off center, into your turn may give you a bit more ground clearance and save your floorboards. That is a sweet ride my friend.

I own the CVO Ultra Glide and it is awesome with one or two riders. I admit I prefer my Road King when hitting the tight curves because my heavy CVO will slide out wider than I want (grinding the foot boards!) if I get too enthusiastic going into a corner. For long hauls over a wide variety of road types the Ultra rocks! I agree with the overall assessment. And the sound when on the throttle is much throatier than any track bike could ever be. 👍🏼👍🏼

Great video. I am a life long Harley fan , ride a Road King , but my favorite bike of all time, Honda CBX. I wonder why bikes are so segmented?. I appreciate almost all of them. I may think some are ugly but doesn't stop me from appreciating a Street Triple or a Panigale or an R1 or a Busa .
So well said on you can use all of the bike all of the time.

I often pretend my Road Glide Special is a sport bike, and it's pretty rewarding to "hustle a pig"... Great video, they are a very good bike.
