    You could probably argue that the Syringers found in hospitals and other pre-war medical locations were also made post-war.
    Like, a survivor takes shelter in the husk of the hospital, and builds a gun-like weapon that can fire the only readily-available ammo-shaped item; hypodermic syringers.

    The syringer mystery might be solved by how the authorities handled the rioting. In Boston you really didn't want to go around shooting people waiting in the breadlines or if you were on the other side, you could take down cops or GIs without killing, saving yourself a murder charge. In Appalachia we see the mining companies and miners were just at war, meaning killing was a lot more common.

      Military/cops didn't care about shooting rioters in the fallout universe. It was martial law in the US and you would get gunned down if you acted out. Same with rioters, they knew they were going to get severely injured or killed trying to fight the police, so they reacted with violence aswell

      The cops and Pinkertons killing miners happened in real life, there was a war fought, and unfortunately the cops and the capitalists won. But I am going to propose that shooting a cop with a syringe full of stuff is gonna get you hit by the books as hard as if you'd shot lead.

      I own a plunger for home defense. "Why" because that's what the Mario Bros intended.
      Three super mutant break into my vault, I throw crap in the face of the first one while my stock Mr. Handy (that, for some reason, has a flamer) turns number two into radiation ribeye. The third begins running toward the gates. At that point, I take my three star flaming, lucky, freezing, and bleeding pipe wrench and tap the final mutie once, turning him into a reddish-yellow paste on the wall

    Regarding the weird shovel in McMurphy's inventory: It might have an explanation. I seem to recall mention somewhere that the intro cutscene with Benny & the 2 Khans was originally intended on being an in-engine scene, as opposed to a cinematic. Maybe the shovel was altered for the animation, and never got taken away when the scene changed.

    I just had a theory idea: 76's Orbital Strike Beacon is calling the Bradley-Hercules platform from Broken Steel to do the bombarding. The reason it takes longer and shoots salvos instead of single rounds in Broken Steel could be a consequence of well over a century of disuse since Appalachia, and it had to take a moment to realign for D.C. to attack Liberty Prime (and realign again for AFB and the Citadel). The Enclave may even have unique permission to make it shoot salvos instead of single missiles.

    Iirc, there’s another place in fallout 4 you can find a syringer in an unmarked two-story building northeast of Kendall Hospital called Plumber’s Secret. If you follow a trail of plungers stuck to the wall and ceiling, you can find it held up by boards nailed to the ceiling, along with a caps stash.

      It should have more potent effects as well. I'm surprised there isn't a dart that acts like the Dart gun from fallout 3 that cripples their legs instantly?
      The problem with the syringer is that for the need to craft the ammo and the effects really just aren't effective even in the mid game. Such a weapon needs some rediculous powerful stuff to justify the hassle of making ammo that it's worth it

    • @TheTurt

      @zincorium1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mikzpwnz_3199 It's like the designers suddenly forgot one of the primary 'rules' that most games and most guns in F4 adhere to- the more expensive the ammunition, the more *effective* the weapon is. The recipes are also overcomplicated garbage- it requires too many specific components, in illogical combinations, compared to almost all of the other crafting in the game. Glass + steel = syringe, syringe + chem = ammo. Then throw out the random chance, make the effects more potent, and you'd actually have a weapon that people would use non-ironically.

    • @darkbeetlebot
      @darkbeetlebot ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The syringer needed to have an ammo type that did the same thing as the dart gun from fallout 3. Then nobody would shut up about how good it is.

    • @markbunst5961
      @markbunst5961 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @zincorium1 the requirement of specific junk components felt like a holdover from Fallout 3. One of the best things 4 does is that it doesn't require specific junk for a lot of weapons, can you imagine if you could still only make railway rifles if you found pressure tanks and steam gauges?

    • @calebbarnhouse496
      @calebbarnhouse496 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Bubben246yea lots of guns and ammo are in the US, however bows and arrows have a lot of practicality for people, for starters, no gunpowder is needed, gunpowder would be pretty expensive after a hundred years, after 200 it would be pretty much just what is being produced, which would be at a high premium, or very low quality coming from people that kinda guess the formula and manage to not kill themselves while doing so, bows also have the advantage of being able to avoid attention, a pistol fired will alert nearby ghouls, a bow won't, yes the bow would be a weapon used when it's convenient, but with how many bows and arrows there are today, in the numbers and there advantage in economical ammo use they have real staying power, double so to a syringe gun

