      Test for echo was a album that spoke huge amounts of volume to me. I lost so many marbles then and gained so much at the same time. Another bitter sweet. It's always been my life. I've played every song on this record, was in two different bands at that time. This was the year my dad really looked at me as possibly being a full time paid musician. Suddenly he was gone and it took my breath. Another crushing blow. So I had to drop my life to take care of what was left (mom) wife house. He was such a important part of me. But he lived long enough to enjoy my passion. I was tested to all extremes beyond. Just when I was gaining ground again. Another blow. Mom was gone. I fell hard this time. It's never been the same again. 14 years later I'm here with all of you. From the brink of insanity to be in a true relationship with God And Jesus. Rush means so much. Saved me many times. And now a beautiful community of you all. Eric and I got off on the wrong foot (my own doing) on defending Neil. Now I call him BROTHER. A Modern Day Warrior. All these albums mean so much. I started playing drums in 1978. I've immersed my self so deeply in drumming. Have had real chances to make it but I just didn't believe in them. Yes I turned down the band ( Disturbed). We all grew up together. But it was a one way music. I just wouldn't attach my self to something that I can't grow. So all was for nothing. I've never told this to a soul till today, at least to people I don't really know. But I trust this community so much I can tell my story. Now for the last two years I've gained some weight with my writing thanks to my wife. Life beyond the cymbals. To you, to us to all Many Blessings. A Chicago Drummer. Skin's And Metal's Forever.

      Thanks, brother. We're leaving New England soon, and I can't wait to get home. New video ideas have been spinning around my mind, and my Avid system must be very lonely. I've been away from my little home studio since December 20th.
      It's time to fire up the old workstations and get to work. Plus, my family was thoughtful and generous this Christmas. I have lots of new production toys to play with when I get home. I'm excited. I hope to see you guys in a future livestream.
      Remember, no one graduates from RUSH University because the learning never stops!
      See you soon, Eric

    Absolutely! "Freewill" comes to mind. As long as we are alive we have freewill. Not only when it comes to religion, but conformity to societal ebbs and flows. One of my favorites, lyrically, is "Ghost of a Chance" off of "Roll the Bones".

    • @TheLoudboyExperience
      @TheLoudboyExperience  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You are right!
      You can choose from phantom fears
      And kindness that can kill
      I will choose a path that’s clear
      I will choose free will.
      So applicable today. So many forces against us use FEAR as a weapon to advance political agendas and secure more money and power. All of this at the cost of our wealth, property, and freedom.
      I will always choose Freewill
      Ghost of a Chance has beautiful lyrics.
      Thanks for sharing this with us!

    Hey man, I've been following your channel just within the past couple of weeks (January 9, 2025 as I type this). I really appreciate and agree with your insights into 2112 and the more contemporary interpretations of its themes found in the lyrics of Virtuality, The Body Electric (one of my top 5 Rush songs) and Test For Echo. Test For Echo the album has historically lived towards the bottom of my personal list of greatest Rush albums for a long time, but you've inspired me to pull it out after way too long.
    Similar to you, I've loved Rush since junior high (aka middle school) and the Moving Pictures tour at Madison Square Garden was my first ever rock concert, but it was Signals that turned me from an avid fan into a full blown Rush fanatic, and I'm still that guy at 57. I recall the chapters of my life alongside Rush album and tour cycles, and it was hard on my wife & I when they retired - we met and started dating at Counterparts. Finally, Rush got me through a long and difficult recovery after I put my foot down and chose life, love & personal growth over a serious addiction to pain pills...I'm over 15 years clean from those monsters now, and revisiting their whole catalog sustained me during the most difficult and depressive times in the aftermath of addiction.
    Thanks for putting so much of your focus and energy on how deeply Rush's music, lyrics and their personalities have affected those of us of a certain age, my closest friends from childhood, high school & college are all Rush fans of varying degrees who feel similarly. All the best my friend, looking forward to watching this channel grow. - Russell, Las Vegas

      @TheLoudboyExperience  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Russell, your note means more than I can express in this response. Your history with Rush mirrors much of my own. As you might be aware, I've only mentioned it a hundred times in my videos, but Counterparts is special to me. Yes, Test for Echo came out just before my wife and I got together, but Counterparts remained a favorite.
      I too have suffered at the hands of big medicine and their push to put us pain patients on pills. I rode the infamous wave of the pain epidemic, with my doctors putting me on massive amounts for several years. While I have and still do suffer from crippling chronic pain, the situation got way out of hand with no checks and balances. As you know, even with good intentions, and a real medical need, those suckers can be habit-forming. While I was never a hit the streets, buying drugs guy. All of mine were prescribed and gotten from a real pharmacy, still, it was too much.
      Like you, I am blessed beyond measure to be out of those dark woods. I still deal with pain, from waking up to going to bed at night, a "natural" condition from having my neck reconstructed multiple times. I'll have arthritis, nerve issues, and pain for the rest of my life, but because I'm off of that poison, it'll be a happier, more fulfilled life.
      I am extremely proud of you for choosing a better path in life. Millions of people are addicted to something and will never get help. You chose life, love, and a better way, making you one of the strongest people on this planet. I'm proud of you bud!
      Thank you very much for your candid note, please keep in touch.

