I will never forget the interview with Geddy as they were scheduled to play in Rio - which was arguably their greatest live performance ever - he said: "We didn't even know if anyone in Brazil had ever heard of us." The reception they got in Brazil should make their fans across the globe hang their head in shame. Still brings tears to my eyes. What a band - what a loss with Neil. In one of the clips I included, a reporter asked why Rush had not come to Brazil yet, and Geddy replied, because we're dumb. @@TheLoudboyExperience To be honest - I was only seconds into this video and already knew where it was going to end up when I posted my reply. This band touched a chord in the heart - "Closer to the Heart" - to all of their fans who immediately connected with them. That was never lost on them - and their fans always knew that it did not. It was reciprocal and synopsis. It just was. There are not many bands who enjoy such a relationship with their fans like RUSH enjoyed - but it was always mutual - always. It wasn't just the music - which was always phenomenal; it was also about these three humble boys from Canada. So much they have all shared with us in all of our lives. It was great to have them as part of our lives as well and why we love them so much. Thanks again - God bless!

I remember Geddy once saying that Neil's lyrics were up to personal interpretation, or something like that. While this may be true for some, Peart was usually direct and purposeful with his words. How this relates to your comment, I'll leave that for personal interpretation. 😉 I'm glad to be a nerd and a bonafide geek. These attributes are preference and from the years spent in tech, video production, and soaking up quality science fiction & fantasy. It was inevitable. 😉 I'm looking forward to tomorrow. @DeSantis5 I had to look this up. Come to find out, my Dad is a Luthier for most stringed instruments. Beyond fixing, repairing, stringing, and playing the violin to guitar, my Dad even built a dulcimer from scratch. Interesting. Thank you

Well he really is the musical alchemist in the band with his almost magical approach to creating. What he does with a guitar and on canvas is pure artistry (The Artist) and he’s also been a pilot, a chef, a golf pro etc. this is a tough one.

Thank you for sharing this. I, too, was given a hand for which I did not ask. I was born with a congenital spine condition, missing an important part of C1 just under my skull. Multiple neck surgeries later, so I wouldn't die, or be paralyzed, I now live in constant chronic pain. After trying and failing to maintain my career in the TV Film industry, I had to admit defeat and was quickly given disability. Another congenital heart condition also almost killed me, and I had to have quadruple bypass surgery recently. I've been allowed to go through quite a bit in life, but I'm still here, writing a new friend back at this very moment. Let's count our blessings while we can. It's a pleasure to hear from you, keep in touch. eric

I haven't brought this up, but since you have, I'll finally comment. My Dad turned me on to the existence of the Rush reaction videos. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm glad a new generation is finding them. For obvious reasons, I've told my family that I can't make "first-time" Rush reaction videos. I have thought about making a reaction-style video just to be able to play otherwise copyrighted Rush music on my channel. Is that how it works? What a peculiar loophole!!! Somehow reaction videos can play anything with impunity. Strange. Thanks, bud, eric

Totally! I've seen Rush in Texas at least 6 times? Possibly seven. My college roommate and best friend is a physics professor at Sam Houston. I'm going to his house in College Station and we're heading to see Dream Theater on Valentine's Day in Houston. While I don't live there, I've been there as a hardcore Rush fan, watching them in Texas since Counterparts. It's great to hear from you! eric

Hey Mark! What an astute observation you've made about Geddy. As I was reading this, I wondered if I was the only one who also feels this way. Often my natural nerdy and geeky tendencies lead my family to look at me with perplexed stares. Do any of you feel misunderstood, alone in a crowd, and looked at like an alien visiting from another star system? I often do, and if you share this, even sometimes, there's a reason we've found each other through this masquerade. eric

@@markhamilton8765 Well for example energy could be spent uncovering many brilliant bands which people know little to nothing about, rather than spent on endlessly thumbing the well-worn back pages of an already very famous and now defunct band. Uploaders just go for the safe and predictable as they wager that will get them more clicks.