    Maybe the nuclear material in the Turbo-Fert bombs is in reference to nuclear farms, where plants are irradiated and then grown to see if useful mutations occur. Also regarding the syringer I feel like it would've heavily benefited from a normal "damage ammo" so that it could be used for combat more accessibly. In the case of the Orbital Strike Beacon and it's payload that gets launched, my theory is that its some kind of Kinetic bombardment, launched by a railgun like device from the satellite, Kinetic bombardment, using an innate rod of metal launched at such a high velocity would produce a large explosion, however maybe my hypothesis on this is completely wrong

    The syringer is the illusion magic of fallout. Really cool status effect spells... That don't work most the time or where it's most needed.
    Also I'm going to state this again since it was mentioned again. The pipe walking are just a "placeholder" for jerry rigged/prison weapon/homemade weaponry. People always get stuck on the idea on pipe weapons as if they were actual weapon line when in reality it's just the idea of crafting a wrapping from scraps. Something that's very needed in the wasteland but is obviously something made now daysas well and would be common during a time were tension was high inside the country.
    Also the syringer is just a modernized blow dart gun. And obviously sedating a target is easier if you say him from way over here.
    Also. McMurphy shovel is for the intro cutscenes. Hence the odd not real existince it has

    Ok here is a challenge for you, in fallout 4 there is a creation club set that involves ramps and giant steel balls. Those balls are classified as junk by the game which means this super heavy junk can be picked up after being crafted at any settlement and be loaded into the junk jet, enjoy the mayhem....

    Well I bet there’s a lot of fun to be had having a mod that gives legendary effects to weapons. The ammo get’s way more umph when the syringer is legendary I’m sure.
    Also, bows look great and seem to be what the syringer could have been in its potential. I will say though, id want to use a crossbow with syringe bolts as additional ammunition, plus delve into some mechanical modifications. Ngl, having a crossbow built with Gauss rifle parts would be interesting. Have the gauss barrel house the bolt and drawing the string activates the magnets. When fired, the draw force is enhanced by the magnets, firing the bolt farther and straighter. I can even see this as a bow where someone slips the arrow in the gauss barrel and it uses magnets to amplify the draw force when fired.

    The Abilene BB gun in New Vegas is actually surprisingly viable for survival runs. The BBs are dirt cheap, nearly weightless, and solid in large quantity at several shops.
    For 'things that are technically weapons' the paddle ball from FO4 is pretty high up there.

    The next fallout game needs more pipe weapons if it's not near new Vegas since the gun runners build pre war weapons while the further away you get the less likely you are to find weapons like that. So you'd have to build pipe weapons or use a certain skill to manufacture pipe weapons and repair them rather than constantly having to find them.

Arkos and other places having other experiments in mind. I say it's the lack of needing such a thing. West Virginia's population seemed a lot more... mentally or medically stable before the bombs.

    I think the Red Ryder LE shoots metal balls and that’s why it’s so much more effective. Sure the plastic balls can take out an eye the metal balls can splatter the eye and maybe go into the brain if the gun is prepared and aimed just right.

    39:05 an orbital strike, at least the real life concept known as project thor, would have been a tungsten rod dropped from orbit that deals immense damage through kinetic force alone. Another term commonly used for orbital strikes is "kinetic bombardment". They are said to travel at over mach 10. It was obviously never built, however it was due to a treaty concerning space weapons rather than impracticality.

  • @patrikhjorth3291
    @patrikhjorth3291 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The stronger version of the BB Gun, aside from the movie reference, isn't as strange as it may seem. There are IRL air/CO2 guns that can deliver as much or more force than a 22LR gun. It is perfectly possible to kill a human with a 22LR, if the shooter is accurate enough to hit a sensitive spot... such as the eye.
    I have heard that a headshot with a 22LR can cause the bullet to "bounce" inside the skull, causing even more damage than a bullet that goes straight through. I don't know if that's true, and I haven't found any source that can confirm it, so take that for what it's worth.
    A shovel can be a pretty decent improvised melee weapon, though I doubt it will last for very many hits if it's swung like a bat. It would surely deal more damage than 1-3 HP.

    The Syringer is used in Real Life and is alot of times very similar to the Fallout version design. It's not called a Syringer however, it's called a Tranquilizer Gun, or Tranq Rifle (or gun). It fires projectiles very similar in concept to the Syringe Ammo of Fallout 4, called Hypodermic Darts in the RealWorld. These Tranq Darts are filled with a measured dose of Tranquilizer fluid that is used in Veterinarian and Game Management to temporarily incapacitate animals in order to move them, take medical measurements and samples, or to prep the animal for medical procedures.

    I do wish the Syringer was overall just better so that I could get away with making an “Anna from Overwatch” Dart Sniper build.
    From its appearance to its darts I just found it underwhelming, which is a shame since I love the idea of it.