    I would suggest in adding "Marathon" ... I have used it on my Workout tapes (yes, smart phones didn't exist in the mid 80's) and is now 40 years later it is on my cell phone workout playlists.😀😀😀

    • @TheLoudboyExperience
      @TheLoudboyExperience  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I remember all the way back when we only had 8 track and vinyl. We've seen the evolution from those days through cassette tape, CD, Napster, iPods, and Zunes. Yes, I had a Zune. It's often criticized, and rightly so for its sloppy software and inability to really get online. However, I had an 80 GB Zune and my entire music collection fit on that sucker! Back then my ripped from CD digital Rush collection was probably 30+ albums deep, once you count all of the live and compilation collections. These days my digital Rush is at least 54 deep. Since the anniversary rereleases and 87 versions of Snakes and Arrows ;-) it got quite massive. I've moved this collection from Zune, to phone, and countless phones since. Having most of my music collection LOCAL on my phone, I can play anywhere, internet service or not. Finally, the Great Music collection lives on my Synology NAS, which I can access anytime across my home network.
      These days we're old school if we OWN music, how weird is that?!
      Please forgive the massive diversion into tech history, but once that door is kicked open, I can talk for hours.
      I was just responding to a comment about Marathon today. I wrote:
      I wonder if Marathon is overlooked and underrated. I for one, have always been encouraged by Neil's inspired lyrics. Marathon is a life lesson on how to live. We were never promised an easy life, quite the opposite, but our relentless run towards the goal, no matter life's difficulties, is what matters.
      You can do a lot in a lifetime
      If you don’t burn out too fast
      You can make the most of the distance
      First you need endurance -
      First you’ve got to last…
      Beautiful. Let's all stay strong and focused on what matters.
      ....
      Thank you very much for being here and writing. I see your other comments and I'll respond to them soon. Hopefully, for your sake, I won't be inspired to write you another novel sized response.
      Take care bud, Eric

    Ayn rand had a great influence on their music as well. Looking into the smartphone and other spyware. In a really cool coincidence that has nothing to do with this particular topic, that if you put Neil’s Birthday month and day together into a military time, (9/12) you get 21/12. 9 equals 21.

      Ayn Rand. In High School I learned that Neil was influenced by her books. I immediately went out and bought Anthem. I love Anthem! I got the fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, and the others, but its Anthem where I found the source code for 2112. I love stories about a brave individual fighting against tyranny.

      @roberttholen9347 You think?! 😉 I thank Neil for turning me on to Professor Rand. She went through the fresh hell on Earth of Communism. Firsthand, she survived the soul-destroying societal dumpster fire of tyranny.
      I love that she chose to talk about and educate us through fictional stories. Parables are a time-honored way of making complex subjects understandable. Neil wrote these into many of his lyrics. Like parables, she used classic storytelling to teach future generations.

    Neil was a voracious reader so Ayn Rand and also I believe Orwell were the sources of his lyrics in 2112. Rand wrote in the 1920s and the novel '1984' was written in 1948. Neil was perhaps trying to get those ideas or prophesies if you like out to a wider audience through his lyrics but I do not believe he would credit his writing to prophecy. Just my view.

    • @TheLoudboyExperience
      @TheLoudboyExperience  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      🙂 I don't think Neil's lyrics were prophecy, which was the point of this video. Your view is the same as mine. There are no more prophets in the world today. Biblical prophets were active and recorded, but the last of them lived in New Testament times.
      Because of Neil, I found Ayn Rand's books. I love Anthem. I feel this is the template from which Neil based 2112. I read Orwell's 1984 outside of school of my own volition.
      Orwell, like Ayn Rand, and even Peart, took knowledge of history, human nature, and the evil of tyranny, and applied pattern recognition to create fiction that reads like modern-day "prophecy"
      This was what I tried to say when looking at the lyrics of these 30 Rush songs.
      I really appreciate you being here, please keep in touch.

    We"ve got the autocracy that many writers feared, the number of socio-economic decisions that are being fast-tracked into policy blows my mind. But we have not yet seen a full-blown theocracy here in the west, but I have the uneasy feeling that it is just waiting in ambush for the hard right rubber stamp. Lets hope they don't start enforcing bible study....oh, hold on...

    • @TheLoudboyExperience
      @TheLoudboyExperience  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't think that'll happen. If our leaders and President honor and follow The Constitution and Bill of Rights, there will not be a state-mandated religion. The First Amendment ensures this as law. Yes, our founding fathers give credit to God in our documents, but in no way did they want it forced on us. General Washington led our soldiers and fought the Revolutionary War to get away from England and their State Forced Church of England. The point of America is Freedom, and the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
      Thank you for writing, Eric

      To Paraphrase Professor Peart, Neil said that his lyrics were a reflection of the times, what he observed, and what was happening with him and the world.
      Geddy or Neil spoke about the open interpretation of their lyrics. Some of them are left to personal opinion, that the listener can find personal meaning in their songs.
      Forgive me if I can't recall exactly when and from what interview these originated.
      But you're right, Neil's lyrics often addressed a particular year and times in which they were written.
      Great art stands the test of time because it remains relevant for years to come.
      The music of Rush is still fresh today.
      The lyrics of Neil Peart remain relevant today, as they were when they were written because they contain constant truths about people, life, and the human experience.
      Thank you very much for being here, please keep in touch.
      Eric
